hello
As everyone know, the plugin folder is located in My Documents. Is it possible to change the location? Iam out of space in C:/
(my plugins are 1.5GB)

do you mean all of your plugins are in program files? If so, then use the sc4 folder in mydocs. It has (I think) unlimited plugin space, and is where you should be putting most plugins.

SC4 is istalled to D:/
My Docs is at C:/

I am out of space on C:/

But I figured out that I can use the plugin folder in the game DIR.

But why did you say that plugin folder in My Docs have unlimited plugin space? Does that mean that the plugin folder in SC4 DIR dont have unlimited space?

There's no such thing as unlimited space when you're running on the C drive.  $%Grinno$%

I think the solution you need can be found in this thread. Look for "-userdir"

Oh, I didn't realize you were just out of space. I don't know how to help then, except maybe clean out your HD.

-About the plugins, the majority of people put most plugins in mydocs. I don't really know the exact reason, except that there is a difference in loading order. Maybe someone who knows more could elaborate... :)

Just noticed above post.  :D

The main difference is the loading order, obviously. Plugins in the Maxis folder load first, then MyDocs. For lots and models, loading order isn't that important. But for Mods, it is extremely important, which is why so many install to zz_ folders, so that they can be loaded last.

If the -userdir settings are too complicated, I would suggest moving all your model and lot files to your Maxis Plugins folder, on the D drive. But leave the mods where they are. This way, the installers for new downloads can still use the MyDocs Plugins folder, (which new ReadMe's will anyway) and you can keep new downloads seperate from your older ones, until you run out of room again, at least. This will give you a buffer zone for the new downloads.

Me, I DatPack everything before moving it into my Maxis/Plugins folder, adding the date to the filename, so that the next BSC.dat doesn't write over the previous one. Keeping a list of the files in each dat... but most people aren't as OCD about their Plugins as I am.

You can easily move the entire MY DOC's set of material (and windows will follow it to where ever you put it).. just "right click" the "my docs" folder and select "properties" and on that window you will see the second button is "move".. follow that through to move it to whereever you like.. restart the computer and you're done and that's the end of it.

If you do that you shouldn't have to modify any paths or startups because that folder is a special one treated as a system variable rather than a normal "folder"
