Tomas Neto: Thank you! I'm glad you like them.
Skimbo: I'm guessing you meant "many," so thanks!
Ernst (peter007): Thank you, Ernst! Yes, I suppose a few ships couldn't hurt...
Guillaume (Sciurus): Thanks! Unfortunately, when you grow your industry, you have to put up with some repetition, but I don't mind it too much.
Raphael (RickD): Thank you, Raphael! I've enjoyed playing around with the draggable paths and ploppable water, and I'm glad you like what I've dome with them in Nyhaven.
ricardomirandaThanks!
apeguy: Thank you! The paths in Ridgeland Park (which you can also see in the first picture below) are my own custom overlay textures. I haven't released any of them publically yet, since I'm still making more of them, but I definitely plan on making them available to everyone.
bat: Thanks, bat!
David ([dedgren[/b]): Thank you very much, David! That was very much my intention with this tour, so I'm happy you like how it went.
ZenMonster: Welcome to Nyhaven, and thanks for taking the time to read all the way through it! I hope you'll be back for more!
wallasey: Thanks, wallasey!
Terring7: Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the park.

Sorry to disappear for so long! It turns out that I got somewhat burned out on SC4 for a few months, during which time I focused on my other hobby. But now, with a mountain of new custom content to play with, it's time for me to get back in the game! Rather than jump right back into Nyhaven, however, I've been playing around with the latest goodies in the NAM and its related mods, and I've chosem to use my non-recreation of Seattle as a testing ground. But first, how about a look at my last project before I got burned out, just to refresh your memories?

Last summer, I was working on a set of custom lots and textures for the Seattle Center, which when finished will be a large park and sporting/entertainment venue (and maybe, just maybe, a Simlympic park!). There's still a lot of work for me to do before it's completed, though...

Here's a quick look at the private University of Seattle.

The streetcar network is expanding. Here's one line crossing the North End before going under the Seattle Center.

One of my first FlexSPUIs over the R-5 highway, an RHW-6C.

A mosaic across downtown Seattle, showing part of the waterfront.

Downtown is growing taller - so tall, now, that it's getting harder to see the ferry terminal.

Raphael (RickD): Thank you, Raphael! It's good to be back in business.
TiFlo: Thanks!
Dantes: Welcome to Nyhaven, and thank you for the welcome back! I'm glad you approve of my, erm, non-recreation of Seattle.
Noah (noahclem): Thanks, Noah! You and the rest of the NAM Team have really done a great job with the latest releases. It's great to finally be able to play around with all the new features.
apeguy: Thank you, my friend! There's more to come with that park, and I hope you'll enjoy what I have in store.
Gordon (Battlecat): Thanks, Gordon, and a belated congratulations on your promotion!

Well, how fortuitous! I was just about to post the latest specials at ST when I decided to check and see if these forums were back up, and here they are! Last time, I showed you all what I was able to do with the new NAM, NWM and RHW versions in Seattle. Now, though, it's time for a look at those mods' effect on Nyhaven. Let's get started!

Thanks to the new AVE-6 <> Dual OWR-3 draggable transition, I can finally have Main Street split around the central fountain in Ridgeland Park exactly the way I want it to! Also, now that the TLA-3 can have (some) diagonal intersections, it works as a network for the western and eastern boundaries of Ridgeland Park. Now there are only trees where I want them to be!

Further east, Main St now transitions to a TLA-5, with no interruptions in the sidewalks, thanks to another draggable transition. That MAVE-6/AVE-4 intersection, though, looks a little funny...

Turning our attention now to Nyhaven International Airport, a long-time dream of mine has finally come true... OWR-4s serving the terminals! The wider sidewalks give passengers plenty of space to maneuver.

The airport service road branches off here, where the main loop turns around. It seems the OWR-4 diagonals aren't yet able to handle such tight 90° turns...

Feel brand new. Be inspired.

Nice to see you back. I always look forward to your updates my friend. Also, I have been in the same boat as you lately with SC4, it's getting stale. But I think I'll be back soon. Hows everything else?

My new MD. Check it out if you wish.

Adrian, I miss you man.

bat: Thank you! I'm glad you liked them.
ricardomiranda: Thanks!
Alex (KoV Liberty): Nice to see you still here, too, and thanks for the kind words! Yeah, I got tired of playing after a while, but with an upcoming (secret for now) SC4 project, I hope to be keeping this MD going for quite some time (even into the SC5 era). Everything else is going pretty well, thanks for asking.

