Love the history of the castle, not quite what you think looking at it.
Your Lovers Corner is a great image, a very well made piece of nature ;D.

danielcote

I loved Grafenaubach, The town was just set up so perfectly! Also that single track station is that a custom lot?

Earth quake

Great job with that lock and dam. That's extremely well done my friend. I also took a particular liking to the Nazi castle. Very cool.

Take care.

Bernhard, hi.  The SC4D "Friends of the MD Committee," which selects the "Of Special Interest" MDs each month made a boo-boo in June, when Urland was last OSITM.

Urland was given a ribbon- it should have been given this, as your MD is among the select few (rooker1's Mindscape, paroch's West End, and just this month emilin's Blackwater (with Islas Gemas)) that have been recognized as OSITM three times.

We've updated the selection post, and appreciate your understanding.  We'll all be watching for what happens next in this great MD.

Hell to All!

It has been a while since the last udate which was also my last OSITM update in June. It's not that I haven't done anything in SC4 - it's just the opposite but I worked on some bigger and urban maps playing with all those new goodies in the last NAMs. Not much has reached a "finished" status (does something like that that exists at all?) so I'm going to show a potpourri of my last months work. Not a real update, I know, but more than a mini update or a construction site report...

Anyway before start Replies and Answers - as usual! :)

TheTeaCat Welcome back Derry! Still sorry about your father but so glad you're back!  :)
Gald you like it. And about 6.07, well, how many cuppa make a day? To do that little area I extracted the maxis fields, created diagonal and FAR compatible overlay textures, modified and combined some RRP lots before starting the final works ... but I'd say it was worth it!  :satisfied:

tooheys Hi Dave!
Well, OSITM is always special, even though this was a very special one - see (the other) David's Post! A little drawback was that alomost all presentable material was gone after the last update but hey, there are a lots of free spaces on the map ... ;)

threestooges Hi Matt!
As I explained to Derry especially that area was also a lot of work outside SC4 untill I got what I wanted to have. Glad you like!
The little flagstop is a kitbashing of mine. I plan to release it with others through the SFBT as soon as I get one or two special props for it that are on theri way to me ... but shhh - that's secret!    ;)

Battlecat Thanks for the compliment my friend! :)

kwakelaar Hi Gjermund!
Well, the castle's location isn't the most logical one so I needed a backrground that fit. (Un)fortunately the not-so-long-ago Germany history has some more of these kind of stories ...  %wrd
Yes, lover's corner - Was lange währt, wird endlich gut (Good things come to those who wait.) Took me a while until I knew what I wanted to do there. Did I ever told you that I'm a not very fast SC4 player?  :D

danielcote Thanks for the compliment! As I explained to Matt before the little station is some kitbashing of me that should find its way eventually into the community (when it's done).  ;)

Earth quake Thanks for the compliment! :)

calibanX Thanks for the compliments! And the Nazi castle - it's not only RL but also and especially RL's history that can be used as a main inspiration! :)

Tomas Neto Thanks for the compliment! :)

Sciurus Thanks for the compliment! :)

dedgren Hi Dave!
Apologize accepted and boo-boo forgotten. ;)
You know, some years ago I looked through that month's OSITM MDs, sighed and thought, well, must be nice to be OSITM but most probably that's never going to happen ...   /wrrd%& Not much later become OSITM for the very first time :D
And untill being OSITM is still some special, precious and exciting even though - or because Urland is under the few that made it three times ...
Let's see If I can do it a fourth time. Bets are still open and besides, there are some great things in life you never get enough from! ;)

Okay, as I explained before no really update but way more than a construction report? So why not call this:

PROOF OF LIFE!

Let's start by updating the region map. As you can see there had been a little bit of action lately ... The big map between Leimersheim and Flughafen shall eventually become the capital of the area. But since my concept isn't completed I built around it ...

Let's start with Flughafen (airport). The regional airport is placed at the corner of three maps. I haven't made up my mind if I am going to use custom airport lots or not; untill then the ingame international airports works as a placeholder there.

