Lerist: I love the canals and the cathedral in your picture and the abundance of highrises gives a special effect to both, since they create a nice open space, and thus make the whole picture quite spacious. If you would have centered the canal/cathedral in the picture, it would've been even better.

Simpson: As I've said before, the picture looks really good, and I like the setup. The overall picture looks a bit dead, since there are nearly no cars on the road, and the only pedestrians are grouped on the broadwalk. Furthermore, the picture would've gained some more colour by showing a small part of the water below the seawalls.

My vote goes to Lerist;

Lerist: I love the contrast of the massive highrise buildings and the canals. Quite good composition. I also like how the buildings are all of one style instead of just anything large plopped... (Which is the case in lots of downtown CBD's)

Simpson: Nice photoshopping. Although I agree with Casper: It needs more life. A couple more cars or people would help it. But a nice picture otherwise.

Actually (pending official ruling of course), I think the only thing he took away was something that was never there to begin with.

This again is pending official ruling (and if the above is wrong, please go ahead and get rid of it).

Now then, on to the vote. While I like Simpson's pic, there are a few technical issues that I see (the grid along the plaza/raised park and that menu button-I pick on that in this competition mainly because it is easy to remove and usually does little for the pic when it is in it) but visually it is a nice pic overall. Lerist's pic, though very dense as I have mentioned in the past, has no technical errors that I can see. The canals and cathedral are interesting to see among the towers. Though I still think the pic could benefit from the removal of a few buildings here and there and perhaps widening the streets, Lerist's pic gets my vote this round.
