Hey Guys, not sure if this can be done,or if I even know what I am talking about.Heres what I want to do. For example,I have a Louisville,KY map. When you are building Res,Com,lots, you have about 8 or so homes in each square that your road surrounds.I dont want 8 in that square,if it only let me put 2 would be better. I end up with 300 thousand or so per city and I dont want that. Not sure If I am making myself clear or not what I want done. Any Help!!

I'm not quite sure I'm following you, could you post a photo of your problem. You should be able to have as many or few homes between roads as you want.

Maybe you need to get a little bit more exact:

1) Do you want to have the same grid size (distance between roads), but only two big buildings occupying that area instead of say eight? In that case you can either plop bigger building or just wait for the city to develop. As wealth and density grows, smaller buildings will be replaced by bigger ones. That's the natural way a city grows.

2) Or do you have a problem with the auto-zoning function that automatically creates roads when zoning larger areas? In That case you should lay out your road network first in a way you like and then fill it with zones one by one.

By using the CTRL, ALT and SHIFT keys you can change the way the zone is created. Just play around with that, you will soon figure it out. However, you have to keep in mind that throughout the game stages, you possibly won't have a building that will grow on that zone. E.g. if you creat a zone sized 5 x 5 with low density and low wealth, there won't be a building to grow there, since poor people (offices) will reside on lots sized 1 x 2, 2 x 2 eg.
If it's a good idea, go ahead and do it. It's much easier to apologize than it is to get permission.

Knew I wouldn't say it right, lol. It's like when I'm dragging for a res zone,I make a sizeable zone.I didn't want 8 homes in that square. I don't want every city I build to have 300,000 res in it when the map I'm using is the city of Lville,Ky. So I guess I'm looking to make the home lots larger in the square to be just two instead of eight.I don't want to build a city in a city.

So if I get you right now you simply want bigger lots to grow so that e.g. in case of a zone sized 8x8 you will get 2 - 4 large residental houses instead of 8 small ones. AFAIK the only way to achieve this is by

--> following point 1) of my first answer (wait for high wealth residental housings to appear) as they will be bigger (e.g. 2x3 or 3x3 instead of 1x1 or 1x2)

--> add custom stuff from the LEX to have a greater variety of large-sized lots (as a matter of fact I don't know how many different large-sized buildings there are in the standard maxis game, but I guess far to few ..)

Also, if you want to keep the number of residentials low you should stick to (obviouosly  ;) ) low density zones, otherwise you will end up with big housing containing tons of people.

Well you could take a lot that you already have in your plugins and resize it. Say from a 2x3 lot to a 4x6, any size really. The building will still be the same size, just the yard will be bigger. Trouble is, you would need to add textures, props etc to the increased yard space. Alternatively, you could create your own lots using PIMX. Neither is a quick fix especially if you want a lot of variation in buildings.

There are a number of lots that grow on  a large lots (5x5, 6x6, 8x8 etc).. take a look at  some by BLS  and others..  that when they grow look like a lot of smaller houses.. I have quite few. They were uncommon a few years ago, but I see many more of them in the last year or two.  There are residential and industrial (I don't recall very many commercial but there may be some)
