I'm surprised I haven't commented in this MD yet - Terring, This is one of the most unique, interesting MDs I've seen on this site, and I always look forward to new updates from Mars. ;D Nice work.

Also, the smaller martian colonies that you build remind me of the settlements in the videogame Red Faction: Guerilla. ;)

Dantes: Thanks ;D

apeguy: Thank you :) . Except of Eden and it's tons of colonies, the only Martian colony on SC4D is the awesome Phenos by Evillions. Unlike Red Faction, Eden is a peaceful story... for now...

SimRisu: To be honest, the green on Earth hurt my eyers more that the Martian red ;D ;D

Something is better than nothing so here we are, a small collection of pictures from various colonies.  This small community made by Buddhists, with a beautiful statue of Buddha in the centre of the colony.

This is Ismoon, a small colony made by Muslim folks. We can see here there beautiful mosque and the crescent-shape plan of their colony.

Crossvile made by Christians. We can see their temple in the centre as well. All those 3 colonies cooperate each other and doesn't have any problem with their friends' believes. Mars is the planet of rationalism, understanding and solidarity :)

Back to the mayor colonies. Here is Evolution-7, the main capital of transhumanism.

Let's visit Life-6, the most dense populated colony on Mars.

And now a teaser. I'm working on Logic-2 by improving the colony. It will take some time but I'll try to hurry...

Two great new updates with a lot of nice pictures!!! :)

ricardomiranda

Amazing Elias, fantastic job ..Eden is perfect !

Shark7

Looking good.  Have to be honest, missed your last couple of updates, been busy with real life.  Some stuff has to be taken care of like it or not.  &mmm

I have to ask, where did you get the little robot tanks from 'Ghost in the Shell' (yep, I recognize them)?  Those things would be fun to add to my own plugins folder.  :)

All in all, have to say I really like the futuristic look of the SimMars project, and particularly the way you've used it.

Terring7

Now this is what I call "Heavy Update". Upgrading of Logic-2 is ready and now you can enjoy it in 90 pictures! No I'm not kidding. This is my 1,000st post in S.C.4.D. community and I need to make it a bit more interesting. So... how about 90 pictures from planet Mars? ;D ;D

bat: Thank you :)

ricardomiranda: Thanks :)

Shark7: Glad to see that you like it :) . You can get the robots from here.

SimTerrans, SimLunars and SimMartians decide to make flags for their worlds. This is the flag of planet Earth. The flag is inspired by the astrological symbol of Earth, a circle with a cross inside it. The flag has green and blue colours, representing the air, water and land of Earth. There are also 8 red, yellow, green and cyan dots that symbolise the ancient and modern civilizations, from Ancient Greece to United States of America. In generally, this flag symbolise the need of peace and harmony on Earth.

This is the flag of the Moon, grey like the Lunar surface. The above circle has 2 crescents, the traditional symbol of the Moon. It looks a bit like the Sun with those "rays". It's a symbol of the god Apollo, a tribute to the Apollo Program. The black shapes below creates a arrow that represents the future, and 2 hands that represents diplomacy.

And this is the flag of planet Mars. The red dot represents the planet itself, with a replica of the symbol of Earth as a tribute to the first explorers. The green circle represents the terraforming of planet Mars. The blue lines symbolize the technological and spiritual revolution on Mars, while the black background represents the unknown history of the planet.

In the last 20 years, SimMartians made a lot of progress to build the new Eden. Mars is now a caterpillar, slowly transforming into a cosmic butterfly. Martian lifeforms, ruins of ancient alien civilizations, terraforming of Mars, resource-based economy, cybernated government, evolution to Homo Superior... Mars is the paradise of scientists, philosophers, artists and explorers... as well as a very busy planet.

This spacecraft use a nuclear fusion reactor to transport good from Mars to Earth and Moon. Thanks to the nanotechnology, the engines become more powerful and efficient. A typical Mars-Earth voyage in 2064 A.D. (95 A.T.) needs some weeks, not months as some people believed in 2011 A.D. (42 A.T.).

Earth has a space elevator, so satellites are not so important anymore. Mars however can't have a space elevator, so satellites are very useful.

Thanks to the lo gravity of Mars, the red planet has a lot of space stations orbiting around it. Space stations provide the advantages of a gravity-free research environment. They are mostly automated and self-contained, to permit maintenance and self-repair without human intervention. The dangerous space walks are not necessary anymore. These space stations arr able to monitor the Martian resources, as well as facilitate further research in the fields of any kind of science.

