At the last moment of this year an update. Over the years is the N282 gradually transformed into A28. The last section of the N282 from exit Graven (N233) to the German Border is constructed with 2x1 lanes. This last part of the N282 will be converted to A28 as part of the 30 bottlenecks program.

Today we visit the construction site. Previously it was intended that the road over the viaduct would have its own connection to the A28. This connection has been canceled because this viaduct will be used for two additional rail tracks (as part of the track doubling Schiphol - Tilburg).

Viaduct in construction at the place of a former level intersection.

From here, the N282 already fully preparing for an upgrade to A28. This is because this part of the route is during construction in the 70s created in partnership with Germany. The rest of the route N282 was built as a temporary way.

The junction with the N15 (Tilburg - Hilvarenbeek). A very small roundabout junction with a narrow bridge, typical of the roads that were build in the 70's.

We are approaching exit Goirle. Again a narrow bridge, not really future-proof.

Continued to Germany.

The new A28 will be opened in January. Thanks to the excellent weather in the Netherlands this winter, the contractor had no lost time during the construction by the weather. The Netherlands has this year the warmest winter ever without snow.

Very nice rural pics.  The farming and the small town look very quaint.  I also like your expansion pics of the highway.  All around great work.
Have a great new year.

Today the A28 extension was officially opened for traffic. The Minister of Transport has also gave a speech of the further completion of the 30 program bottlenecks. One project has been canceled, the project 'A2 Empel - Germany'. This project should be realized with a toll tunnel, including a new HSR link to Germany.  But it is clear that the toll on this section will not provide the desired result. The recently completed A13 motorway whit a toll tunnel proves this also. Most drivers don't pay the toll but ride an few kilometers on the old routes. Only when there are traffic jams on the old routes the drivers will pay the toll.

There are currently four projects under construction, all this projects will be completed this year. There is another project in the licensing procedure, namely the N629 Maasvlakte - Witte Wielen (route modernize and construct a junction whit the A2). We do everything to also take this project under construction this year. Probably there come soon a new project to replace the A2 project to Germany.

Here are the pictures of the new motorway.

Complete bypass Tilburg N14 - N15
Besides the opening of the A28 for the Christmas holiday there was a small opening of the extended bypass road N14. This section complete the bypass road of Tilburg the N14 and the N15. The N15 is connects whit the A28 with the roundabout junction.

The intersection N15 - N14.

The N14 whit 2x1 lanes, there is room reservation for 2x2 lanes.

The N14 has no longer a exit here. This is a temporary solution because the roads will here adjusted. Soon will start the track doubling (Schiphol - Tilburg). The road that now runs along the railway will be demolished the room will be used for the 2 extra rail tracks.

In the old situation the N14 stops here.

Rail track doubling (Spoorverdubbeling) Schiphol - Ressen - Tilburg
Time for an update, the track doubling between Schiphol and Tilburg is completed. In the Netherlands increases the number of rail passengers by 5% per year. This puts enormous pressure on existing infrastructure. A track doubling between Schiphol and Tilburg greatly increases the capacity. Also this makes the construction of a 2 new stations possible at Hoofddorp and Gestel.

The reconstruction of the railway started by the tunnel under the canal and the A5 motorway. The tunnel is expanded with an additional tube. This was by far the most expensive part of the project.

Unfortunately, the four-track curves are not very nice to solve.

The new station Hoofddorp.

This tunnel was built several years ago with preparation for the four tracks rail.

Here begins the rail junction under the HSR.

This tunnel is new for the ring road Ressen, previously here was a level crossing.

The old station Ressen.

The viaduct over the N267 has widened.

The N233 crosses the railway via a tunnel.

In the last update we have see that the N14 was open to traffic with 2x1 lanes. And prepared for expansion to 2x2 lanes. Meanwhile, the widening also implemented.

The second new station, Gestel. The N14 has a level crossing here. This is a temporary solution, the businesses on the north side would not move for making the up and exit to the N14.

Connecting road from the N233 to the new station. The roundabout is new, previously there was only a curve here.

Here is the viaduct of the N14 expanded. Previously, this viaduct had 2x1 lanes.

We are approaching Tilburg, the tunnel under the track is new.

The windmill park is also new. Windmills are very popular in the Netherlands.

The new tunnel for the N269 be also build. The N269 will at a later stage connected whit 2x2 lanes at the N14 bypass Tilburg.

Comments are always welcome!

