io_bg: Thanks, I'm pretty fond of them myself. They were made by the Japanese lotter Kazuki, and can be found here.
deathtopumpkins: Thank you!
pilotdaryl: Thanks, it feels good to have an airline-addicted person like you say that  ::)
bat: Thank you!
Paroch: Thanks a lot, good luck with your airport. I'm looking forward to see it.
mrtnrln: Thanks!
threestooges: Thanks a lot. The wealthy building is indeed a residential, and holds 84 residents.
art128: Thank you.

Teaser: Clayhurst University
Thanks to the recent expansion of Highsbury, the government was finally able to fund a University Complex. Soon enough, Clayhurst University was built in Amersham.

The Modular University Set used to build this complex was BATed by JBSimio and can be found exclusively on the SC4D/LEX DVD, which costs only €25!

Well, technically they gave it to you after you contributed to the site (incendentally, good work on that), but yeah, nice to see you're putting it to good use. It looks like a fine facility, and I have a feeling that's only part of it. Happen to know which particular residential building that was from the past update? Pretty impressive thing, holding 84 resident.

Two wonderful new teasers there! Great work on it! Nice city, too!

deathtopumpkins

threestooges: Yeah, you're right about the donation. Unfortunately though, I have no idea where that building is downloadable, or how it is actually named (well, I could find that out if I wanted to open up SC4 now..), but I'm pretty sure it should be at the LEX somewhere.
bat: Thanks!
deathtoppumpkins: Well, since the current rate is -> 1 EURO = 1.4005 USD, it 'costs' only $35, and, take it from me, it's darn worth it, both the content that is on it, as is the donation to the site. Thank you!

Teaser: Highsbury Seaport
Anyone remember the Seaport that I talked about a few updates back? Well, here it is!

Thanks go out to Ripptide and BarbyW's WIMPS (Wharves for Industrial and Military Ports) set, that is used throughout the waterfront!

The question is.. who will it be named after?

Merry Christmas to Everyone!

Teaser: Highsbury Seaport
Highsbury Seaport is not only located in Clapham,  it is actually mainly situated in Lewisham, with a small spur to Clapham.

For those interested, here is an overview of Lewisham so far: Click Me, I'm a Link!

Wonderful second teaser there of that seaport! And the overview is also great! Wonderful work on it!

deathtopumpkins

whoa! That whole port area is huge! And very well planned-out, I must say. But where can one find this WIMPs you speak of?

Nice looking area Casper. The industrial setup looks good. Plenty of density without seeming overcrowded and it avoids the random assemly that industrial areas can tend to have in  game. The docking areas on the bottom right look a bit narrow, but it looks like you could still squeeze a boat in there. If work is still progressing on the area you might consider removing one of the piers to get a bit more room. Either way I'm looking forward to seeing the full completed port.

Casper,
Nice work... Makes me curious about a region view or a city view that shows layout of your port. Even if it's not complete, that would be interesting.
Could you show that to us?

deathtopumpkins: Thanks alot, the WIMPs set can be found here (LEX).

Ste. Barbara International Seaport is Completed!
Yes, you guessed right, the Seaport is named after the BarbyW, the "LEX Goddess". Not only is she always ready to help me with whatever issue I have or advice that I need, she was also the person who lotted the beloved WIMPS set. Moreover, it's her birthday today, congratulations!

A Matson-Ship entering the harbour, is preparing to dock.

A large containership has just set sail to Vancouver.

Some industries on both docks.

The containership, in the meanwhile, is passing a somewhat overused functional seaport.

With big harbours come big railyard, and Ste. Barbara is no exception to that!

Trust me, I cannot build a quad full of dirty industry, so there's more suburbs too.. the land prices here are fairly low though, mostly due to the thick smog.

More suburban dwellings

The bridgehead leading up to Matt Damon Bridge.

More port activity

The previous pictures were taken in Highsbury Lewisham, but this and the next are from Clapham, it's sistercity.
Clapham, although it owns 1/3th of Ste. Barbara Internation, has choosen to primarily keep a nice and quaint suburban neighbourhood, while Lewisham choose for the industrial giants' bribes, with a small mall area as a touch.

Some people won't believe me, but Clapham is actually a total overhaul of Highsbury Center, one of the first quads I've showcased. It was interesting to see how my playing style and skills developed over time, and change things that do longer seem logical, or do not fit with the newer playing styles. It seems that the boat in the far down corner of the canal has attempted to take his corner way to early, or oversteered...

The canal forms a clear division between the modern housing at the bottom, and the traditional 19th Century Housing on the top.

Yes, the Wide Avenue Concept has returned! I actually delete all development, but did not remove the roads nor avenues. See here, back on Page 10, for more examples of them.

One of the rich industrials has decided to settle in a somewhat oversize villa in Clapham. Why, you say? Because he can.

Well, that end today's update. I hope you've enjoyed it, even though the picture editing was a bit grimy, and that you will post a reply.

Please wish BarbyW a happy birthday!

BarbyW

Wow, Casper, a whole port named after me. Thank you so much and thank you for the birthday wishes too. I love the way you have set it all out and  hope the overused seaport upgrades soon or you may have to add another in.
Nice set of pics. I must keep an eye on this MD.

That is a nice update there Casper - have I told you before I really like great suburbs  ;)  and you have given us another very good suburb indeed.  The wide avenues is a nice approach - often times houses are accessed from roads other than dual carriageways and yours is a nice approach to this.

The port is alos looking good.  I am getting ready to build the port area of West End, so this is nice for some ideas.

threestooges

Well done on this update Casper (and thanks for the plug, heh heh). The port turned out great, and looks even better close up. I haven't fiddled around with the functional seaports yet, but it looks like they do get used well here. The rail yard looks good, though a bit of space between it and the road might have been good (or perhaps a fence to prevent people wandering out there), but I'll tell you, I live by some tracks and a train went by, sounding its horn, when I was looking at that pic. Took me a second to realize the train was actually outside.

Also, Happy Birthday Barby. Hope your day was good.

Fantastic work on that port there! It is looking beautiful! And wonderful town there near it!!

btw, congrats on more than 20000 views!!

Dear Friends and Viewers,

I have been trying hard to get Highsbury Grove up and running again, but it seems that every single tile has corrupted, along with most of the files that I had on my D: partition, including back-ups and the actual files. Thus, I have lost Highsbury Grove as it previously was, but I have decided to keep up the work I have been doing, and just restart from scratch.

Instead of doing a bunch of unrelated cities that somehow share a common building style, which Highsbury Grove really was until now, I have decided to actually try and build a region behind it. Still, don't expect any wonderful terraforming, since I've been using plain flat tiles for way to long these days. I have decided to do a 4x4 Medium Tile region, which may sound ridiculously small, but instead of pushing me to create more and more quads, I will instead keep revisiting each of them, in the end.

As you know, Highsbury is a region and a Mayors' Diary full of all kinds of Custom Content, ranging from housing and airports to malls and parks. However, many of you may have noticed how I am very picky in the content that I use, as a lot of things keep returning over and over again. This is not because I do not like the content that I do not use, but it is mainly to create a coherent region, with a very recognizable style. I love both vanderaap's Amsterdam BATs and SOMY's Japanese Housing, but they seem they don't really go together in one region, at least in my personal taste.

I have also extracted a lot of ideas from other Mayors' Diaries around here, and I'm very thankful towards everyone who's ideas I may have (accidentally) 'recycled'.

I hope that everyone had a great celebration and that everyone will have a most excellent 2009, with a lot of Highsbury updates...
