Hi BigSlark!  Yes, that's the only way it would work.  At least that's the way I see it going.  One model would be designated the "building", with everything else being props.

Wow... this is coming along pretty well jestarr!

Great work on the Underhill Casket Company as well... it looks wonderful!

Keep it up! - Kyle

Impressive!  &apls &apls &apls
120m without the chimneys? Or are they includet?
I was thinking, if this building will contain jobs or work as a power plant. Or maybe both? Anyway, you seem to handle this very good, no problems yet? One thing I have to criticize are the chimneys. I think they should be a bit more massiv, just bigger. Not much taller. Beside that it's great progress.

The Underhill Casket Company looks fantastic.  The speed at which you finish your stuff is as incredible as the bats themselves.  I always say, "If jestarr made it, than it must be DL'd no questions asked!"
If are able to work out everything on this VW Plant, that would be incredible.  If you could also make some of the sizes very wierd so they could be growable so that they function properly.  Freight, tranportation and such.....could you imagine one industrial lot giving that many jobs....wow.  Even if this really ended up being 25 by 25, I would still use it for sure.  There has to be a first for everthing, right?

Good luck on this one and I bow to one of the indutrial gods.......... ()stsfd()

@rooker1:  ;D

As for the VW plant, I've put all the parts into one model so I could make size adjustments prior to starting the model.  I've adjusted the massing model to fit on a 12x12 lot.  The actual footprint for all "buildings" is 184x176 meters.  I still need to adjust a few things.  The smoke stacks should be slightly larger in diameter and a little taller.  This is about as big as I can make it and still get it into the game, as the below pics are approximately 35% of the actual screen size at zoom 5.  Cheers!

Wow, that's a massive building, for a massive task. But I'm sure you will handle it just like any of your other projects, and I'll be looking forward to see it finish. Keep it up my friend.

@FromTheAshes:  The model is now 142 meters tall including the smoke stacks.  I'll probably make this a stage 3 ID or IM growable and a landmark with jobs.  For the CAM version it's obviously a stage 10 and PIM-X assigned 28,954 jobs. ;D  I've rendered the massing model and plopped it in-game next to my Wisconsin Gas Building so I could make a size comparison.  I'm doing all this, so after I start the model, I won't have to continually make changes due to something not fitting properly. :D

FromTheAshes

Great great great, it's definetly taking shape.
BTW, are you going to create some smoke?

:P

BTW, are you going to create some smoke?

That might be possible with a prob or two.

J: Looks great.

FromTheAshes

I know, there are great possibilities to create smoke/dust in MAX.

I was thinking of more of the props from a pack that Jeronij released.

I find that alcohol, taken in sufficient quantities, can bring about all the effects of drunkenness.

There is already a smoke effect prop on the LE, I've used it when I did my Nuclear Power Plant. &mmm

jestarr

Smoke is a definite possibility. ;D  OK, I've started really working on this.  Here's a pic of test render #7.  It's the East side of the main building.  I have the windows done also (well one of each anyway), but I'll wait until close to the end of modeling to add them in and array them.  Windows add a lot of polys and I don't want it to lag too much. :D

That huge factory thing is cool!

I will definatly reserve space for that!
The most astounding and unique aspect of the human race is our fervent application of our ingenuity to kill each other, thus completely defying the near-universally proven fact that the ultimate goal of a member of a species is to ensure the survival of the species.

This is coming along superbly.  I can't wait to see some textures.  Oh this is going to be the greatest    I-D ever!!!

I too am in the process of making the same plant - I found the real thing on virtual earth and what Jestarr is showing is just a fraction of the real thing. he is talking a 25 x25 lot. that would just hold about 1/4 of the actual plant - It wont hurt to have two versions of the same building

I'm nutty and I Bat and they're coming for me with the white coats again