Many other experiments are accomplishing in a gravity-free environment, especially in the areas of medicine, chemistry and nanotechnology. In addition, these space stations are serving as nodes in the worldwide telecommunications system of planet Mars, providing up-to-date information on the native Martian ecosystems, the position of all vehicles and other information pertinent to the inhabitants of the cybernated Eden.

Those space stations are vital for the communication of the central quantum computers of the mayor colonies. This creates a huge brain, large as Mars itself.

This is the central quantum computer of Logic-2. Cybernation is the linking of central quantum computers with automated systems. The central cybernated systems is coordinating all of the machinery and equipment that serve the entire colony and the whole planet Mars. One can think of this as an electronic autonomic nervous system extending into all areas of the social complex. For example, in the agricultures the central quantum computers are automatically monitoring and maintaining the water table, soil chemistry, and coordinating the planting and harvesting of crops. In the residential sector, the system is maintaining the environmental cleanliness and the recycling of waste materials.

With this technology, who need politicians?

Speaking about Logic-2... Welcome to Logic-2! This is the second colony established and now it's fully upgraded, back and better.

We can see that, just like Hope-1, Logic-2 has a lot of interesting places to live and visit.

And not inside the colony itself...

Take a Hummingbird, an ornithopter designed for the Martian atmosphere, and let's go for some exploration.

Here we can see the nuclear fusion power plants of the colony.

Sims need water, a lot of clean water.

There are no wastes on Mars. All "garbages" are going to recycle centres and incinerators. This facility turns the "garbages" into new products or burn them to provide heat for the colonists.

Logic-2 holds the larger spaceport on Mars, which contain 4 runways for the spacecrafts and the airplanes.

Logic-2 has a lot of ground and subway railroads. Sims here prefer the trains and the subway than their cars.

Sims need food but Mars is not so friendly with agriculture. With hydroponics, domes and genetic engineering, even a small farm can provide a lot of food for even a larger colony.

Most Sims live in the middle of the colony. Here you can see everything, from underground family homes to huge arcoruses.

Not all Sims however lives here. Some of them are living to the outside of the colony, in small communities or arcologies.

There are 4 parks in the residential zone, with schools and trail paths.

This is the Salvador Dalí Opera House, open for any artist who want to express himself - herself. Musician? Painter? This is your place.

This was the commercial zone of Logic-2, but now become a truly downtown. Here we can see skyscrapers and plazas, as well as apartment buildings.

This is the industrial zone, with a lot of factories and research laboratories. We can also see some shops and apartment buildings for the workers as well.

SimMartians doesn't want to repeat the mistakes of the past, so they have a lot of museums to remember the history of simkind. This museum contain also a holographic university of history and archaeology. Sims need to learn from their failures, in order to not repeat them.

Most SimMartians are atheists. Many other are Christians or Muslims or generally belong in any religion. No matter what however, all Sims will buried in the same cemeteries.

Sims love games and the low gravity of Mars is an excellent opportunity for playing. Higher jumps and running without tiredness are entertaining and very useful for the sports as well. Just imagine the Martian football...

This is the Percival Lowell Observatory. Like Faith-3, Logic-2 has also a tall astronomical observatory.

Unlike Earth, Mars is not suffering with wars. Troops however can be very useful for emergency situations.

The outside of the colony is full of parks and landmarks. Some Sims like to walk into the wilderness of Mars and watch the Martian plants and animals.

Love-4 is ready. I made a lot of work as you can see, so expect a new page with more Love-4 pictures very soon ;)

nbvc: Thanks :)

Dantes: I'm a monster, I know ()flamdev() ()flamdev() . Thank you :)

Shark7: Glad to see that you like it :) . The buildings in the last pictures are The Casopiea Apartments and Star Apartments. Highly recommend, but you may want to relot them...

Page 36: Welcome to Love-4

"A loving heart is the beginning of all knowledge."
Thomas Carlyle

Welcome to 2065 A.D. (96 A.T.)

