Well, while the teaser in the top looked pretty decent, most other parts of Victoria didn't, and unemployment reigned in Victoria, so I decided to rebuilt it from scratch.
Here's the current transportation layout.

Have fun,
Casper

I found that it was about time for a true Downtown in Highsbury...

I hope you liked it, and don't be afraid to give suggestions!

Not bad teaser really. Funny that Highbury is showcased for so long and this is the first sign of the CBD in there ;)

The biggest suggestions I'd have are:
1. Don't build buildings so close to each other. It looks messy :)
2. Work on the transition from the downtown to suburbs. It's pretty abrupt. ;)

Well, can't wait for an update/more teasers ;)

Another excellent set of teasers Casper!  I like the rail lay out!
-The "sun" is a bit bright in the latest teaser, but other than that, great work!

Best,

This is well-designed as always, Casper.  You have selected some good skyscrapers, and I don't see any skyscraper that appears twice.  Very good!

metarvo: Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed the history. And yeah, RHW v21 is great.
Haljackey: Thanks!
bat: Thank you.
mrtnrln: Yeah, the story is a tad sad, but it all the deceased founders were needed for the next History episode...
art128: Thanks!
Sheep: I'm glad you like the update, and well, yeah, the windmills aren't exactly wonderful, but I've downloaded some new ones now.
JoeST: Thank you!
threestooges: Thanks alot, the fenced area/park has indeed no gate to it, but it has a very particular reason, that might be revealed in further History sections.
thundercrack83: Thanks for your continuing support.
Earth quake: Thanks!
sim-al2: Yes, it is a GLR 90° Turn in that roundabout. It's a great addition, together with the GLR Plus and T-intersections within Roundabouts.
Youcefk69: Thanks, I'm trying to make the city look fairly American.
sciurus54: Thanks alot!
Pat: Thanks!

Update 17: Highsbury Victoria
Highsbury Victoria is, like you all know, the first actual CBD area that Highsbury has. Thanks to the very low taxes on commercial buildings, businesses have boomed around here.

A small pond, during summer used for swimming and finishing, and during winter used for ice skating.

Highsbury's local Champion store, embedded in more suburbs. Highsbury Traffic Control (HTC) have done a bad job in aligning the Traffic Lights on this intersection, causing them to be green and red at the same time for both directions...

A rare 4-way Avenue Intersection, close to Victoria County High School of Arts and dwellers from all wealths.

A train passes by on the embankment, right where the embankment, for one track, is sloping in to a sunken part.

Some non-polutant industries have gathered the right to build in the middle of the suburbs.

Suburbs near the Station Canal.

The Station Canal was designed in a very particular and special way, making a complete avenue run in it's middle. Houses at both borders of the canal sell for extremely high prices.

Some odd restaurants and a hotel close to the canal. As you can see, here there is no avenue running in the middle of the canal, but two GLR-in-Avenue's running alongside of it, connecting to all spur GLR lines around the city.

Downtown by Day.

Suburbs at nighfall, near the Sunken Railway Fractional Curve.

And, to end with, Downtown by Night.

That concludes this update, I hope you've all enjoyed it, and don't forget to post a reply ;)

Your city is looking fantastic! Great pictures of that one!
And nice use of the GLR!

btw, my 6150th post here...

Sheep49

Generally nice update. Good mixture of buildings adds more American look to Victoria

GLR is also used in the right way: not too much, not too little of it ;)

Since it has more good things than bad things in it, instead of writing all the good ones, let me tell you worse things :P

- Shots at 'night' should be IMO shot in the middle of the night, not at the end of the day
- Pond in the 1st pic is too regular for me. Have you seen such a rectangular lake in the RL? ::)
- Too many rail gentries in the 4th pic. How about getting rid of the middle one?
- Things I mentioned in my comment of the last teaser :P
- In the name of the update it should be 1st instead of 1th

Generally good update ;) I really like it :)

You've been showcasing some great stuff here Casper and whilst I may not comment that often (sorry) just thought I should drop by to say well done.  The last update is great, a nice looking suburb with some great looking transport networks.  That GLR station with the pedestrian crossings is really nice - not sure I've seen it before.

All the best,

Paul

The Highsbury Transport Committee needed a new Headquarters as soon as possible, so a fairly modern building was drawn out. However, the Government is not not yet sure where they will build the structure, either near the Downtown or in the Suburbs. And they decided to do a referendum...

Which setting do you vote for?
  • Downtown Victoria
  • Victoria's Suburbs
