A very impressive update and re-creation!  &apls

Those ships are wonderful, as is the detail you put into the formations and the town of Hira.  This is an incredible project you've undertaken, and I'm very much enjoying it.

io_bg

Wow, that's stunning! All the custom bats are awesome! &apls

I lovve the way You've done the boats. They are very detailed and fit very good in the scenery. The battle ist - of course - tragic, but the lotting is awesome! I'm curios to see the roman city rising

Nothing wrong with the battle scenes when you do them this well!  I'm looking forward to seeing what you've got planned for the reconstruction!

Great start so far!  I will be looking forward to further updates with excitement. As a history buff my self, I love this idea of viewing a region as it changes over two millennia. There's just so many things throughout the course of 2000 years that will very interesting to see how it plays out in your region. I also really like all the lots/modding you have done to make it feel authentic. Keep it up!
Cheers,

Fellow Norwegian eh? Well actually I'm Norwegian by ethnicity not nationality and then only partly so.  :-[

And perhaps a bit of Total War thrown in as well  :) Now if you could only add a bit of Oblivion and I'll be extra happy  :D

Love the approach to this MD kwakelaar, continues to be very original indeed  Great work and looking forward to see where you take this (and us).

Kimcar – The boat I found on a Russian site, I really only rendered it in gmax. I hope to be able to make something better if time permits.

Bat – thanks and welcome to Andau

Sumwonyuno – I think Hira could do with a some change, thanks for commenting.

Djvandrake – great, I am glad you enjoyed this update. Actually burning down the town and taking some snapshots at the same time was not as easy as I first had thought.

Io_bg – thanks, it has taken quite some time to get everything this far. Now only some 2000 years of batting to go. :D

Knapp – the boats are quite detailed but in close zoom, unfortunately they don't look that great. Hira will take some more time to plan and build, first up is now Estuarium. Not a true Roman city but a little less barbarian than the first villages we have seen.

Battlecat – thanks a lot, I am not really a warmonger, but no history without war, or so it seems.

Tomas Neto – wow, what a compliment, thanks a lot for stopping by.

Mightygoose – thanks and welcome to Andau, or Andica as it is called during this period.

JanYpe – thanks for commenting and welcome to my slowly developing MD.

Kabuto23 – Great to see you here, and hopefully you will be able to go with the flow of development although not always historical accurate. But I will do my best to follow the main events as they happened in this part of Europe.
I was born in Norway, but after living In the Netherlands for the last 17 years I think am becoming almost more Dutch than Norwegian.

Kelis – thanks for your comment

Schulmanator – thanks for stopping by, and I hope you will enjoy the next update.

Dave – thanks for commenting and I will see if I can satisfy all your needs in later updates. ;D

Update 8 The Tungeri Capitol – Estuarium
While the battle around Hira has just finished we will take a look at how the Tungeri are doing after joining the Roman Empire
As federati the Tungeri are allowed to make use of the old marching camp at Estuarium. The troops dismantel the walls and ditches before they leave. The Tungeri are allies, but the bond is too new for the Romans to take any chances and leave behind an intact fortress which easily can be used against them.
The Principia and the parade ground is now the Forum at Estuarium and the streets follow the pattern that the Romans laid down for their camp.

The camp and the surrounding area after the Romans have left.

10 years later and Estuarium has been growing, there is still a lot of space within the old fortress.

The Principia is now the Forum and the enclosed space is used as a market.

The town well just behind the Principia

The new harbour has become quite a busy place.

Wealthy Tungeri are still building in the traditional way.

Nice update!  Neat to see how the roman road layout impacted growth in the area!  This update is visually very impressive, the docks and all the custom work looks great!

I haven't really been following this MD much but i've had a quick look over the last few updates and i'm very impressed.

Very original and unique MD. Looking at some of these pictures it's hard to believe it's even simcity anymore. Great work  &apls

Hey Gjermund

I like the scene with the well. The villager's homes have small garden plots. I saw some sheep and cows too. All the villagers have slacks and white shirts when going to the market ... that gave me a good chuckle.  :D

You'll have to create a scene where some local villagers are fishing and/or hunting for deer or llamas. Perhaps some sort of trap where the men beat the bushes to heard or chase wildlife into some sort of pen or corral.

I enjoy the diary every time I stop by.

Best Regards - Jim

This is excellent Gjermund. I love the scale of your massed Roman forces. I have to say that when I saw the police car parked outside the market I immediately thought of the end of Monty Python's Holy Grail when the police show up and arrest all involved

I love it Gjermund!
