Update!

Hi again.
First of all let me apologize for my long absence. I've been working a lot for the past couple of weeks, and when I'm not working im out enjoying the weather :)

I don't have time for personal replies right now, but id like to thank everyone who has commented my pictures. You're all so kind :)

Now, I have some news that you may find interesting...
Due to my work I'm out on the roads here in central Sweden, a lot... Driving through mostly rural areas has influenced me - I want to try to recreate some of the rural areas ive seen during the last weeks. Ive never really tried creating anything even remotely rural before so this will be an adventure :)

I know I promised more urban/suburban pictures in my first post, but you'll have to hang in there. I'm really anxious to get this rural experiment going :)

Here's a teaser of whats to come (expect a proper update in the near future ;))

thundercrack83

Beautiful teaser, bigberta!I love your use of the windmills! I can't wait to see more of your rural developments!

stewart_garden

Beautiful pictures BigBerta.  I'm looking forward to seeing more of your region.  I have always wanted to visit Sweden but somehow never got around to it.  Your MD will do for now!

First things first, but not necessarily in that order.

That's a beautiful picture, BigBerta! Great work! Looking forward to that update!

Hi
My computer has been acting up during the last couple of days. It's crashing regularly - I think it's because of the heat...
This of course presents a problem. I'ts preventing me from playing as much as I'd like to. And that means that I can't promise that the next update will be coming anytime soon. I hope it will, but unless I get my computer fixed you're in for a wait... Sorry all, just cross your fingers...

I thought I'd just give you something to look at until the next update, my first really scenic picture :)

Island in a typical Swedish lake

metasmurf

It's a shame your computer wont work. I had a crash recently myself, so I made a rationall decision and bought a new one, lol. Anyway the lake looks realistic. Reminds me of Umeälven around where I live in the north :)

Ennedi

Beautiful picture.

Only a few kinds of trees, earth and water. Perfect composition. Nothing else to say.

Beautiful first scenic picture! Looks great!

Wooow, the first image with wind mills is wonderful and very realist  &apls &apls

MsD

At least your problems are cause from a computer instead of just plain stupidity like mine was (refer to my MD to see what I am talking about) it was one big headache.

Beautiful teasers BTW.  I love both of them.

Hello once again!
First of all, let me thank you for your fantastic comments. You make all the "hard" work totally worthwhile :)

I've been really active here these last few days :) I guess it's because the weather is not quite as nice as it was...
Like I said in my previous post, there is something wrong with my computer. I was planning on postponing my next update until I felt I had enough pictures to post, but since I don't know when that might be I thought to myself: heck, why keep the pictures I do have to myself? Why not let the world see them? - So here they are, the pictures I managed to take before my computer started acting up. I hope to get my computer sorted out soon...
Until then, enjoy these ;)

Farms close to the lake

Farms close to the village church

Overview of the same area

Farmlands

Something different. This is where the farmlands end and the city begins. What's a recreation of Sweden without IKEA? :)

That's all I have for now, hope to see you soon. Puss o kram ;)

Whoa. Freakin Awesome  The only thing I would do differently is the church. It's a bit to big to big for this kind of area but otherwise it's a perfect example of swedish realism, especially in that last picture with the transition farms->commercial retail.

And that ditch beside the highway, wow you've thought of just about everything.

Puss och kram, lol  $%Grinno$%

emilin

Really, really good. And I have to disagree with metasmurf. I don't think the church is too big, it looks just fine to me. On the other hand I don't like one of the farms (the "cube" one) - I think it looks more mediterranian than Swedish.

But all in all:

Beautiful pictures of your farm lands! The other picture is also great! Looking forward to the not farm area!

Great pictures of your farming area.  Looks very realistic and well thought out.  Very good use of peg's stream and the plop water blends in well to the surrounding scenery.  I'll have to watch out for this one.

Well, I have some time on my hands. Why not spend it replying to all the kind people who have commented?
Still can't play the game though, so no update  :( stay tuned for that...

FromTheAshes - Danke schön :)

Vario80 - Thanks, that was the idea.

tcx - Really? Which one is yours? Oh, and thank you :)

Yoder7652 - Thank you very much.

sebes - Thanks. Again, thats what I was trying to do. Glad you noticed.
(I think its my favorite to, so far... ;))

MsD - Thank you, im glad you like it. I'm sure yours will look even better :)

glepet - Thanks, hope you liked the last update too.

szarkoz - Wow, thank you. I'm really pleased to know that I've influenced someone. I remember the times that I've stumbled on to a CJ/MD and been influenced. Thats what this is all about.

Ennedi - Thank you. The cycleways are an important part of the swedish infrastructure. We like to ride our bikes here :)

thundercrack83 - Thanks. I hope you liked the next set of pictures aswell.

stewart_garden - Thank you. Rightly so. I would really recommend coming here, but only in the summer :) Unless you like rainy winters, but I guess you're pretty fed up with that, being british and all ;)

bat - Danke. Glad you liked it

metasmurf - Tack :) I'll probably have to buy a new one... Oh, and I love that part of the country. It's too bad i don't visit it more often...

Ennedi - Thanks again. That was the best I could do to match the swedish flora.

bat - Thanks. I plan on making more :)

Snaper - Thank you, very kind.

MsD - Thanks. You forgot to make a backup, right? Too bad...

metasmurf - First of all, tack så mycket :) You make an excellent point. I can see how you would think that the church is to big, but actually, churches in this part of sweden (närke, västmanland, sörmland) are fairly big. However, i don't think that this particular church is right for the setting, but I havent been able to find any really nordic looking ones. Maybe you know..? And I really wish that the ditch didn't have to be so big... :)

emilin - Tack :) Damnit, you're right. I didn't notice that. I'm removing it immediately :)

bat - Thank you. There will be more urban/suburban pictures. You'll just have to wait a while ;)

rooker1 - Thanks. I'm glad you like my humble MD :)

Ok folks, that's it for this time. Don't give up on me, there will be more updates. I live for this stuff ;)

Until tomorrow then...

Oh, I almost forgot :)

Here are two more pictures i managed to find :)

Fences line the roads and highways in Sweden. It's to protect the cars from wildlife such as elk, deer, fox and what not. And of course the other way around :)

This is an updated view of an area featured in a previous post and its also the same area as in the picture above. Where the farms and the city meets.

Hope you like :)

Hi Bigberta,

All that I can say it's that it's incredible of realism  :o  I love your fields, I love your work with PhotoShop

In sort, It's very beautiful ... Bravo  &apls &apls

I love the pictures, except for one detail. The fence is a litle overkill. I know of a set of props that looks very similar to what you're trying to create, (Viltstängsel, right ?). They're included in Jeronij industrial mega pack vol 1. They even have openings so raindeer can be moved over the road in controlled maners.

About the churches, simgoober has released a few churches in scandinavian style, links provided

Small Nordic Church

Grundtvig Church

There's one more over at ST but the search function doesn't work at the moment.

Forgive me for beeing picky, but as the pictures almost reaches perfection, I feel obligated to help out :)

stewart_garden

These last two pictures are really beautiful Bigberta.

I am from Scotland originally, so I am very used to wet winters!  I can't say that I like them too much though, but it has always made me want to have some sort of weather function in SimCity because in all of my cities it is a beautiful day every day, and that just doesn't seem right  :)
