This is truly a mindcandy thread!  Great things here.

QuoteI'm trying to work on my backlogged stuff and try to finish them without starting something new (like that will happen  :D)

I know the feeling, my friend.  I know the feeling.

Regarding Schwartz Chemical, it's the most delightful industrial
I've ever seen, a work of art.  The big company signs across
the top are a perfect touch.

jestarr

@simthad:  I'm glad you like it.  It's one of my favorites too.  OK, I've done a full render of Underhill, so I could check the textures in-game,  Below is the result.  A couple of the textures still need a little adjustment, but it's almost there. ;D  Then on to lotting and testing.  Cheers!

Once again a cool adition to every industrial zone
Did you look up DebussyMans showcase? I think we got work for you  :D :D :D

The most astounding and unique aspect of the human race is our fervent application of our ingenuity to kill each other, thus completely defying the near-universally proven fact that the ultimate goal of a member of a species is to ensure the survival of the species.

That VW plant is a seriously cool building!  It would need to be scaled down for the game though.  From what little I've seen, it appears that it would be a strain for a 25x25 lot. :D  If I can find some pictures of the other side I might take it for a spin.  I'd want to get it as close as possible to the real building. ;D

FromTheAshes

Well I think there are a lot of pictures in the web. If you mean it seriously, I can search Google Germany or even take some photos of my own. Takes me 5 minutes to get there.

Oh, I'm quite serious.  I love buildings like that one (you know brick monsters ;D).  They have much more character than any of the modern stuff.

OMG : That VW-Werke will be awesome... and with 50000 jobs just what a CAM town needs!

Ok, just for you to get a rough shape, here are some pics. It's very hard to get closer to it, unless you work there. I'll ask some of my relatives, most of them work at VW.

Don't worry, there'll be more ;)

25x25 is a wee bit of an understatement...

this is the chimney building.... if you can call it the the main building....[linkie]

as for the factory as a whole. it has railway lines running in and out it has internal avenues.... and the worst bit is the majority of it is connected by huge skywalks and so is in fact one huge building....[linkie]

in fact the whole plant is 2.5 miles by 1.5 miles if you include the test track..
NAM + CAM + RAM + SAM, that's how I roll....

jestarr

This factory is a giant alright.  I started playing around with this a few minutes ago and this is what I ended up with.  This is somewhat like doodling for me.  Sorta gets my mind focused on what needs to be done to make the model. :D

FromTheAshes

Looks promessing so far  But there's not that much to say to what you've got so I'll look up tomorrow again ;D

LOL that's enormous! I hope you plan to make an I-D version (Well growable/lot wise), we need more I-D  $%Grinno$%
I find that alcohol, taken in sufficient quantities, can bring about all the effects of drunkenness.

Thanks Marc, I'd appreciate that.  OK, I made a massing model so I could get a feel for the building and gage it's size.  Folks it's going to be very large.  :D  The model has been slightly reduced, from the original I did, as at full size it got out of hand in a hurry.  The only way I can see to make this, being as it's so large, is to model it in sections and then piece it together.  Otherwise it'll be rendering for a month, if it renders at all.  Here's a pic of the massing model.  It's only half of the main building and it's footprint is 8x5 tiles (128x80 meters) and is 112 meters tall.  Cheers!

BigSlark

This impressive, jestarr. Is there any chance these lots could be the driving force for a whole city?

Also, could it be possible to render each of the pieces as props and put them on a lot together, just to make life easier for those of us that download this beast?

Keep up the great work!

Cheers,
Kevin
