Irfox:  Thanks!  Reading over my original post, I see I didn't explain that very well, did I?  Oops!  Yes, I am planning for this to fit into a diagonal corner.  That's actually why I'm not really sure if the dimensions are right or not.  From what I do understand about it so far, the measurements have to be pretty specific to make it fit properly.

Robin:  Thank-you also!  I understand your diagram and I could look into a version like that as well.  I'm not sure the angles would match, though.  (Warning:  Geometry discussion ahead!)  Splitting an avenue in SC4 would still give you two 45 degree angles (in the version you "drew")... which is essentially a 90 degree corner like any other, only rotated.  While I could easily rotate the building to fit that space, the walls would still form a 45 and not a 90 degree corner.  So the two roads would spread out "faster" than the sides of the building... if that makes any sense.  Of course if you split your avenue like this, the angle would be perfect:

Right, I see what you mean.  Still......I do wish there was more high quality diagonal lots.  Both ways, the way I suggested and the way you are talking about.  I hope to see what you can do, and if it doesn't work, that's okay too.  I'll just have to wait patiently for more of these style lots.
Again, great bat.

Thanks

Must say that I like the "peek" at the new building...... I have always loved the "Castiron" building because of its uniquness comparred to the surrounding.... this one looks like it will fill that slot very nicely

Hmmm, and I thought it was fun watching the construction of the Skulle ;D

I have to go and have a quiet nap now, I disregarded your warning and read the geo metry portion of your post......my head hurts..that's because it's plane that it's at an odd angle...right :)

Sorry...it's been a long day

Robin:  Don't get me wrong... I'm all for the idea (and will probably render it for both versions).  I'm just saying the angles won't line up which means the walls wouldn't quite follow along with the road.  To many, that might be a very small detail.  It will work either way... just a matter of how particular you are about such things.

Vicki:  Thanks!  I also appreciate your "consideration"... let me know what you decide!   :D

Oldrogue:  Thank-you!  Sorry to have confused you again... I've really got to stop doing that to people!

Jose:  Wow... thanks!  I didn't think it was quite that good, but I'm not going to argue with you either!  ;)

I think I got the size sorted out.  I also tested the overhanging idea (since I've never done it... just wanted to make sure I had it sorted out).  With that out of the way... it's full steam ahead for this one.  The size was off by a bit, so there were some definite changes to make.  Here's the latest with everything all sorted out again:

I should mention that the side you see in this picture is not the side from the first picture!  First picture was West and South sides... this is West and North.  Sorry if that means another nap for anyone!   :D

It looks like a chicago building I saw once, I don't remember its name but it looks just like this building minus the tower.

You are truly a Master of Design.Your lots have given my cities the kick in the pants they needed.Thanx for the updates and I'm so looking foward to downloading your next lot.Thanx &apls :)

Jose:  Thanks!  I have a feeling that this style isn't that uncommon... so there's probably some version of it in Chicago, New York, Detroit.  Glad you like it!

Pat:  Thank-you!  There really isn't that much difference between the first and second versions, but I'm glad to hear that the changes I did make were the right ones!

Bluebeard:  Thanks!  Kicking cities is what I do... (or something like that)

Just a real quick update today.  I'll be leaving town shortly, so this will have to be brief for now.  I got the building "closed up" and started adding some of the extras.  I'm not real happy with the fire escapes yet... they're in the right place, but I don't like the texture and I'm really not sure about the style yet either.  The roof texture will also probably change.  Basically... it's still pretty rough and a lot could still change, but this was as late as I could stay up last night!

Talk to you later!

Comming along very nicely.....I agree about the fire escapes....right church-wrong pew...sort of thing.......also love the contrast of the wooden front facade being that shade of green against the brickwork.....

Very nice.... a building with a suprising shape. It must be very disorienting with al those corners: you can never tell what is the front and the back of the building  ;)

im drooling over the thought of this being a diagonal building  ;D Its looking good so far.  The only thing i might change is the depth of the roof/ hieght of the rim around the top of the building.

threestooges

If you ever wondered about your skill at this, wonder no more. Your work continues to amaze me (and many others it seems). Your new building looks like it will prove to be quite a landmark building. There are buildings out there with nice architectural features, but very few that I have found which use diagonals quite so well (and varied). This should be interesting to see lotted.

JBSimio

Metasmurf:  Thanks!  I've always liked the shape of this building too... I guess that's why I decided to give it a try!   ;)

Robin:  Thank-you!

Antoine:  Thanks to you as well!

Oldrogue:  Thanks!  Yes... the fire escapes will definitely change.

Sebes:  Thanks!  All the corners do make it a bit confusing.  Naming my pieces is turning out to be the worst.  Things like "North Facade and South Facade" don't really work so well!

Badsim:  Thank-you!

Jeronij:  Thanks so much!  To be honest, I'm not sure my "method" for the ivy is really the best in the world.  I'll see what I can come up with and send you a preview.  I'll let you judge if it's worth posting or not!   :D

Sim Shady:  Thanks!  Looking at the tower, I think the roof decorations are a little too high.  I'll fix that, too.

Threestooges:  Thank-you!

I've got to be honest.  The response to Rau's has really surprised me.  I like how it's turning out, but I guess I didn't consider it to be anything that spectacular.  I'm glad you all like it so much.  I'm in Saginaw for the weekend, so there won't be any updates for a few days.  In the meantime, there are a couple similar corner buildings around here that I hope to have a look at.  I wish the Feige Building still stood, but it's been gone since 1994... and I've only found one picture of it so far.  Judging from that picture, it's nothing close to an accurate rendition anyway!  I think I'm done with the main building at this point.  Next time I'll move on to the details... roof junk, shop dressing, all that good stuff.  Until then, have a happy Easter if you celebrate it!
