Thanks guys - Lansdowne terrace has been submitted to go through the modding & testing stages now...

Next up is a medium sized CS$$$ Department store. Based on an old demolished department store called Farmers & Myers.

What ever happen to this?

Hate to bump this topic... but I have a request. :P

What about the Queen Victoria Building in Sydney? It'd look great in SC4. :P

Haven't had much time for batting (but I have the Queen Vic Building about 1/4 way done - I have been doing it for some time)....yesterday, however, I cleaned out some old files.

For those unfamiliar with these styles of terraces, they are quite common in Sydney and Mebourne and are known as 'boom' style. Built in the late 1800s after the boom of the gold rush, they had just about every conceivable style adorning their facades, and look somewhat like an over-festooned wedding cake.

Here is a similar RL example, from Paddington in Sydney

Hey Matt,

I've been checking here regularly to see what was on the go.  (You know I am a fan of ALL your stuff).

The Boom houses look fantastic.  When you say "clearing out files", does that mean these were never released?  I've not seen them but would love to have them   Are you planning on releasing them?

I appreciate they are Australian buildings, but IMHO they would work so very well with much of GasCookers UK Suburban homes.  I have a small quad that I'm about to start work on, and my plan was to use Gascooker exclusively in it, just to get a different look and feel - but I'd love to include these as well.

All the best,

Paul

Thankyou all for the kind words

Cottage (or Ferme) Ornée. Essentially conceived as a small-scale villa, this style was revived in the early 20th century as a 'cottage in the round'. It borrowed from many styles and freely mixed them all within the same palette.

Such a home in the early 20th Century, although compact (unlike todays cottages ornée which are referred to as McMansions), would present itself on all sides to a garden front, with a lawn and groups of trees and is designed to be interesting and picturesque no matter which aspect it is viewed from.

The Dover                                                                                            The Wilmore

The Radford                                                                                      The Gateshead

The Essex                                                                                       The Castleton

As you can see, the is 'olde' English, Spanish revival, Federation and American Eclectic - these homes are from various pattern books which date from 1905-1936

Also, cottages ornée, being contemporary to the arts and crafts movement, were often placed at slights angles from the street frontage:

These are all designed to sit on 1x2 and 2x2 lots and even though they are angled, they are not designed only for corner positions.

These would be delightful additions to any suburb- well done, good looking and very realistic.

Excellent selection you've created there. The angles are quite fitting for the somewhat eccentric designs, and the lots work with the buildings pretty well, though some of them seem a bit close to the property lines (to keep in line with the garden-view-from-all-sides thing). I like the look though. Good work.

now that is what I'm talking about...great new pads, matt &apls

Those are truly beautiful houses, Matt!

Hi Matt... I like the details and the scale and color palette look good. The homes at the slight angles will really pop on corner lots! I think I see cycledog textures? That will really compliment his contributions and make my cities look nicer for sure. Will there be color variations for each model? Foundations may be difficult based on the nooks and corners but I'll still ask if that is in the works too?
