Worried about double download

Just a question
Do SC4Devotion and Simtropolis have the same files(BAT,LOT,buildings mods, props)?
I dont want to double download
most of my plugins are compressed so I cant check if I have andyhing duplicated.

another question, if I have something duplicated, what will happend ingame?

Most of the time, they are different. SimTropolis lets anyone upload to the STEX, while here at SC4Devotion, you have to be selected after showing some of your work to upload to the LEX. Some creators, like SimGoober, upload their creations to both the STEX and the LEX.

I have mine compressed too, but I keep a back up of the uncompressed plugins on a flash drive. Every once in a while, when I get enough new plugins, I delete the compressed ones, and compress the backups, along with the new plugins.

Hello BVG

Spa and SimGoober probably have the most duplicates. Many of the BSC folk use the LEX exclusively. I personally find it easier to support what I do and answer questions at only one web site. Others over time come to the same conclusion as we all have families and other interests that want our time and attention.

Regarding the second question: There should be no drastic problem such as a game crash due to a duplicate file. The game will simply select and use the last one loaded.

The thing I love about this site, is that it tell you if you have downloaded something before. "You have downloaded this 1 times ... last 2010/01/12". I wish simtropolis would be the same

SimTropolis does tell you, just not in the window. On the STEX, there is a sidebar, and it has a link that says My Downloads. It tells you what you downloaded.

It's also important to mention that most of the files available on the LEX are modded for use with CAM, where as files on other exchanges are generally for use with "Vanilla" Rush Hour/Deluxe. So even if there are what seem like duplicate lots, they aren't always exactly the same.
