I think (oops, sorry, but since I got old and crotchety I don't follow instructions worth a damn!) that building is absolutely stunning!  It would have been a treat to go to a school that is so lovely!

Psst... tell you a secret?  In RL I have an small team of architects working for me and don't have a clue what they talk about - but fancy the result of their work a lot!

The main building is a dream! You're free to confuse me as much as you wish if this is the result.

Actually, being confused isn't so bad...after a few years you learn to cope...I know that after practising for the last few decades.. :D

And since we are on the subject.... I also am loving following the progress of your work, and while I may carp about the wait...it is all in fun........and I didn't have my fingers crossed when I typed that.... ()stsfd().....

I think SimTrop is dying so I might move my thread here, but it's also going to be on skyscrapercity in the Tampa/St. Pete forum.
Anywho I mean every word, I don't think people realize how hard it is to make a low rise building look good unless they've attempted it.
SKy Scrapers are so much easier. Anywho! I gotta get to bed, I just finish a physics lab write up with my girlfriend, I gotta study my Analytical Geometry again. Peace!

M:  Thanks!  The park compliant texture actually seems to be matching up quite well so far with the campus layout.  I want to render the athletic building tonight and get it on the lot before I try to get some updated pictures for that end of things.

Derek:  I'm hoping maybe next week for School Packs One through Three.

Vicki:  Thank-you!  It's buildings like this that almost make me wish I could do the interiors as well.  I can just picture all the wood work and built in cabinetry... Oh well, the outside is more than enough work as it is!   :D

Sebes:  Thanks!  I'll try to keep the confusion to a minimum.

Oldrogue:  Thank-you!  And I know it's all in fun... that's why I feel the need to poke back... I don't want to feel left out after all!  $%Grinno$%

Jose:  I had a look at your thread yesterday.  You've come a long ways... I really like what you have going at the moment.  Good luck with the school stuff!

Nothing to show today.  I think I finished up the lighting last night.  It was such a pain because for every minute I spend actually doing something, I had to spend about 20 minutes waiting for the preview to make sure I did it right!  So... this weekend I'll be doing some gardening around this building and there will be some pictures then.

To update a couple other things, the "SmalltownUSA - Collector's Edition" will probably hit the LEX this weekend.  I'm hoping to get the School Packs up there before leaving for Easter next week also, but we'll see.  The Taft Building will also be along in the next couple weeks.  Once all that is done, I'll be back to four things:  Lockwood Arms (the SHUR apartment building), the brownstone set, Westlake Academy, and the School Add On Pack.

Until next time...

Just a small update for the moment.  I started gardening this afternoon and got three ivy "plants" finished.  There could be as many as 10-12 plants before it's all done, but I wanted to get a preview shot before I got too far just to make sure they looked alright.  So, I figured since I waited around to look at the previews, I might as well share them while I'm at it:

I haven't redone the brick textures yet, so these aren't "attached" to the wall at this point.  I'm still debating what to do on the front side.  Some of me things ivy on the entrance towers would look really cool... other parts think it would take away from what's already there.  So... we'll see.

Wow. the Ivy looks great. this building sort of reminds me of some Brown University buildings in Providence, RI (I used to live right accross the street).  I know you're doing a boarding school, not a University, but either way, this is FAN-TASTIC. keep it up.

Irfox:  Thanks!  That's actually the second or third university this has been compared to.  I think that's because the campus they shot the movie on (which is what started this whole idea) was actually a college in Virginia.

Marc:  Yes, SimFox steered me in the right direction... although he hasn't been back to accept my thanks yet.  Thank-you!

Bluebeard:  Thanks!   :satisfied:

Sim Shady:  Thank-you!

Another small update today (for now... maybe more later) on the campus this time.  Following the suggestions to change the paths and also fit in with the parks, I tweaked a couple things.  I also got the athletic building exported and on the lot.  So is this what people had in mind?

That's all for now.  SmalltownUSA - Collector's Edition might be on the LEX before the day is over.  The school packs are going through one final test with Macintosh computers... so next week is still looking possible for those.

Looks amazing!  Really really amazing  ;D  However, i don't mean to be imposing or anything, but how do people make those road textures transit enabled to connect to a street like the ones at the top of your picture?  I think that it really looks good when people do that, but not a lot of people do.  Hmm, i bet it sounds like im spouting giberish... :D

Ohh yeah.....superb and/or very nice...

Wouldn't be me tho' without a quibble..... the statue in the quadrangle(?) I would assume it is the founder of the skule and if so shouldn't he be facing the main building rather than the sports dept...... or did they make the final four?

As far as ivy up the towers goes, it would look good, but you would likely lose the visuals of the windows. The school looks much better with the new path textures and, as far as the statue goes, it seems its orientation would be fine if the academic building were behind it. That way, when walking up to the building, the students (or anyone coming from the rec center) will see it facing them. Excellent as always.

JBSimio

Sim Shady:  Thanks!  I don't know how it's done, but I intend to find out when I get that far!   ;)

Derek:  Thanks... but it's still not a university   $%Grinno$%

Oldrogue:  Thank-you!  The statue isn't permanent yet either.  Actually, about the only things that are "finished" on this lot right now are the paths and building placement... and even some of that is still up for grabs!

Threestooges:  Thanks as always for your insight.  (I was starting to get worried... where have you been?)  I'm going to start doing the front ivy this afternoon (the back is finished) so we'll see what happens when I get there.

I just wanted to stop in and say that "Smalltown USA - Collector's Edition" is officially on the LEX!  Much like the SHUR Project update, this is an upgrade to every Smalltown lot I've done so far.  I believe that means 18 buildings in all!  They are all included in BTE reward chains now and also form a basis for some upcoming rewards that will be specifically for the series.  You will need my BSC Mega Pack for this download.  Any other dependancies can be found in the readmes.  Enjoy!

No ways, I'm not just going to grab 'em and go! I want to thank you for your hard work and the effort put into this! It is really appreciated and it saddens me that I cannot in anyway repay you for it!  &mmm

Good luck with your endeavours! And I'm supporting you all the way. *looks for pom-poms* :P

By the way, the campus is looking stunning! ;)

I've been a bit busy: applying for law school, exams, I'm an RA (resident advisor) which means it's my job to be on call in 2 of the residences hall (they are apartments on campus) and lucky me, I was on duty during St. Patrick's Day) but I've still been coming by to see what's new (usually I'm in a bit of a rush so I don't comment). I'll be sure to pick up the Collector's Edition. I think there are still 1-2 that I haven't dl'ed yet. I'll be back to see what you have next (and I'll make sure to speak up more often).