In the last update we have already seen some parts of the widened bypass Tilburg N14. In this update we look at the entire route of the N14 widened. This entire section had formerly 2x1 lanes. Tilburg has severe traffic problems. The problems are mainly the to small capacity at the N10. An widening of the A10 is very expensive and is not yet on the agenda. It has been reported that a widening of the bypass N14 is the best option for this moment. In the future, the A10 really needs to be rebuild.

The expansion began east of the junction with the A10.

The connection with the N269, here come the N14 and N269 together. The following intersection goes the N269 to Tilburg.

The N269 is again off the N14. This connection is a temporary solution. The entire intersection will rebuild when the farm was bought out.

The N269 will be also built with 2x2 lanes.

This tunnel, we have seen in the previous update. Also prepared to 2x2 lanes.

Back to the N14. This section we have already partly seen in the previous update.

This part of the N14 we have not seen in the previous update.

The intersection with the N15 is the end of the N14.

That's all for this update. Comments are always welcome!

I really like that first pictures junction from your most recent picture upload series, with the slightly sunken highway,  &apls. I've been lurking a bit here in your MD to get new ideas. The rest of the transport network stuff is also great, like others aready said before me.

Urgent-approach - A2 De Dieze - Empel (2x2 lanes to 2x3 lanes)
Today is the first part of the widened A2 opened for traffic. The section from the De Dieze near the junction whit the A26 to Empel is widened to 2x3 lanes. Soon will be opened part 2, the section Empel - A7 corridor to Germany. After this opening have the entire A2 more than 3 lanes in each direction.

The widening began just after the junction with the A26. For the widening, this was a bottleneck, here goes you from 4 lanes to 2 in a half km. You see that now the fourth lane is an exit at this point, and there are 3 lanes for the A2.

The old bridge over the canal was not wide enough. There is a new bridge built next to the old, with 2x3 lanes. The new A2 has also wider bends, for ride safely 130 km / hour at the section.

The intersection with N619, the viaduct is also widened to 2x2 lanes.

A new bicycle link between Empel and De Dieze, overpass the A2.

The intersection with N217, the roundabouts are new.

Today we look at a small update. The renovation of the N617 at Midden Bosch has been completed. The N617 is a connecting road from the A4 to the A27 whit 2x2 lanes. The connection has getting busier in recent years. Before the renovation, there were no emergency lanes on this road section. What makes the road extremely sensitive for traffic jams. The emergency lanes will give a greater security and reliability for the N617. Furthermore, all intersections have changed and got more capacity. There are also bike and bus tunnels constructed. This ensures that this traffic flows no longer need the intersection above. This also increases the capacity for through traffic.

We start at the junction with the A4, and going towards the A27.

The bus connection of the industrial area is also modified.

Overview.

This relatively inexpensive reconstruction helps a lot the files are reduced. And the road is become safer for all traffic types.

That's all for this update. Comments are always welcome!

There are enough projects in the pipeline! Another update. When the A13 be built the discussed started of the modifications off the N263. The N263 should be converted to A13 in the old plans. This plan never carried out because a motorway in a residential area is not desirable. Recently, a small section of the A13 opened as a toll road. This is the section from the junction with the A4 at Boxtel to the junction whit the A28 at Ressen. The old N263 had 2x2 lanes with ground crossings in the residential areas. Outside the residential areas, the N263 had level crossings and a motorway profile. The N263 runs from the junction whit the A4 by Rosmalen to the A27 at Vught and go continue as randweg Vught (Southern bypass of Vught).

The N263 has already carefully renovated. The whole road have got a clearly road image that meets the current requirements. The maximum speed of the new N263 is 80 km / hour. Even in urban areas, there are sound barriers built to keep disruption to local residents to a minimum. The section from the A4 to the A27 has widened to 2x3 lanes. The N263 starts just after the junction with the A4 and A13.

Once Dexter released his tunnel set I can make a aqueduct here.

Above the picture you see a glimpse of the renewed A27. The A27 will be construct in a open tunnel at Vught. The A27 will be widened from the interchange whit the N263 to the junction with the A4 to 2x3 lanes.

The interchange with the A27 and the N263 has been completely renovated to implanted the new N263 correct. Before the reconstruction the N263 closed the A27 to the different level crossing a small tromped. The N263 have no motorway status more, and there is no need for a junction whit different lever crossings.

Not only roads are built. The high-quality bus service is canceled. In its place has come a tram- lightrail link between Vught and Rosmalen.