First time ever that I used the HSR and years since I used monorail. I do like it even though there is a lack of stations and puzzlepieces as you can see.

I needed some time to fill that crotch between the two highways and their connection. But now I like that small area! ;)

Not more presentable here - still months of detailing to do here.

So let's go further to the sole used big map at the moment - Bernhardsruhe - Neustadt. I began it as I couldn't satisfy the I-D / I-M demand on the neighbour maps on the left of it then I got lost there ny playing with all those goodies - especially GLR - from the last NAMs ...

Bernhardsruhe is a mix between my university town Karlsruhe and my prename, Neustadt in this case means "new part of town" stressing that its developement began in the 19th century during indsutrialisation and is by no means an "old" town.

Speaking of long time ElRail over Road is also seldom used by me. But I loved how this industrial area turned out. I showed another angle form here earlier in the "Show Us Your Railway" - thread.

As I explained before the first purpose of Neustadt was to provide tons of I-D and I-M jos. It still does even though a quite lot of I-HT had been added recently. The overall industrial workforce of Neustadt is appr. 110K.

Suburbia.

That's a style of W2W I started years ago with Erdmoebels old 2*1 Berlin style W2W - must have been end of 2004 or beginning of 2005. And the more small W2Ws hit my plugin folder the better it looks IMHO. Sometimes when they cluster together I leave it (like the two corner buildings), mostly I redo the zoning.

A kind of try to make an utopian worker seddlements like they were built in the Twenties. Did I ever mention that I am a big Bauhaus fan?
A centered park surrounded by huge Blocks connected to GLR-in-Ave and GLR-in-Road. The GLR usage in Neustadt is enormous ... ;)

And with all these great Paris and Polish W2Ws I just had to plop a Paris style quarter - of course with lots GLR ;)

I love that view. (not so much my Co and Cs demand, they still are deep red ....  &Thk/( )

This Avenue is the border between grown highrises and plopped W2Ws. I like it.
SG 's Richardson's Department store has become kind of a menace - it literally grows anywhere!

Another quarter, completely Grown. I never saw Mary Hotel growing like this before. There are 11 pieces seen on that picture and some more in the area around ...  :-[

I discovered lately that the ped malls under the elavated Railway together with Khiyana's parking lots, bripizza's elevated station  and marrast's old lots are the perfect combination for some really nice urban areas!

My inspirations to these layouts came from pictures of (both East and West) Berlin in the late seventies and early eighties with the last services of steam engines of the Deutsche Reichsbahn.

I never was more satisfied with the layout of an elevated railway line of any kind. What do you think?

The Legal Theater. Member of my plugin folder but never used - don't ask me way. I placed it in some side streets by intention - be it inspired by Batman be it because I saw theaters like this 24 years in West Berlin ...

With the last picture we move on from Neustadt to Kreuzlingen. Remember the lock and the power plant? That's on this map, too, but I'll sjhow you some other imprrom Kreuzlingen.

suburbia. Unlike flat Neustadt Kreuzlingenhas some hills - I'll guess I'll stick to the hilly terrain in the future, just is way more interesting to play with IMHO.

City Park. Don't know why I didn't play with the BSC parks earlier ...

Not much to say here. :)

The ramp which is used by the road and the tramway to climb up to the upper level of the kanalized river. BTW: If you want to see the lock and the power plant just look behind you ... ;)  :D

Now let's move on to a small rural map - Hochrot.

Not much to see around here - some houses, some fields - and a water power plant - the old one from *cough*cough*.

But at least some nice places for some nice rural corners ... ;)

With this last shot of Hochrot I'll close this "Proof Of Life" - Hope you liked it!

Have fun and take care!

Bernhard

Ya, know...In all the time I've been here , I never actually noticed you had an MD? Man , I feel dense! This update looks great! And here I thought you spent all your time coming up with crazy bans! ;D Seriously , I like what you've done! Its been a while since I actually have played , but seeing the under rail stuff is making me itch to play instead of playing with mods!

