•UPDATE TWO  Satelite CBD Part Two  23rd JANUARY 2008•
Okay, here's the second part of the Satellite CBD updates, of course some images from the first part can be found in the first post, because part one was posted at ST before I started this MD.  :P The Satellite CBD is the small urban area across the creek from the main one, which contains some smaller mostly residential (but some commercial) tower buildings, some light farming to the south and the cities garbage dump. It also contains some of the best BAT's ever produced thanks mostly to Pegasus, Prepo, Bixel and Odainsaker. Here's the update, enjoy!
By the way, I've tried to make these .jpg files as small as possible, only about 250kb each, for you dial up users.

That's all, thanks for viewing guys, Satellite CBD part three will be here soon.
Replies:
kwakelaar:  Hey thanks! Good to get feedback about the waterfront, by far that area takes the longest to develop.

mightygoose:  Haha, what, no only one of those is in the HoF and there's one more on the way :P. Thanks and I'm glad you liked it.

kimcar:  Hey thanks, I just wanted to post that many so people here on SC4D could get up to speed with where this project it at. Thanks for stopping by!

getdown11:  Thanks, and about the bridge, it doesn't have anything to do with the elevation on the other side, rather to do with my slope mod as like I told Shadow, Thanks.

Jmouse:  Hey thanks, and you're right, the region is very beautiful, one of the best I could find on the entire STEX. Thanks for your nice comments mate!

Looks great, excellent use of the SAM in the industrial areas. Great work, you're definitely doing a great job on this.
Best movie of all time: Ferris Bueller's Day Off. If you disagree, Cameron will send your car over a cliff.

Please, call me Leo.  I quote John Lennon now, a great musician and philosopher. Particularly, one of his songs: You may say I'm a dreamer. But I'm not the only one. I hope someday you join us, and the world will live as one.

Oh man... I love every update. The fire picture is especially delicious.
The most astounding and unique aspect of the human race is our fervent application of our ingenuity to kill each other, thus completely defying the near-universally proven fact that the ultimate goal of a member of a species is to ensure the survival of the species.

Nice update, Cockatoo-210893.
I'd like to single out a few photos, but that doesn't mean I don't like the rest! :)
I like the power plant in the second one -- very realistic. I see a couple of veryminor details that are a bit puzzling, but no big deal.
The nighttime mosaic is to die for, and I love the triangle-shaped building in the fourth pic. Later on, if you have the time and inclination, I'd enjoy seeing some captions describing the content and explaining how the photo fits into the grand scheme of things. (And does it really help to flip the photos?! ;))
In the next-to-last one, I'm curious about those things are sticking out over the highway. They look sort of like scenic overlooks and I wonder where you got them.
And of course, the best is for last. The fire photo is exceptional.

Until next time...

reminds me of Ale King of Sim City's journals. Thats like the best complement i can give out right there.

Seriously, I love your playing style, and that fire was really great.

Like the atmosphere in this MD. It's wonderful!

The images have a crispness to them... the building is non-linear (ie. griddy).

I'm no MD expert, but I like what I see!

A super fantastic update.  Your photoshoping skiils are very good.  That fire is very well done.  I wish I had more time to experiment with it.  But for now I'll be happy looking at your pics.

Robin

I cannot get over how impressive these pictures are, Cockatoo! Your highways, the placement of everything--it looks like you've put a lot of time into it, and that's before the magnificent Photoshopping you do, too. I can't wait to see what you're going do to next!

Yea, because I have a habit of flipping pictures, and only posting pictures that are taken on zooms 3,4 or 5, then I can really understand if it's hard for you to get a picture of the overall city in your head, because as of yet, I haven't posted any overall city images that show 'the grand scheme of things'.
Maybe this'll help you out.

Here's a Region Census satellite image of the Franklin Sound Inlet city:

And here's a little map I made to help you get an idea of where the districts are and how they all fit together, also you can see where the main waterways are:

Red-  The Main CBD
Green-  The Satellite CBD
Orange-  The Port and Suburban Area
Light Blue-  The Holiday District (With PEG's Mountain Homes)
Yellow-  The Garbage Dump
Dark Blue-  The Farming District
White-  The Hotel District

This is only one tile? Impressive, though it shows SC4's "lack of realism" when trying to build large regionwide cities when you can make quite realistic city to one tile.

Pat Riot

impressive shot. Thats one huge ship in the top left  ;D

Jmouse

These overviews are a great help, Cockatoo. I'll copy the second and put it on my desktop along with several other annotated shots from MDs I'm following.
Thanks!

Until next time...

Beautiful region shot, my friend! The development looks fantastic! Keep up the good work!

Amazingly amazing ! Seen your CJ on ST first, and didn't comment ! It's so RListic ! Love it ! The developement is coherent, the pcitures beautiful,

whatelse ? ^^

CabraBuitre

Great work!  Whereas others didn't like the many different styles, I think it actually is more realistic... SOME cities (or rather, parts of cities, like Paris) are similar in style, but if you look at the majority of large cities, they are a conglomeration of lots of different styles, especially modern ones.
