I just rendered (in gmax) a model and it rendered only in one side (several times).....During rendering the model stayed fix in that position. Anyone knows what's wrong?
Thanks.

I had something similar happen once, I think. It may be caused by a faulty camera rig. I would suggest that you create a new scene and merge your model into it, without the lights or cameras. That solved my problem. If it doesn't work, there may be something more sinister at play. $%#Ninj2

Thanks joelyboy911 for reminding me , that worked just fine. I knew about this, but I just didn't think of it at the time of rendering anymore....memory loss? ???....lol...No, it's been too long ago that it didn't happen. Thanks again.

While I'm here, and this thread is still fresh, I was wondering if someone could explain me how come ythat I have groundtextures on this lot, although I deleted the opnes I put on them while saving the lot?
Here's what I did:
I created a LM lot in LE, gave it a groundtexture, and put watertiles on them. It's a 1x2 lot and the prop is a LM so it floats on water, since simple props do not float. I gave it a name, saved it and closed the LE. Opening the ilive Reader, I chose the lot and deleted the two groundtexture tiles in the first Exemplar File, while reindex lotconfiguration right after, saved it and opened the game and this below is what I came up with.

I have done it before several times and it always worked....hm.....what's wrong now?
Thanks, help will be appreciated.

SC4 PIM by wouanagaine lets you save from it's Lot editor without textures (so you cut out the stage of going into the reader and removing the manually.

You must read the manual though as it's LE is hotkey based.

Thanks for trying to help, but it didn't. The problem is NOT the program, whether the ilive Reader or the SC4PIM, to delete the groundtextures, it is something else, and this I don't know. Besides I am more familiar with the Reader and don't have the time to study SC4PIM at the moment.

That seems to be the buiding foundation,  &mmm
Have you read this tuto? http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=2443.0

Hope this help.

Nope, it's the LOD box breaking the water level.  You'll need to do skin tight lods to get that prop on the water surface.

It doesn't seem to be the foundation. How do you do skin tight Lods on a model ? Is there a tut somewhere?
I have no idea how to change the size of Lod's. Thanks for helping me out.

The LOD is the box that the model is displayed on in the game, so it's not true 3D.  It can be any size and shape, but the default from the BAT is a box that encompasses the entire model.  This is the most efficient for the game to handle.

You can change the size and shape of the LOD to anything you want.  In this case you want the LOD to be tight against the Hull at the waterline.  All you .need to do is model a shape that is tight to the hull and then is a simple box above the hull line to keep the poly count down.  Once you have the shape, call it LOD3 then copy it twice and call it LOD4 and LOD5

Hm.....thanks for clearing that up, I never thought we could change the size of those LOD Boxes. That is surely excellent to know, but there's a slight problem. I have received this model as a rendered modelfile, meaning going back to gmax and change the LOD's is kinda impossible. (and I have no idea who made it).
No other way around it to make it float without a groundtexture?

Thanks

Yes - the same way Peg did his bouys.

Something I don't understand, I have made many (and I mean some 50 or so models) that I had put on a waterlot and it never happened before and I never did any LOD adjusting. Just go see my CJ and MD or GRVII Challenge and you'll see dozens of waterplops without that darn texture showing. So, why all of sudden this one I cannot get to plop right without the glitch?
It just doesn't make sense to me.

I can't say for sure, but it looks almost as though the lot has a small foundation/retaining wall sticking just above the water. You could try checking that?

Well, joelyboy911, You're darn right. There was a foundation of some kind, because I build it on top of the Independance Hall Landmark lot this time, and usually I build *floaters* on the small 1x1 parklot. I didn't think that the foundations would stay when changing the building.
Anyways, I should have listened to Delecto , who guessed it in the first place. Sorry 'bout that, I will listen to you first, the next time ;)
Not that all the others haven't helped out or taught me a lot of things here, like adjusting the LOD's etc.
Hey thanks for having made this thread interesting to me and maybe others. Greatly appreciated.

That's right, all's well, ends well. Glad that is solved. Now I can continue with my MD as soon as I find the time to do so....thanks to you folks.