Jayson

Just looked at some more...I feel really dense now! Awesome work Bernhard ...maybe I need to look a little closer at sigs!

danielcote

nice I like how lush you're rural arias are. by the way where did you get those chicago styled w2w's on each side of that SG hotel in the second picture?

Ooooops

Sorry to intervene but I inserted the wrong link to picture 7.20. It is corrected by now - sorry for the inconvenience!

Bernhard

Edit: Install of Double-posting I am going to post my answers here.

@Jayson: Well, you don't get a CML for making only crazy bans I guess  :D
And yes, I'm in CJ/MDing for quite some time, Urland's begining was in June 2005 long before SC4D started. I guess it is one of the oldest still running MDs at all (with some hiatusses due to technical problems, though).
Glad you like it. But you do know for sure that I had to ban you for this, don't you?  ()stsfd()

@danielcote: Glad you like it! These w2w are definately SimGoober BATs, Butcher shop I guess, but I must confess I don't know in which of SG's megapacks you'll find them ... sorry ...

Battlecat

Spectacular urban area!  It all looks fantastic through and through!  I'm a particular fan of those industrial shots though!  Looking forward to seeing more as always!

io_bg

Wow that's a really big update! And really good as well! I hope you've got more pictures from this city to show. ;)

Q-Tips

I have always been a fan of your MD. I think i still have a saved pic of an old region pic of yours. And your new region looks to become even better than your old one.
Of all your great pictures, theres one small detail i in particular love ; The curvy farm roads on pic 7.20 realy looks good. Its not always easy to make curvy roads look realistic, but i think this is an example on how to make it excellent.

tooheys

Bernhard, whats going on. There is only one pic with (real) rail  ;) And I must say, although not all that network in 7.03 is shown, I've learnt a bit anyway. Very nice my friend.

Regardless, you also show your transport skills with your elevated and ground systems. And they wind there way thru some very impressive neighbourhoods. Great work mate.

Dave

WC_EEND

hehe, I love your use of the Parisian BATs, I use them alot as well in my MD's (under construction) main city. I've visited your MD a few times beforehand and was always amazed by your realistic usage of transportation networks (rail in specific).

PS: I just want to ask you, where did you get those elevated (heavy) rail stations? I wanted to have stations like that for quite some time.
RIP Adrian (adroman), you were a great friend

Some Quick Replies:

@Tomas Neto: Thanks for the compliment! :)

@Battlecat: Thanks for the compliment! Yes, I must confess, (Dirty) industry is what I like, too!  :)

@io_bg: Thanks for the compliment! Actually all shown cities are under construction, so chances are that I'll show more of them! ;)

@Steamrobin: Well, regarding master and apprentices - ask Dave (tooheys) whose MD is well established in the classics while Urland still is in Best Sellers Section - for ages. He once also said master to me :D
Inspire and get inspired - that's why I am here! ;)

@Q-Tips Thanks for the compliment! Well, that is one of the spots I sometimes need hours sometimes minutes to get it like I want it to be . Glad you liked it! ;)

@tooheys Dave, you know I had been away some months and really, really needed to play with all those new toys of the NAM ...  ;) The industrial area of 7.03 is rather good penetrated with GLR, ElRail and STR (mainly for freight transport). That spot was one of those rare moments when the game chooses the "right" growables as it was the first time ever I saw the sugar factory growing!
Anyway recent developements went into rural hills (back to the roots so to say ;) but there's plenty of urban developement to do (and show) left ...

@WC_EEND
WC_EEND is banned for ... Na - wrong thread my fellow MetEENDo69 member ...  :D
Glad you like it. But be careful if you - like me - aren't doing eyecandy. Such a plopped quarter can ruin your Co/CS demand for quite some years ingame ...
The elevated station(s) are from bripizza. Just check the Japanese BAT thread for the link to his site. You know, these Japanese links tend to change rather often ...

WC_EEND

#379
Well, I mostly do eyecandy actually (because it's easier/faster) so my CO/CS demand is in deep red.
Thanks for the links, I found some other interesing stuff there as well.
Almost forgot, I've put our banning entity in my sig :D

EDIT: we've got a banning loop here :D
