The State of Nesara: Update Twenty-One

Population: 13,921

Cedar Population Eclipses 10,000; Nesara Passes 15,000 Residents

The official census has just been released and Cedar's population has been listed as 13,921, which is more than what was estimated to be the town's population at this point. The estimates, which were taken about a year ago, had Cedar's population hovering around 10,000, but the high growth of the industrial and manufacturing sectors has spurned a much higher growth rate in the town than expected. Additionally, for the first time ever, more than 1,000 people have been recorded as citizens of Nesara but not living in Cedar or its vicinity. The majority of these recorded residents own plots and/or houses along Pacific Road, with some also having constructed some homes on Country Road, especially near the Ravine River Bridge.
Given that the growth rate, which shot up the past couple of years, is showing no signs of slowing down, estimates have Cedar pushing past 20,000 residents soon, given all the construction still taking place. The Nesara Council, headed by James Brooks, announced it was re-studying its urban planning for the next 10 years in light of these new facts, and will be doing the needful to keep the quality of life in Cedar and Nesara up to high standards.

Cedar To Get New Power Plant

Just a few days after the release of the latest population census, the Nesara Council announced its intention to build a new gas power plant about a mile north of Cedar. Intersection Street will be extended all the way up to the new power plant, and the current power plant will be dismantled and sold part by part.

"In order to support Nesara's growing power needs, we will begin work on the new power plant in the next couple of months," stated James Brooks. "While the current plant can and will meet Nesara's short term needs, it is inevitable that we will need to start developing a larger source of power as time goes by. We have decided to act now, so that we may be able to facilitate our expected future growth without any issues."

Although no official cost for the development has been stated, experts are estimated that project will cost around $12 million.

Loft Apartments Completed - Bought By Council

The tallest building in Cedar, the Loft Apartments building, has been completed and bought out by the Nesara Council as it looks to meet the housing demands of its employees. The project, which was developed by ICON Real Estate, featured a total of 64 apartments and was estimated to have been acquired for $6 million, or just over $93,000 an apartment. The apartments are all the same - 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a living room, dining room, modern kitchen, and small storage room.

The development, which is situated just north of central Cedar alongside the train tracks, will house the Nesara Council's growing employee base, which is now over 250 with an additional 50 new positions slated to open up before the end of the year. Priority for the apartments will be given according to position and needs (such as size of immediate family). The initiative is being done in order to recruit highly skilled workers to Nesara, with benefits such as free housing.

The Nesara Council is currently the largest employer in the area.

Growth in Manufacturing Sector Surges

Factories continue to open in Cedar at a staggering rate, almost single-handedly spurning the growth of the city's population. In the past year, 4 new companies have opened their doors for business in northern Cedar's industrial area, and the Nesara Council is currently developing the largest project of them all - the new Nesara Power Plant, situated about a mile north of the city on Intersection Street.

"The manufacturing sector is the engine driving the Nesaran economy," stated James Brooks, head of the Nesara Council. "Without it, there wouldn't be the growth and strength we are seeing today. We recognize this, and we are doing all we can to promote our no tax policy to prospective businesses. We won't be sitting still, either. We continue to study and examine ways we can further help businesses in Cedar grow, and entice future businesses to the area."

Nesara Council Constructing New Headquarters

The large construction site situated on Intersection Street at the southern end of Cedar is no longer a mystery - it was confirmed as the Nesara Council's new HQ by James Brooks earlier this week.

"As most of you know, we have completely outgrown our old facility, so we have taken the initiative to develop a state of the art building to house all the council's current departments under one roof. This will ease the traffic on Country Road and central Cedar, and will help us become much more efficient. We do this with Nesara's future in mind," he stated.
Although there is no official estimate on the cost of the development, it has been confirmed that it was contracted to both Davidson Contracting and ICON Real Estate. No word on the estimated time of completion has been given, either.

Wow, amazing update, my friend. The sprawl is looking really great and the night pictures are really amazing. The lofts are one of my favourite pictures, and I also really like the last one.

Looking great Nedal! I look forward to the continued development of Cedar and Nesara! Your census stats got me wondering; are there any other towns in Nesara, besides Cedar?

Looking great man. I'm liking the sprawl going on also. Those apartments are pretty nice.

On a side note, I remember the journal that you had 2 years ago, Qumma.I just now relized you were the one who made it, and It's realy inspired me on my MD and I thank you for that. I loved Qumma, (even though I never commented I always viewed it), and I hope Nesara does not come to the same fate aa it. Your a great sim cityer, (if thats a word :P).

Tomas Neto: Thanks! Im glad you liked it :)
976: Thank you for commenting!
marsh: Thank you for the very flattering words! I enjoyed developing Qumma alot, and as I stated before, the reason it ended was some major RL issues. Nesara will NOT suffer the same fate, I guarantee :)
canyonjumper: In terms of registered settlements and/or cities, Cedar is the only one, but as the census showed, there is just over 1,000 people registered as citizens who have homes in the rural area of Nesara, especially along on the coast on Pacific Road.
ecoba: The Loft Apartments are ICON Real Estate's flagship project thus far, and really has solidified their position in the market. I also liked the way the night shots came out. Thanks for commenting! P.S: I havent forgotten about your house, it just hasnt grown yet :(
RickD: I really enjoy putting the story together, so its great that there is someone who enjoys reading it!
Battlecat: Thank you for commenting :) It will actually be more of a Municipality building than a town hall in the conventional sense - in any case, I hope you like the BAT I have chosen for it.

The update is a couple of days away, but as is customary, I will present you with some before and present shots of Cedar. Enjoy!
