Quote from: j-dubnever heard of 3D models being able to be turned into automatta.
You apparently haven't seen the automata that I have done. $%Grinno$%  All of my automata started as 3D models. I have a process that I use to get them into the game. The automata models aren't as detailed as the 3D models, but the graphics I create are detailed enough to give the illusion of them being detailed.

I don't think I ever have seen it being done. I have seen the regional runner train, but didn't see it getting made.

That train your working on is great! Very realistic &apls

It is advanced modeling and modding compared to other custom content. At the moment, I'm apparently the only custom content author who can do it. :( Some day, I will write a tutorial on how it is done. The problem is I hate making pictures and having to host the pictures somewhere. Most of my tutorials that I have written are pure text, which I find easier to handle. &mmm

Well I always use picvalley.net to host, since you don't have to type your email in all the time, and its really a simple image hoster, unlike image shack.

@ehbk2006, well at least we know the answer to how difficult the automatta process would be for the bus. I wondered why Maxis didn't render props and automatta the same, now we know.

Please do . Maybee you can type your tutorial in word and then print it with a pdf writer. For example with CutePDF (freeware).

Br 152 render in 3ds-max:

Today I finished some Belgian railway models and rendered them with the BAT in to sc4.models.

Here's a render from 3dsmax (they will be much smaller in sc4 but recognizable):

Now, I want to place the models besides the railway's on a lot. Is there are an easy way to create a Lot which I can place on top of a railway? Instead of placing it besides it (like the lots in the Redflex pack), tutorials would be nice.  ;)

Thanks in advance.

There is. I'd recommend using SC4Tool's Transit-Enabling editor to do this. To prevent the trains from jumping tracks while traveling through the lot, set the travel direction to one axis only (ie North-South). Otherwise, the trains may "switch" over to adjacent rail tiles after entering your lot.

There is one by Emilin: Transit enabled lots - the easy way

Thank you very much, for the both of you.

One tip: make a lot of the catenary that can be placed beside the railway track (oh, and don't forget the diagonals! The props must be overhanging props, because it's really tricky to make diagonal TE lots).

Thanks for the tip  I will use that one for the diagonal pieces.

I can only say that they're amazingly realistic, both the signs and the catenaries.

I think it would probably be the best if you included the offset versions for all signs and catenaries in all orientations, as using network enabled pieces can be tricky sometimes.

Here's a screen of the Lots in game:

I also put a Beta version in the attachments.

Known issues:

1) When you save the 'base texture' disappears (black hole)
2) The brown tiles surrounding the Lots.

I miss a offset catenary (and lights)  for orthagonal pieces. For some people, that could be an issue. But still, it looks great!

What do you mean with a offset catenary? If you mean the overhanging prop Lots, they are in it in both diagonal directions.

Well, it would be great to also have a offset-version for the straight pieces. Other than that, looking great!

As requested, added offset gantry. I will do the offset signals later on.

If you use PEG's alternate railway mod, this will get rid of these brown tiles surrounding the lots. OR you could go in the LE and put the same brown texture surrounding the catenaries under the tracks on the lot.

I think I'll go for option 1