It's time for another excursion! This time, we're following the R-50 highway. It actually runs all the way across Lower Columbia, from the Pacific coast to the American border, but we're only going to be following it from metropolitan Nyhaven westward. All the same, it should be enough roadway to last three episodes altogether. First, then, is the R-50 as it cuts across Nyhaven!

The R-50 enters the Nyhaven metro area near here, out in the eastern reaches of Cathlamet.

As the freeway gets closer to uptown Nyhaven, it has an interchange with the R-150, the Inner Beltway. Next to the interchange is the Sporthaven entertainment district, home of most of Nyhaven's major sports teams.

After crossing the Elochoman Slough onto Hunters Island, the R-50 follows the island's eastern shore past ColumbiAir Arena.

Further north, the elevated freeway passes near Koreatown.

As the slough turns westward, so does the freeway, passing Midtown's skyscrapers, theaters and nightclubs in the process.

Cutting across Hunters Island, the R-50 makes its way to this bridge over the Columbia River's main channel, alongside the 20th Street bridge. Curiously, neither bridge gets any traffic. I wonder why...

Now on Tenasillahe Island, the freeway continues over this small creek and under the MetroRail's Grey Line.

Before crossing another channel of the Columbia, 20th Street merges with the R-50.

Finally, at the western edge of Nyhaven's suburbs, the freeway turns north as Nyhaven Road, the old highway between Nyhaven and Kendall, splits off from it. They'll both enter the suburbs of Kendall before long...

I always love reading updates from Nyhaven. The pictures are such a pleasure to view.

You're BACK! I've really looked forward to visiting nyhaven again! ;D

Raphael (RickD): Thank you, Raphael! If you want a hint about the secret project, have a look at one of dobdriver's recent LEX uploads. My most recent thread in the "Where can I find this?" forum should also help. ;)
SeanSC4: Thanks, my friend! I am honored by your kind words.
Elydion: Welcome back, and thanks for waiting so long!

We continue our westward journey along the R-50 freeway today.

It isn't long after leaving Nyhaven's suburbs that we enter those of Kendall, capital of Lower Columbia. Our first views of the capital are of the neighborhood of Holborn.

As we get closer to Kendall's CBD, we pass a few blocks north of Fitzsimmons Square, the city's major cultural destination. The Kendall New Opera House is one of several landmarks on the square.

Just north of the CBD, the R-50 has an interchange with the southern segment of the R-3, which bisects the CBD to the south, and the R-350, which heads north through the seaport at Pelargir-upon-Columbia (which you may remember from our excursion along 10th Street). This interchange, popularly known as the Kungakorset, has yet to be upgraded to RHW because I need diagonal ERHW-6 (S or C) capability to do it right.

There's more to the Kungakorset than just those two freeways, however. Just west of the main cloverleaf, a diamond interchange with Meade Street is interwoven with the cloverleaf's ramps, giving drivers heading east on the R-50 access to both of the other freeways as well as Meade St. The 18th- and 19th-century apartments north of the interchange may soon be neighbors to modern housing, as the industrial park beyond them is in decline and may soon be redeveloped.

To the west, the R-50 crosses from the mainland to Camden Island on the King Michael III Bridge. A series of public housing projects lie just to the south.

Once on the island, we reach more of suburbia.

A bit to the south of the R-50, however, there's the Kendall National Cemetery, the final resting place of thousands of Lower Columbia's veteran soldiers and diplomats.

Before leaving Camden Island, the freeway skirts Kendall's answer to Sporthaven - its very own sporting development. All of Kendall's professional sports teams play their home games here.

Further west, the R-50 crosses over to Karlson Island and passes near Kendall Municipal Airport. This airport is much smaller than Nyhaven International Airport and serves mostly business passengers and the federal Lower Columbian government. Almost all commercial air traffic to and from the capital goes to NHN.

After crossing back onto the mainland west of the town of Knappa, the R-50 meets the R-250, Kendall's southern bypass route, and heads out of the capital. Further west lies Astoria, and then, the freeway's end at the Pacific coast...

Nice work   I'm not a big fan of Maxis highways but I like the ways you've used them--it's like a much-improved version of how I used them before I switched to RHW  ;D  I'm enjoying the cityscape as well, especially the stadia and landmarks.

Nice techno btw  ;)
