Excellent tutorial, Derry! Your method definitely creates an interesting textural quality, and it doesn't appear to be a very difficult process. So glad you shared it with us. Hope you'll be sharing development on the island soon, too! :)

And congratulations on a stellar performance in OSITM...

Hey Derry,
You really decided to go out with a big bang.  Fantastic tutorial and super pictures.  I really love to see the process of how others get to the final result and yours is definately special.  Great work!

Robin

Well that's an idea I don't think I would have considered!  That's an amazing job you've done on detailing the waterway, and I appreciate the tutorial.    I don't suppose you have a link to this mod, sounds like something that will be very useful!

It's always great to come to this MD and see what you have done in your recent updates, even though I'm a rather new face in this MD..
That's a fantastic tutorial on detailing the water
You have really used your time well in those 7 days

I'm definitively looking forward to more,
Fabian :)

JBSimio

Excellent trick, Derry!   &apls  I'm not sure if it's something I'll ever use or not... but if I do, I now know exactly where to look.  The level of detail you put into each section of your game always impresses me and this was just another fine example of that.  It was a great week, my friend... I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!

An assortment of fine tea should be arriving shortly,
JB

Even though the week has come and gone, I want to give you a belated congratulations for your time in OSITM, Derry.   &apls

With that said, it's easy to see why you earned OSITM.  This is some of the best Mayor Mode flora use I've seen.  Setting the sea level is very resourceful, and it gives me some ideas.  :)  Keep up the good work!

Now that's a neat little trick you have there Derry. Nicely explained and illustrated.  I'm going to have to give that a go.

A great week there Derry and you've certainly kicked the 4 in 1 off in grand style. ;D

Well done mate  :)

Well its time for an update :D and I finally finished off Shenstone Island.
I do apologise for the delay but we got there in the end.
Well to be honest I forgot what I had planned for the island, I'm sure it was something good but still
I'm happy with the results of this morning's work.

I also realise that there are loads and loads of comments and questions to be answered and I promise to get round to them all, may take a few more days, but I'll get there;)

In the meantime here are the pics of the finished tile:D

Click on me for full size :D

That's all for now - hope you like :)
Ah that's the sound of the kettle boiling - must dash :D :D

I'll be back soon with the replies

I really like Shenstone's finishsed form.

I think that the balance of nature and the small town eminence really worked in this tile and the shots of all the flora in the river is really excellent! Great job, Derry.

Ethan

Shenestone is looking really beautiful! Awesome work there in it!
Looking forward to more from your fantastic work, Derry.

Jmouse

Let's see now. The last update was a tutorial illustrating your method of detailing riverbeds. It ended with an overall view of the nearly-finished Shenstone quad, and right smack in the middle of it was an island - attractive but undeveloped.

In a way, I'm glad to see Shenstone Island finished. Everything about it looks great - the forestation and ground cover, the little village, the castle/church/monastery. Not sure exactly what that structure is, but you did a fine job of placing it and fitting it into the chosen surroundings.

But I'm sorry it's finished, too! Shenstone has been a favorite place to visit ever since I first saw it, and I've thoroughly enjoyed watching it develop. Now that it's completed, though, we won't be stopping by there anymore.

Of course, there's always my "Favorite screen grabs" folder. That's where I stash the best of the best pix so I can go back for another look whenever I please.  :)

Outstanding work on this one, Derry...

I love the castle and the underwater details offshore.  The trees and terrain look great.

Welcome back!  Great looking set of shots as always, I like that coastal wetland area!  Looking forward to more as always!

derry- nice to see another update. nice job on the shoreline and underwater details

Nardo69

These shorelines are just great (and they are one of my very weak points ...). That church - I think it sleeps somewhere in my plugins but I never used it so for - good choice here. Might be a tad more dense, though.

I do have a small problem with the castle - logical would be the water trench outside in front of the wall if it ever served as a defense. If not it can be considered as a romantic add to the garden.

Take care my friend (and may the messenger love you some day ...)!  ::)  :D)

Now folks as for the castle on the island - well its not a castle , more of a stately home you might say.
And as for the "moat" , its not that either.

You see I forgot to tell you that the owner has some very odd ground dwelling pets who dislike water.

They really don't like the stuff and will not even cross over the stuff using a bridge.

That's why he lives on an island.

And no, you really don't want to see them.

trust me on this one, you......really........    really....do....not...... want.......to
