Craig, hey!  It's about time you made it over here with your great work.  I've scanned the whole thing- now I'll go back and look at leisure.

You're getting a bunch of good comments, too.  Selicia will be one to keep an eye on.

Good luck!

Jmouse: I'm glad you like the "springy" feel to the towns, and maybe you should listen to your own advice more often! Thanks for commenting!
pickled_pig: I'm glad you like the rural areas, and the more urban areas "don't exactly match up" because Maxis buildings are like that! Plus, more parking would make it more realistic, but I'm in this for aesthetics, meaning if I have to deviate from realism to make something look good, I will! I don't mean anything about your work by saying that, but I have my own way. Also, in response to this: "I'm uncertain if the urban area is supposed to be clean, new sprawl or a gritty inner-city neighborhood..." I don't know myself yet! I'm building everything as I go! Anyway, thanks for your comment!
bat: I'm glad you like the railway, and more updates are to come later! Thanks for commenting!
tooheys: Yes, I love those bus stops! And I'm glad you like the rural areas! Thanks for your comment!
Manny: I'm glad you like the towns and the nature contained within them! Thanks for commenting!
thundercrack83: I'm glad you like the railroad and the country roads in the town! Thanksf for your comment!
Owen Luby: Yeah, I'm back again! I'm glad you like everything, and I hope I won't quit this time! Thanks for commenting, and drummers pride right back at ya!
Jmouse: I'm glad you like the night shots! Oh, and reading has never been a fun thing for me until I discovered the Left Behind series...anyway, thanks for your comment!
patfirefghtr: Hey, I'm glad you like what you see, and I hope to see you back! Thanks for commenting!
Snaper: I'm glad you like the town! Thanks for your comment!
dedgren: Hey David! I'm glad you like my MD, and I hope to keep it going here! Thanks for commenting!
NASCAR_Guy:
Except for Perkins Furniture (because the railroad is part of the lot), I don't think there's a "right" way to place the buildings. Nevertheless, thanks for watching!

Hey, everybody! I'm still reading my books, so it's still going to be a while. Meanwhile, I'll leave you with a pic of a glitch I discovered today that I had to not save to get rid of (and I lost quite a bit), but here it is:

Somebody must've invented a waterless cement!
God is awesome!

Jmouse

Craig, if you can make a navigable roadway on that last photo, I gotta' know how and why!
And it's good to see that you're able to make room for a variety of activities in your life like SC, eating, SC, sleeping, SC, reading, SC ...  ;)
Selicia is still coming along nicely, but I'm already losing sleep over that avenue connection!  :D
Until next time ...

Really like the small farming selection winding its way along the road.  Rail curves and overpasses are also very scenic.  The small town you've started reminds me of many towns here in Australia built along the rail lines, some of which I drove through over the weekend (although they are a little bit less dense).

I really want that map you are using and the only thing of comdude21's that I can find is a MapSquadpack that doesn't appear to have Plantation Bay in it. :-[

Found it, something funny with my use of the STEX search function. Searching "comdude21" only brings up files with comdude21 in their text, however clicking the hyperlinked comdude21 brought up all his files.  &mmm

Hmmm, that's never happened to me before. Sorry to hear that you lost some work having to close without saving. I'll be looking forward to seeing your next update, though! Take care!

Teaser for Update 4

Just so this MD won't get moved to the "Completed MDs" section, I'm posting a teaser to an update that'll hopefully come in a few weeks. So, here it is:

You probably won't see the combination of trees used in the above picture in real life, but I thought they just looked good together, and this MD IS NOT all about realism.

Well, replies will be next update. Thanks for watching, and don't worry because I'm not giving up this MD!
God is awesome!

thundercrack83

Glad to see that you haven't given up here, cityhawk! And I believe, with my post, you should be getting moved up to the "Ones to Watch" category as soon as David (dedgren) makes the move.

As for the teaser, well, it looks excellent, too! I'll be looking forward to seeing what updates you have for us in the future!

Jmouse

Hope you're enjoying your summer of reading, but will be glad to see you back in the game.

Until next time...

Great teaser, travis cityhawk! The buildings are looking nice!

tooheys

Good to see you back cityhawk. Thats a nice pic and I'm sure that somewhere on this planet of ours
there will be a similar combination of trees (although it might be in someones backyard :)).

Will be looking out for your next update.

Cheers

Update 4 - Caribeas: This Side of the River

Caribeas is a smallish town just west of Clariston. In anticipation of a population boom, the Caribeas city government has already completed a section of what will become an interstate highway. Also planned, the avenue that runs north-south on this side of the river in Caribeas will take on a U.S. highway route number after the main city is built.

Also remember that you probably won't see the combination of trees used in the below pics in real life, but I thought they just looked good together, and this MD IS NOT all about realism.

Most shots from now on will be taken from zoom level 3, but don't worry because I will include closeups that I really liked. So anyway, let's get started!

That's the north-south avenue in the below pic. It's name is Strangeline Blvd. because for some unexplained reason the pine trees stop growing to the west of that avenue!

This is the lush richy neighborhood to the west of Strangeline Blvd. and north of Harshray Ave.

Going south along Strangeline Blvd. Harshray Ave. is in view to the west.

Turning 90 degrees to the right, we face SW

To the left of last pic...

This is the north part of Pikey Park. Pikey Pyramid is a replica of the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt, built to give people a taste of what the real pyramid is like and to increase the city's income greatly. Pikey comes from the man, Matthew Pikey, who conceived the idea for the replica.

The southern part of Pikey Park where Matthew Pikey Church of God and Pikey Infirmary sit. Also, the many sports fields on both sides of the park are where people from all over come to watch tournament games

Southern part continued...

The last 4 pics are closeups that I really liked, so enjoy!

Jmouse: Well that pic was just meant to show a glitch in the game, but yes I fixed that area! Thanks for commenting!
patfirefghtr: That was just a glitch I was showing, and I fixed the area. Thanks for your comment!
BossOx: For some reason, I hate wasting time with farms, but I'm so caught up in making them look good that I guess they do turn out good! I'm glad you like them and the railroad! Thanks for your comment!
thundercrack83: Ah, just my stupid computer, I guess. Here's the next update...
thundercrack83 (2): No, I'm not giving this one up. I've done that too many times, so here's to when I get the whole region finished!! Thanks for commenting!
Jmouse (2): Yeah, I'm almost done with the reading, and hopefully I'll be able to play SC4 more often, although I don't know with this being my senior year in HS. Thanks for your comment!
bat: Well, either you commented in the wrong MD or you've got me confused with somebody else, but my name is Craig. Anyway, I'm glad you like everything, and thanks for commenting!
tooheys: The trees thing...yeah, maybe! Anyway, thanks for your comment!
God is awesome!

thundercrack83

Looks pretty good, my friend! I was surprised to see the Great Pyramid in there, but then I read the explanation and all is well! Keep up the good work!

Jmouse

Well now, Caribeas looks very inviting. With temps 100 degrees and rising where I live, those shady spots look pretty good.
As for the pyramid, I like to see lots used in innovative ways. Maybe later you could add some other elements to create a big "tourist park" complete with walking trails. Miniature golf, a zoo and an amusement park come to mind, all separated by lots of trees of course :)
And here's wishing you all the best in your senior year of H.S.

Until next time,
Joan

Pat

Cityhawk that was real lovely update i loved the pyramid shot, its very different - pat
