I recently did a quarter section of the island and I couldn't load the terragen file because it was way too big.  So it looks like I'm going to have to double the number of sections to 8 maps instead of 4 and see how that goes. :)

The latest Cape York Peninsula maps have been released to the LEX, Somewhere On Cape York Peninsula South [or SOCYPS for short], and are the first four of the eleven remaining Cape York series.  Normally, this region wouldn't have snow-capped peaks, but I was unable to modify this terrain mod to get rid of the annoying snow &mmm

SOCYPS #1

SOCYPS #2

SOCYPS #3

SOCYPS #4

Thanks for dropping by and do drop in again soon.

If it helps, perhaps clean up the map a little and get rid of any random lakes that shouldn't be there. Though, it may be difficult to do that, as Cape York doesn't have much in the way of interesting landmarks.

If you are referring to the four maps in my previous post above, kinda too late for for those as they're already available on the LEX :)  But, like you said, not a lot of interesting landmarks, but Cape York does offer some varied landscapes, whether it flat with winding rivers or hilly terrains and interesting coastlines.

As requested by alan_vzla, Barcelona Venezuela is now available on the LEX.

Monorail Master - With the Campbell County map, I ran into some snag with it &mmm and will be asking another mapper to help me out with that snag, so it may be awhile yet before it's completed.

elyk11 - Still working on your requests

I love the SOCYPS series.   Lots of varied terrain to play with.

A while ago you were working on an "Iowa" series, and I asked if you were going to do anymore cities in Iowa.    Have you had time to look at doing any of those again?    (Like say Dubuque)   I know you are crazy busy cause everyday it seems like you are putting out 3 or 4 new maps.

Just figured I might ask.    I know you get a tonne of requests everyday and that has to be annoying as heck.

Keep up the fantastic work.    I love everything you've put out.

I read through most of this, it seems you have an absolute tonne of requests... But, since you're mapping Australia, could you make a map of the Mackay region on the Central Queensland coast?

It'd be great to have, recreating a home town is always alot of fun...

Many thanks,
Adrian

P.S. The Cape York maps have been great!
737s, Air Force, Australia... what next?

I've given Dubuque Iowa 3 different attempts and I keep running into elevation issues and I haven't been able to wrap a solution around it yet. &mmm

I believe there is a new member to the SC4 community who is mapping Australia at this time  and for the foreseeable future I'm on other projects [South Africa, Philippines, and possibly Canada/Mexico that will keep me busy for well into 2010. :)

Speaking of South Africa, here are three areas of about 8 or 9 maps around the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa region.  These maps and others of South Africa were requested by M4346 which will include Johannesburg in the first series of S. African maps.

Cape of Good Hope:

Gordon's Bay:

Saldanha-Langebaan:

The three maps pictured above will be coming to a LEX near you soon.  Stay tuned for more S. Africa Maps Pictorials in the next few weeks.

Oooh, there's gonna be a cape town as well! BTW, If you did Cape Town, it would actually only be the northern suburbs...quite a lot of CT is in the Cape Of good hope map! If you do do that, then please include Table Mountain as well! It looks so wierd to just see some of the southern slope.

Quick Fact:  sometimes we actaully light up table mountain! Not all of it, but quite a bit if you stay in the southern suburbs!

blade2k5

It has been a couple of weeks since I've posted here in my own mapping thread, but I hope the wait was worth it with the three maps of areas of South Africa I'm showcasing today.  Two coastal and one inland regions make up the selection this time around and will be made available for download on the LEX within the week.

Capetown  Size: 28km x 26km

Hermanus - Gans Baai Region  Size: 24km x 28km

Johannesburg  Size: 48km x 44km  This one is accurate for for size and elevation, there will be a version two with a lowered elevation coming soon.

Coming sometime around Christmas/New Years are three regions from Morocco.

I apologise for having been absolutely horrible at keeping up with developments here, but I just returned (yesterday) from a 10 day roadtrip from Johannesburg / Pretoria to Cape Town and back via Port Elizabeth.

The maps look absolutely great and I love the detail on the Cape of Good Hope map! It's also great to see two other favourites of mine, Saldanha and Gordon's Bay! They look really great!

It's also worthy to note that Gordon's Bay, Strand and Somerset West are also part of the City of Cape Town (which, as was noted above, includes the entire peninsula and stretches north as far as Atlantis). It's really huge!

I wanted to ask though whether it is at all possible to accurately combine the southern and northern ends of the Peninsula? I'll do this myself it need be but just want to know if it is technically possible?

It'll be an awfully huge map, I tried that first and it was so big, it locked up terraformer and I couldn't work on it.  So I had to splitting it up into two maps, but they don't line up properly $%Grinno$%

The Jo'burg map looks fantastic! Thank you! Don't let M4346 or me confuse you - what he's referring to is actually the Greater Metropolitan area of Cape Town; which is huge and holds approx 7-8 million people, however what most people would consider Cape Town itself is like a 20x20km square, with Table mountain near the top left of the map, with a little bit of sea for the water front. If you were to produce a map like that, it would be Cape Town central, with a few outlying suburbs there. Great work on all the other maps!   &apls

The City of Cape Town (Afrikaans: Stad Kaapstad; Xhosa: Isixeko saseKapa) is the metropolitan municipality which governs the city of Cape Town, South Africa and its suburbs and exurbs. As of 2001, its population was 2,893,246.
