Heh yes, that train trumpet is perhaps a bit over the top. But hey, it looks kinda cool. Thanks again everyone. Hope you'll enjoy this episode too!

In the 11th episode of the SC4 LP, I fill in the rest of a city quad while talking about various things
NOTE: Episode is quite long (34 minutes!) and took up roughly 50GB of harddrive space when recorded. Luckily that can be sized down before uploading, or my ISP would be mad.  $%Grinno$%

Enjoy!

Good update, on both sim city and SC4Devotion. I didn't know all these topics were in discussion. I don't really care about karma, although it would be nice ::) and all i have done for the community is one little bat which is on simtropolis so, i haven't done much...

I like the trumpet interchange but it will have to change when the region grows and needs the ground... maybe a future park?

I really like the idea of cattle farms, even if i can't use them as im currently using as little dependencies as possible (i got tired of them, huge loading times and crashes).

Wow!  50 gigs?  My raw footage for the 3 hours of footage in the superspeed video only took up like 2.  &Thk/(

But I really like all you've done so far, and now that I know where you announce livestreams I'll make sure to stop by those too.  I might start showing my videos on here eventually too, though I must say that although we started our series simultaneously, you are way ahead in progress now   :-[

CasperVg

emmotic: thanks! yeah it could be a nice area for a future park indeed
CR: yup, that's Fraps for you. The quality of it's recording is great, but the file sizes are massive. Usually I have to downsize/re-render the files by quite a bit before even thinking of loading it up into my editing software (the 50GB file would make it crash :P ) Good luck on your series too :)

My bad for the brown boxes ;). But anyway, due to picture analysis, I could quickly find the source of the problem, which was a broken model reference and I could upload the fix pretty quickly on the STEX.

Anyway, I like the look of your layout.. It looks quite different from my playing style, which is more dense (but not too skyscraper ruled...)

Great episodes!

Some time ago I had the same idea as you and used Jestarr's animals on farm field lots but I wasn't satisfied with it. While they were scattered around pretty much at random, it looked very unnatural as animals tend to huddle together in reallife. But maybe you'll be able to get a better result. btw, instead of adding blank models to a propfamily to achieve randomness, you might want use the 'prop random chance' property instead.  ;)

Also, fun fact, dirty industry always appears as medium wealth ingame, eventhough it employs low wealth sims. Crazy right?!  ???  :D

This, that, that.. is amazing. That one suggestion will save me at least 10h of boring repetitive work. Thanks a ton!
So excited I couldn't wait for an update to comment on this

Yay!! City names!!! Really liked that last region overview and the bridge over the rail tracks on city 1.

I don't think the region is ready for a highway... just my opinion...

Looking foward for more

Casper, I really enjoy watching your episodes. It is so interesting to see how you are building up your cities, and it is quite addictive, since it is so new to actually watch SimCity. I appreciate all your notably detailed explanations on the various different topics. Please keep up the great work. Although I might not comment at these boards very often, I have watched all of your episodes so far. Your city style is very similar to some of my cities, by the way, especially due to zoning each lot individually and the village style cities.

Incidentally, I noticed you are constantly having difficulties in dragging roads and streets as the drag turns red quite frequently, which is really strange. I am wondering whether this is a side effect of the Ennedi slope mod, but I have never used that one.

I have the same experiences regarding the loan shops. However, sometimes I get the NIMBY Lots instead of the loan shops all over the place causing some serious crime problems in the villages.

If I may just recommend this mod to you. It eliminates the 4x4 minimum size of agricultural zones, which is very helpful whenever zoning non-rectangular farm fields which you seem to be very fond of. ;)

Sorry guys, definitely tried to get an episode out today, but I guess it being "Episode 13" came with a few problems.. First I CTD'ed out while recording, then I forgot to only capture the SC4 window (accidentally recorded my entire screen) and then the third time the quality was all messed up (very bad screen tearing, pixelated, very bad sound quality) so didn't want to upload that because it wasn't up to standards.

Now I'm out of time to prepare an episode today, but decided to at least post a teaser picture; which also shows why the title was going to be "Pivot irrigation fields"..

Wow, how unlucky!!! &mmm Hope you can upload more chapters, even if you have to skip chapter 13...

Re: teaser pic. Did you put the CPI fields on slopes? Because I see the props are a bit out of sync. As far as I know, they ought to be on flat land to have the right results (probably IRL, too). Not that I mind, but you might.

Keep it up!

Cheers

I did not watch all your episodes yet, I will, but I have to say that I enjoyed watching you playing Sim City 4 so far ! :)

I would love to see you landscaping a bit more ! But hey, this is just my point of view  :P

Keep it up ! :)

MandelSoft: Hehe, thanks for fixing that. Definitely using them in this episode :)
vortext: Heh, that's something I hadn't considered but you're right, they definitely do huddle together. I'll have to see how I can try to mimic that a little
emmotic: Definitely going to upload more chapters, and yes I am skipping chapter 13, as you can see below  %wrd And yes, city names!  &hlp It's getting a little confusing for me even, so I'll probably give all the tiles a name soon.
memo: Thank you! Yeah, the red roads/streets are probably caused by (Ennedi's) slope mod. It's a small annoyance of an awesome mod that makes it all look a lot better so I can live with it  :)
Swordmaster: Yup, the slope-conformity is the issue here, and you're right, it makes sense IRL too. I wouldn't want to construct one of these on 10% slopes. Thanks!
Ol.S / Benoit: Thank you, I still have a lot to learn in terms of landscaping (especially compared to masters like you!) but I promise I'll try to do it a little more often soon. Practice makes perfect I guess
art128: Heh yup, it's fun, but comes with a lot of frustrations sometimes

Episode 14: Skipping one

In this episode I try to show you everything I built during the unreleased Episode 13, do some roadworks everywhere and show an overview of the region as it stands right now.

Enjoy!

Great update. I would let the region should grow north from now on and small lots with zone medium recidential near the CBD to avoid those height changes...
Also, i notice some windmills should be changed. Looking foward for 15!

Episode 15: I almost forgot the station!

Episode 15 of my SimCity 4 Let's play. We build some new public transportation and start a new city tile. It has been up on Youtube for a couple of hours now, but haven't been able to post it here yet (it uploaded while I was doing some babysitting). Also, this is the first video where I tried audio noise reduction, let me know what you think  :)
