This is great idea for a BAT.  Frozen storage/warehouse.  I think it looks great.
I'm sure you not close to being finished, especially when it comes to the lot.  But if I could suggest making it one tile deeper so parked trailer could be at those docks and with enough space to drive out.  ;)
Just an idea.

Robin
Call me Robin, please.

Bluebeard

I agree with Rooker. It's a little tight by the loading docks for the larger trucks. ;)

oldrogue

I'm not sure about the depth issue....many of these places would only have a very few semi trailers come in...most of their regular customers would be in 5 and 10 ton bobbers not much bigger than a large U-Hual truck... and many of the trailers had a side door anyway (way back when).

dragonshardz

so, what's happening on the VW plant?

it's my first time asking, so please don't bite me head off.

hydra

All the work is looking good jestarr. &apls

dragonshardz

some problems here jestarr.

pics first:

the first picture is of the updated Cal Fame Packing Shed. The parking textures in the employee parking area don't show up.

the second picture is of your Canal rail barges. Are they supposed to look like that?

Yoman

You are missing the prop for the canal barges. Not sure about the packing shed though.

dragonshardz

You sure? Becasue I have all the dependencies installed....

Of course, sine the dep given in the readme has been superseded, it may be that the prop was forgotten...

Yoman

Possibly, I just remember that there is an exact prop created by Jestarr that fills that entire lot with a canal, and in the center is the rail barge, and well its not there so it must be missing  ::)

Andreas

I think the canal rail barge is a timed prop, so it might take some time until it shows up. For the Cal Fame lot, you either need sc4jeek's parking lot textures or (better) the updated Cal Fame lot with the updated textures by walking snake (sc4jeek's new screen name).
Andreas

jestarr

Andreas is correct.  It's a timed prop, however, there are actually two props, so one or the other should be visible when it's plopped.  If neither shows, you're missing my mega prop pack Vol04.  For the parking lot textures, you indeed need walkingsnake's p-lot texture pack and the updated  CalFame lot on the LEX.  His original texture pack had some problems and is no longer available, as far as I know.  Cheers!

dragonshardz

i have the updated CalFame, and the new textures as well.

ok, the timed prop not showing up: could be.

but what about the static prop?

and i already have all of the dependencies for the barge.

jestarr

Hmmm...OK, I downloaded both files from the LEX and installed them with just the necessary plugins.  Both worked as they should (see below).  Try looking at the modified date for the CalFame lot you have.  It should be 10-25-2007.  If it's anything else, it's not the correct lot and won't work correctly.  In the below pics the left barge lot is the static one and the right, obviously is the timed lot.  The static model is also in my mega pack vol04.  Let me know, if everything being correct, you're still having problems, and I'll research it some more to try and figure out what the problem is.  Cheers!

well, it appears i didn't dl vol 4 of your props, but the CalFame shed i downloaded is dated 10/25/2007

maybe dling it agian would work...

EDIT: Turns out i still had the old version installed as well as the new one.

boy do i feel dumb.

so, got anything to show us jestarr?

jestarr

dragonshardz:  Don't feel bad.  You wouldn't believe how many times I've done that. :P

As for "show and tell", I've been experimenting with different methods of modeling.  This is a pic of my building experiment.  The walls don't have a back, so it's a "wysiwyg" type thing.  The walls are extruded lines that are converted to editable mesh.  I then removed the top and bottom polys and cut window/door openings with a boolean operation.  Seems to be working fairly well so far. ;D  Cheers!

oldrogue

Oooooh....did't understand a word of your explanation (well ok, building I do know), but like the style of building you made....quite interested to see what it's going to be.

bad news: the Cal Fame packing shed STILL has no parking lot textures!

You do have walkingsnakes new texture pack right?  If so, it might be corrupt. Try reinstalling it and see if that helps.  Also, you might try clearing your plugins folder of everything but the CalFame lot and it's dependencies.  Plop it in a new region and see if it shows correctly.  There may be a conflict somewhere.
