DORTMUND Ruhrschnellweg

Entering from the west we first encounter the " Westfalenhallen" a large convention-center. Behind it is the (old and new) stadium of " BVB 09 Dortmund"

Close-up shot of the highway near city-center and park

Fernsehturm in beginning of autumn seen from the south with on forground " Westfalenpark"

More to the east we encounter the "S-bahn"  of "Dortmund" an interregional passengerservice of tramcarrages that also travel underground..

More zoomed out on the area. The junction between B1 and B236 in the east of "Dortmund"

It's good to see we have some "Ruhrpotters" around here and they can see clearly how I'm doing on the recreation of this stunning area.. It still surprises me how different the landscaping between cities can be.

See you next time!!

Great update.  I have a very hard time building on hilly terrain and here you have done a pretty good job, I envy you.

DORTMUND Outskirts

Hauptfriedhof in "Dortmund-Ost". A cemeterie for WorldWar II soldiers.

View on the harbors of "Dortmund". Located in the north of the city..

View on "MünsterstraBe" in the northern suburbs.

Condo-complexes near "Dortmund-Scharnhorst", in the north-east of the cities outskirts.

Next update, we'll take a closer look on the cities center. I think more exciting as this update....

Fantastic update there! And great work on the cemetery! Good pictures!

The Dortmund outskirts look great! I especially like the suburbs, those look fantastic.

DORTMUND Zentrum

This time we'll take a closer look on the city-center. With heavy bombings in world war II, this city hasn't such a beautiful historic center as for example "Essen". The main rail-station is north of the shopping centers and is situated on the mainline "Ruhrgebiet <-> Hamm"

Main station in the city; "Dortmund HBF"..

The station with parts of the center

The northern suburbs, just across the raillines

A total view of the area, a real maze of roads and more roads!

Next update will contain some heavy industry around "Dortmund"...

The areas near the HBF is looking wonderful, ejc! Great work on it!

It looks like four train stations put altogether in LE.
You can see one white one in the back, one in the front, one to the left and the one on the right is by ill tonkso and can be found here.[LINKIE]  And that's one of Glenni diagonals on the front of the LOT which can be found here. [LINKIE]
As for the rest I can't figure them out off the top of my head.

ejc, very brilliant idea, and very well done I must say.

DORTMUND Werke

In and around Dortmund we find very large factories. steel Mills, coal mining and energy plants. All very heavy industry that was build right within suburbs. Now, these project are all demolished and being replaced by housing projects. I've build Dortmund "the oldschool-way" with large factories in the city (just to apply heavy industry demandings within the SC4-region)

Hoesch-area in the south of Dortmund. Mostly demolished nowadays, but here in full force; large steel mills and furnaces joined together

very close zoom on the heavy industry.. more dirty it don't get I think...

Westfalenhütte more north in Dortmund. An even larger area filled with heavy industry. More polluting and more dirty.. This is situated north-west of the center and is almost as large as the entire center!!

@Rooker / thundercrack83: the station is indeed jammed together 4 original stations.. Not within LE, but just placing it right within SC4.. You allready gave some links; thanks!! The other stations and platforms are made by some Japanese guys and I found those I think 3 years ago somewhere in the "massive japanese BAT gallery" it's not to find for me anymore. You should travel along the pages such as NOBs, maybe it's somewhere there..

EJC, tremendous updates here - I really love the way all of the attention to detail from the transport networks to the low and high density areas - the last shot showing Westfallenhuette is just brilliant. Thanks for sharing this amazing recreation!

rushman5

Don't stop churning out the ridiculously realistic regional views, that way I can stop my prating alliteration!

thundercrack83

Lovely heavy industry, ejc! It looks very realistic. And thanks again to you and Robin (rooker1) for the tips on that rail station!

paroch

Great updates ejc, as always.

I also agree that the Dortmund HBF is fantastic.  I'd say it might be the best and most realistic station I've seen on SC4 - well done.

Dortmund is a city in Germany, located in the Bundesland of North Rhine-Westphalia, in the Ruhr area. Its population of 587,830 (20 June 2005) makes it the largest city in the region, 7th-largest in Germany, and 34th-largest in the European Union. The Ruhr river flows south of the city, and the small river Emscher flows through the municipal area. The Dortmund-Ems Canal also terminates in the Dortmund Port, which is the largest European canal port, and links Dortmund to the North Sea. Dortmund is known as Westphalia's "green metropolis". Nearly half the municipal territory consists of waterways, woodland, agriculture and green spaces with spacious parks such as Westfalenpark and the Rombergpark. This contrasts with nearly a hundred years of extensive coal mining and steel milling within the city limits.

So far Dortmund.. Next update we'll go even more west, towards the city of "Unna" and it's surroundings..

That's is looking very great, ejc!
And very realistic recreation!!

thundercrack83

That picture of the GLR train going up the hill is one of the best I've seen in a long time! It looks extraordinary, as do the rest of the pictures of Dortmund! Keep up the good work, my friend, and I'll be back to see more!