Love-4 is finally upgraded. This colony had a lot of empty spaces, low density homes and open plazas. Now it has a lot of nice surprises, including a mining operating system and huge arcoruses. But before exploring Love-4, here are some funny pictures. It seems that 100 years after the end of the world, Eden: The New Frontier is still alive.
Huahahahaha!!! ()flamdev() ()flamdev()

Love-4 is south of Logic-2 and east of Faith-3. This colony has the shape of the astrological symbol of Aphrodite, the ancient Greek goddess of love. This colony has 2 parts, the "cross" part and the "circle" part. The "cross" part was mostly a place for the Gens (genetic engineered SimMartians) to live. Thanks to the robotic facilities however, most of them upgrade themselves into Cybs (cybernetic engineered SimMartians) and Bals (both genetic and cybernetic engineered SimMartians). The "circle" part is still a place with a lot of parks and mostly lived by Bals and Cybs.

Despite the nuclear catastrophes in Ukraine, Japan and U.S.A., Mars it's still use nuclear power plants. This is the nuclear operation of Love-4.

The water facility of Love-4 contain water pumps and cleaning devices, in order to provide the colonists with clean fresh water.

And let us not forget the garbage management facility. Nobody wants to live next to garbage, especially if it's possible to recycle them.

SimMartians need materials to build and maintain the colonies. Love-4 has a mining operation system in the Moreux Crater Dunes.

This is Deuteronilus Mensae, a region on Mars that lies just to the north of Arabia Terra and is included in the Ismenius Lacus quadrangle. It is along the dichotomy boundary, that is between the old, heavily cratered southern highlands and the low plains of the northern hemisphere. The region contains flat-topped knobby terrain that may have been formed by glaciers at some time in the past. Deuteronilus Mensae is to the immediate west of Protonilus Mensae and Ismeniae Fossae. Glaciers persist in the region in modern times, with at least one glacier estimated to have formed as recently as 100,000 to 10,000 years ago. Evidence from the radar on the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter in 2005 A.D. (34 A.T.) has shown that parts of Deuteronilus Mensae do indeed contain ice.

This bring a lot of scientists and tourists, making Deuteronilus Mensae a natural park. Many Sims enjoy to visit this place. Just let your electric car in the parking of the entrance and start walking, the low gravity makes walking more enjoyable.

Love-4 is still a bedroom community, but it also has some industries around...

Nobody knows what happen after death, except that the body will buried in this cemetery.

Time to explore the colony. This is the "cross" part originally made to home plenty of Gens. Most of the upgraded into Bals and Cybs, while others moved away. All those abandonment buildings dismantled and reconstructed by robots, to turn the empty homes into industries and offices.

The "circle" part has a lot of homes for Bals and Cybs, from family homes to 1 kilometre tall arcologies.

Here we can see the central quantum computers of Love-4, being a part of the global cybernetic society of Mars. On planet Mars, scientists and computers replaced the outmoded system of electing politicians in order to elevate the spiritual and intellectual potential of all people, while at the same time providing the goods and services that meet their individual and material needs. By having scientists, computers and robots to maintain planet Mars and it's colonists, politicians are just useless. The result?

:) Earth has Democracy :)
:) Moon has Democracy :)
;D Mars has Anarchism ;D

This communication post is very important. It provides a communication bridge between Mars, Earth and Moon, as well as for linking all the central quantum computers into a planet-size brain.

Love-4 has 300,000 Sims, so a new airport open for the public. Thanks to the technology of Short Take Over and Land (S.T.O.L.) aircrafts, airports became smaller and smaller.

SimMartians love sports and the low Martian gravity makes them more fun. There are many stadiums and sport centres in Love-4.

On planet Earth, universities are mostly a cluster of buildings close to each other, with a lot of open space. On Mars however, the buildings of a university are everywhere, with a lot of underground open space.

Love-4 has plenty of landmarks, culture buildings and parks. There are so many, that adding them is this page is too much. In the next page, we'll see the rest of Love-4 and perhaps the largest collection of park pictures ever made. See you soon :)

This is the second page of the page about Love-4. This is the first page split into 2 pages, but I guess that there is always a first time for everything. This is maybe the biggest page about gardens and parks. Hope that you like it, even if you hate science fiction :)

Nobody? ()sad() ()sad()

Page 37: The red gardens

"I wake up some mornings and sit and have my coffee and look out at my beautiful garden, and I go, 'Remember how good this is. Because you can lose it.'"
Jim Carrey

Welcome again to Love-4. Today we'll explore the landmarks and the parks of this colony. There are a lot of interesting places to visit and many buildings to see. This is the center of the colony, where you can see Anakin Skyalker's house just landed from Tatooine... don't get freak, is just a copy made by Star Wars fans. This small building was the very first landmark on Love-4 and as you can see, it's still exist.

