Hey. These are fantastic downtown's and CBD's. Makes me wanna post some of mine from my top city of all, Ringerstene. Sadly, even after 500 years of work, it ain't done yet, 'cause some of my districts are regressin'....gotta figure that out.

Anyway, I've been lookin' all over for this one buildin', and I'm havin' huge trouble findin' it. Alec, Crazychicken, where'd ya find this gem, and if ya could post a link to the site or source? Thanx.

thundercrack83

Great job, everyone! These downtowns and CBD's look fantastic!

Thanks to some great feedback I've done extensive work fixing up my downtown. Here's it currently.

EDIT: oops, i deleted this pic off my hosting account, sry.

Some really cool city centres! Here's a few of my developing CBD in Sutton, taken from my CJ Royal Cytheria at Simtrop.

Also for those of you who do follow my CJ at Simtop...here's a pinky peek at the New Stock Exchange in Sutton.  :D

lol  ;)

AK: Funny...for some reason, that Sears Tower works very well in your city... ;).  Do you ever get tired of hearing "Nice work," or "I'm in awe of what you've created," or "You make me want to quit SC4 because I know I'll never get anywhere near your level?"  Because I don't know if it'll ever stop...

pipishere: Nice developements!  And I like that Stock Exchange, except whose idea was it to make it pink? ( %wrd...I'm sorry... :-[).

Anyways, I don't really have any new pictures to show...but I kinda do.  These are just ones that I've altered in The GIMP (free photo editor) and I thought they looked pretty good.  And as there isn't a thread to show off altered photos (yet... ;)), and since they're both taken in a downtown area, I'd thought I'd show 'em here...

First, a picture with Geometry building in focus...

And a neon picture that I think really brings out the 3rd dimension in the SkyTower:

Masochist - Very nice altered images.....especially the 3D/Neon one with the Skytower!

This is downtown Victoria; the capital of my perpetually upcoming CJ, Carinthia.

AK:  Fantastic job as always!  You never cease to amaze . . .

Pipisphere:  Nice pics! I like the use of the Gateway arch, the construction lots, and the neon pink shot is very neat.

Masochist:  Nice edits there, with the perspective and the neon glow really does bring out the 3-dimensionality, as well as providing a certain surrealistic/futuristic flair.

ElPhantasmo69:  I really like that downtown area you have there, particularly the amount of open space, with all those really nice-looking parks.

Well, here's probably the first shot I've shown of anything here . . . this is downtown area of Argentum, which probably my best city at the moment (though it still needs a lot of work in my opinion).  I've been working on it for about a year, and it dates back to the time when I first discovered the great online SC4 community and all the custom content and MDs/CJs, so it is a loaded with Maxis stuff.  This is actually one of the densest areas I've ever built, as I'm generally big on ultra low-density, but the population of the whole large city tile is still only 43,000.

Tarkus: Your downtown looks good! It looks like a small quaint city. Great work!
ElPhantasmo69: Great job! I love mix of tall skyscrapers and the smaller buildings in between.

Masochist

ElPhantasmo69: Nice downtown!  I like the flow of things...you've got a very nice range of mid/tall/ultra-tall buildings, but nothing really dominates over the other buildings, so nothing seems too out of place.  And I agree with everyone else: the liberal amounts of open space is very nice!  It's part of the reason why I like AK's stuff so much.  I have to ask you:  that building in the top left part of the picture (with the big park/pond in front of it)...what function does it serve in that city?  Is it like a capitol building?  Just wondering...

Tarkus:  I tried to create an area in my city that I was hoping would look something like that.  It ended up being my cities largest ghetto  &sly.  It's good to see that some people can succeed in making a nice mid-high wealth, mid-high density res area!  Good work!

Everyone: Thanks for your comments on my pictures!  I really do appreciate them!  ()stsfd()

Cali, thundercrack83 and Masochist:  Many thanks for the comments/compliments.  Here's a couple more shots of downtown Argentum.  As far as getting mid-high wealth/density residential, I had a rather strange strategy.  This city (like the vast majority of mine) actually has no mass transit.  Call me crazy.

ElPhantasmo69

Everyone: Thanks for your comments! It really helps boost confidence to get great feedback like that.

Masochist: That area is part of the Capital district. What you see there is the Obelisk of Prince Philip, below that is the Carinthia National Cemetery, The Reflecting Pond with a Statue of King Frederik I, and on the right and partially obscured by the bluish skyscraper, is the Queen Sophie Memorial (wife of Frederik I). Other buildings not shown in the photo will be uploaded tonight if I get a chance.

SIMMANIA

Aleking, your work is totally insane ! Bravo !
