Rayden:  You're a sick man (unless you're still in high school!)   :D  Thank-you!

Yeah, on my age I should behave a little more, but, you know what, that only applies to what my ID says about my age, and I completely disagree with it ;D

Thanks for all this great work, I'm sure I'm gonna use it for sure, like I'm already using previous ones.

I'm really lovin' the girls dorm color/texture!

M:  Thanks!  Don't forget... this is a private boarding school, not a university (although it certainly could be)... just to avoid any confusion.

Oldrogue:  Thank-you!  Yeah... sleep is good, but why bother?   ::)

Gaston:  Those are some cool pictures.  Thanks for posting that!  Actually... that movie I mentioned that inspired parts of this campus was shot (if I remember correctly) at some college in Virginia, so the similarities to Tennessee don't suprise me too much.

Cali:  Thank-you!  I seem to be forcing a lot of waiting on people lately... glad you're patient!

Jacky:  Thanks!  I think the nature lover in you will enjoy this next one even more!

Rayden:  I completely agree... my favorite motto is "I have to get older, but I don't have to grow up!"

Vicki:  Glad you like it, thanks!

Just a quick update today.  Ivy was suggested a while ago and was really in my mind from the beginning, but I've had a lot of trouble getting it right.  I think I finally got close enough to show it.  It's still not quite perfect, but it definitely adds a whole new element that I'm pretty happy about.

Ah, it all makes sense now! It's a Private School! What a great idea! lol

Sorry, I was a bit slow on that one. It really, really looks good, and like some artsy fartsy fancy schmancy school that any region / city needs!  :P

I also love the Ivy! That looks really great, actually, and gives it character!

Looking forward to more!  ;D

marcszar is right about the ivy looking like a recent addition (though it still looks good like that) but the aging would look good too. One thing I notice though (it may be perfectly natural for it to happen) is that the ivy seems to have (nearly) the same pattern of growth on opposite sides of the building. It doesn't look bad (and if it is an added texture I understand how it would be simpler to to it that way) but I would expect for something natural like that to have a more random growth pattern (and perhaps 1-2 gaps on its way up the wall since there are many long "strands" working up the wall). I hope that made sense, if not please let me know and I'll try to clarify; but very good job. The ivy is a great touch and looks pretty dang good the way it is now. You've raised the bar again, but you shouldn't have any trouble meeting your new standards though.

Cali

i love the ivy, but i do agree with TS. The ivy could use more spacing, maybe add some discoloration as to show age. But it still rocks!

M:  Yes... I'm kind of aiming for one of those prep schools in Vermont that all the rich kids from NYC and Boston go to!   ;)  I'm glad you like the ivy.  I really like the effect... although it's a pain to work with!

Marcszar:  Nice to see you again!  That's exactly the tip I needed.  I saw the transition issue, but wasn't real sure how to fix it.  Thank-you!

FromTheAshes:  Thanks!  Glad you like it.

Threestooges:  Getting ahead of me again, I see...  :D  I do plan to "mix things up" a little more.  You're right, at the moment the "plants" on each side are basically the same, but that will change along with thinning out some spots and thickening others. It's not actually a texture though... each plant is modeled and contains roughly 2000 "leaves."  Might not be the easiest way to do it, but it gave me the definition I needed.

Cali:  Yeah... yeah... yeah....   Do this, do that...  I know, I know.   :D  I'll get more done tonight... but 1AM just came too early last night and I'm too old to pull all nighters anymore.

More next time!

Quite nice, love the aged look that the ivy will achieve.... The skules I attended were west coast plastic modern, always look with envy at the New England preps and
small colleges.....somehow more dignified and I bet they had better beer also &idea

It's actually a girl's dorm Sebes! *rolls eyes* You're not paying attention!  :D

I'm joking of course! Just trying, unsuccessfully I believe, to be patronising! :P

But, I agree with you! I love the Ivy!  ()stsfd() Even though it might inflict a certain amount of pain on our friend JBSimio here, I can assure him (that's you JBSimio :P) that it will be worth it in the end... at least for us!  :P

Good luck, yet again, and I'm sure it's going to be amazing in the end!  &apls

It's all coming along well... Just one thing though, I really think the boiler needs to be dirtied up a bit more... It seems just a bit too 'fresh' if you know what I mean. Particularly the smokestack.

Vicki:  Thanks!

Sebes:  Ivy!  WooooHoooo!  Thanks!

Oldrogue:  I went to college in Minnesota, so I was always jealous of the rich snobs on the east coast too!  lol  (Disclaimer from JB's lawyers:  The term "rich snobs" as used in the context of this particular post was written in a purely humorous manner.  It is in no way meant to be derogatory and/or condescending towards any persons who are or ever have been financially blessed over and above the national average.)

M:   :D  I wouldn't call it painful... just very time consuming!

Storms:  Thank-you!

Cammo:   Yes, I agree.  The boiler textures aren't quite finished yet... I got sidetracked by lighting and have yet to get back to that part!  Thanks!

Just a small update today.  "Time consuming" is almost an understatement.  I spent most of last night "tweaking" the ivy... letting it grow, pruning it back, letting it grow some more... watching ivy grow is almost as bad as watching paint dry!  It also seems to need a lot of encouragement to do so... it wouldn't grow at all if I just left it alone, so I had to sit there and baby it along!   ::)  I also darkened the texture a smidge, added a little noise, and then took Marc's advice for the brick textures.  It's all quite subtle, but I think it definitely helped.

I'm hoping I can call this building done and move on to the next one... but I've been wrong before, so you tell me.   ()stsfd()

Everything looks great (as usual), but the one thing I would comment on (figures I would find something just as you were planning to wrap up) is that, for such large vines, they seem to have very small bases/root structures (though that may be completely normal... I don't know much about ivy). Either way, it looks great.

Now that looks super cool.  Great job and what a great addition this will be once completed.