The low gravity of Mars makes the Terran sports very interesting. The athletes can jump very high and run without getting tired too much. Mix the low Martian gravity with the transhumanistic research about upgrading both body and mind, like cybernetic parts and genetic improved eyes, and you'll end up with extraordinary sports!

Thanks to the Cybernetic Anarchism on Mars, everybody is free to make whatever he/she wish. In this convention centre, everybody can show what he/she makes. Sculptures? Paints? Inventions? Bring them on!

There are many beautiful statues at Love-4. Those statues are made by Martian marble, a mix of Martian stones and nanorobot made materials. Some of the symbolize the equality of men and women, while others symbolize the battles of the ancestors for a better world.

Look in the sky and you may see a Hummingbird, a Vertical Take Off and Land (V.T.O.L.) ornithopter.

In 1971 A.D. (2 A.T.), David Bowie released the "Life on Mars?" song.

In honour to him, SimMartians build the David Bowie Hotel, a beautiful futuristic hotel next to the small airport.

An another hotel, the Orange Skies Resort.

In Ancient Rome (55 B.C. or 2024 B.T.), a forum was a gathering place of great social significance, and often the scene of diverse activities, including political discussions and debates, rendezvous, meetings e.t.c.. This is a Martian forum (2065 A.D. or 96 A.T.), where the SimMartians research, talk, express themselves, discuss e.t.c..

This is an entertaining centre, providing a lot of games and other activities for the Sims.

Thanks to the Resource Based Economy of planet Mars, shops and malls works mostly like warehouses than sellers. Need something but you can't make it? Visit this mall, you'll find anything you wish.

The education on Earth in 21st doesn't need books anymore, but holographic quantum computers. We are talking about a library computer system with holographic persons generated on to a series of glass panels, representing the quantum computers database, interacting with people as real persons and have access to all Sim knowledge.

This technology improved a lot on Mars because of the Global Cybernetic Government, increasing the education level of all colonies. You can finally watch the story of humanity (not just read about it) and interact with many historical persons and experiments.

In 2000 A.D. (31 A.T.) Britney Spears becomes the first girl on Mars, at least in the music video of "Oops!.. I did id again".

In honour to her, SimMartians build the Britney Spears Music Laboratory, where everybody can learn about music and how to be a great music artist.

Everybody knows that the Martian environment is too dangerous for free walking, but open plazas are always welcomed. If you're going to live on Mars, you need to learn how to live here. If you learn how to live, Mars belongs to you.

Everybody love parks, but don't expect green open parks on Mars. The Martian parks are domed and separated by trail paths, making a larger park. Some of them surrounds important buildings, while others are stand alone.

Not all parks are generic. Some contain domed ponds and pools for refreshing swimming...

... while others has beautiful domed gardens with flowers and plants.

There are some advertisement and information posts here and there...

... but they are not dangerous for car accidents. Why? Because the cars of 2065 A.D. (96 A.T.) controlled by computers, preventing any kind of traffic jams, accidents and violation of traffic rules. The central quantum computers liberate Sims from any problem, leading the evolution into a technological Utopia. Advance technology however demand advance wisdom. Let's hope that the Sims will never forget it...

I'm not sure which is stranger: the Mars setting ... or the Britney Spears thing?

Even so, I'm relieved to find out that level crossings (which are part of my daily "workspace") will still be around, even on Mars.  :)

Today I'm here with 2 pills. Help me for the next page by selecting the pill you wish. Do this wisely however, the pill you'll select may (or may not) turn against you...

If you select the blue pill, you'll stay on Earth. The next page will be about an ecological metropolis of 2065 A.D. (96 A.T.) on planet Earth, where technology and nature almost co-exist. Everything will be almost as you wish, making the next page nice and safe.

If you select the red bill, you'll visit Mars. The next page will be about improving Fun-5, where the spiritual and technological evolution co-exist with the deadly environment of Mars. Everything will be as I wish, making the next page strange and dangerous.

Swordmaster: There is no Martian version for N.A.M., so level crossings are sadly a part of Mars. However both cars and trains controlled by computers (who needs humans?), so accidents are a thing of the past. As about the strangeness of the Mars setting, it's way better than taking the same road with the majority...

bat: Thank you :)

chester: Glad to see that you like it :)
