Awesome update, SA!

Great story! Also wonderful pictures! Picture 15.10 looks beautiful!

I'm sorry that there haven't been any updates in Ensenada - real life is pressing down hard, with my Trial HSC coming up in a couple of weeks, then it's the real thing in October. The HSC (Higher School Certificate) is well, pretty much required for me to go to university.

Unfortunately, I don't think a proper update will be able to be done until November, when I finish my final year of school. If anything, it's not likely that I'll be able to update any time between now and then. Some might ask "what about between August and October?" - well, I'll end up being studying throughout that whole period, but if anything, knowing me, I'll probably play SC4 from time to time, and finish any modding projects before then. I'll probably wind up all my SC4 stuff on or around 18 September - a month before the HSC starts. I know Ensenada's first anniversary is October 1, but I have a feeling I'll miss that...

So, that's the low-down on what's going on with Ensenada. Come November 7 (when I have my final exam - Studies of Religion 2), I should be home free (unfortunately, I have to wait for my results till Dec 14 or thereabouts). I don't know what I'll do with Ensenada then - maybe I'll keep working on it, or start a new region.

Pat: Thanks! Unfortunately, that next update's gonna be quite a while...
Snaper: Thanks! :P
sebes: It's a pink elephant... haven't seen one of these in a while. :P Thanks! :P
Asimov: Hmm, I suppose you're right, but I didn't have the necessary BATs at that time when I created the islands.
Nik: Yes... that's life. Shame, really.
flame1396: That'd be a problem, because they're hand-terraformed, and well... I don't know how to only put in part of a region if I was to release it in SC4M format...
thundercrack: Thanks!
jayo: Thanks!
toxic: Thanks!
StegSC: I'm using the rock texture that came with the Missouri Breaks terrain mod.
zzsim: Thanks! :P
Robin (rooker1): Thanks! It was quite an interesting effect, so I decided to keep it.
Emilin: Easy - all I did was zone Agriculture around it. But to make the zone invisible (rather than using Zoneria): you hold down Ctrl while zoning the agriculture plot, and it'll disappear when you draw it over the road. Same principle for Residental and Commercial zones. That same method also provides power to the weather station. :P
bat (x2): Thanks!
Strech: I got the lighthouse from the STEX. It's called the Sages' Lookout or something along those lines. It's by rp2005, I think. As for the terrain mod, it's the Missouri Breaks terrain mod with modified elevation range parameters.
David: Thanks! The usual stuff... hmm, I wonder what happens if I go into unusual territory...
Yoder: Well, I'll admit I prefer nature shots, mainly because they're er, so easy to construct... :P Thanks!
gonzalo12345: Thanks! I use the Missouri Breaks terrain mod, but as I said earlier, it's got a modified elevation range so it appears greener.

Well, till the next time, folks.

Sorry to hear that you won't be around for a while, SA, but school has to come first. I'll be counting the days until November!

Good luck at school Shadow, the final year is more important than updating this MD.

But I will miss your updates: always have to make a quick look at what's up in Ensenada. I'll be waiting for November to do so again...   :satisfied:

It's pretty quiet here RL-wise (got a break before my next bunch of exams - next Monday, but I felt like a break so here we go :P), but this'll do in keeping Ensenada alive anyways...

And well, I present Ensenada International Airport. It's under construction right now, with one terminal and two runways completed. The second phase of the project -- I'll complete it whenever I feel like it :P

This is Ensenada International Airport (IATA: ESA; ICAO: GCEI).

Quote from: ICAORegion G: Greater Savannah - Central Sanubia
W: West Savannah
S: San Fernando (encompassing the provinces of San Fernando and Scania)
C: Cartagena (the three eastern provinces - Valencia, Ensenada and Aracione - Cartagena is the capital of Valencia province)
  • EI: Ensenada International Airport
  • GM: Greater Midlands Airport

A closer-up pic. :P Terminal 1 has 34 gates in the main terminal, with gates 35 - 38 being on the walkway to the smaller local planes. It is likely gates 31, 32, 33 and 34 will be removed to allow runway 05-L to be longer (they are right up next to the diagonal asphalt section).

Closer up, and you can see Terminal 1, along with the control tower, which has underground access to T1. The grass area in front of T1 is yet to be prettied up. Right now, it has a face that only a truck tyre would love. More parking's needed.

Look, Ma, it's annotated! Anyways, this airport is crying out for something... can someone guess what it is? :P

That's about all, folks! --SA

[edit: I just noticed I stuffed up 05-L and 05-R... they should be reversed. Same goes for 21 (or is it 22?).]
[edit 2: LOL, I just realised this is the second time I've posted an airport update in the middle of exams! See March 31 :P]

The International Airport of Ensenada is looking fantastic so far! Great pictures!

emilin

I'm guessing it's crying for diagonal runways. ;D

That is an amazing airport under development, by the way. The terminal is... well, maybe not the most "interesting" looking one, but certainly the most realistic I have seen so far in SC4. Once again, it is your feeling for scale that makes the point (it's ALWAYS bigger than you think it is).

One thing looks a bit odd: the airport tower standing in the middle of nowhere. It looks lonely.  ;D It doesn't really need to be placed "inside" the airport in my opinion. It can just as well go just beside the terminal, or something. It needs a road connection anyway...

And also, a petty you won't update regularly for while. I'll miss that. I certainly hope you will be around for advicing me on improving my mapping skills though...  ;)

Super work on the airport and so realistic.  I can't wait to see the rest for sure.  I like the setup and the building.  I'm not so good at airports, although I do try, so more pics of yours so I can copy, I mean learn from would be great.  Which airport pack do you use? And where did the main building come from?

I have to agree that airport is one of the finest I've ever seen! Where did you get those terminal buildings? They are amazing! Glad to see an update here in Ensenada!

sebes

Man Travis - this is absolutely the most realistic airport ever seen in MD's (except for the no-road-to-tower that Emilin mentioned) ! It's absolutely great, especially the construction of the terminal.  I can see you have a place reservered for the diagonal runway... Once that has been released, this airport will be state of the art - for sure!  &dance &dance &dance &dance

The airport Looks fantastic! Makes me want to play right away! (I'm currently in the process of reordering all my plugins to accomodate CAM, I have decided to organise all the the dependencies in one folder and then have different region types (Desert, Mediteranian, UK etc) as satelite folders, so using the sc4 manager all the regions will always have the right dependencies!).
I find that alcohol, taken in sufficient quantities, can bring about all the effects of drunkenness.

EIA is very wonderful airport SA great job and planning too

Thanks, guys, for your comments. I do appreciate it. :P IO

Here's a nice little surprise for you folks. I'm planning on redoing the Brackenfell map totally, and I've got a detailed map of the Brackenfell CBD down below:

If I showed it as it is right in this topic, it'd really stretch the window - it's about 1576 pixels wide, and 1124 high. I won't be doing the entire map to this scale - it'd turn out to be freakishly huge. It's only something like 1.2 or so km wide SC4 scale. One grid square is 100m x 100m, according to that scale I've got below. That section is 1536 pixels wide, 1024 high. So, if you translated that to the size that Brackenfell is right now (4x4 large city tiles - the section shown is the width of 1 small city tile - 1200x800 :P)... it'd end up being 24,576 pixels wide by that same height! And it'd crash my computer - 4096 is about as far as I can go on my current setup (maybe further if I picked up more RAM). So, no way I'm gonna do that. :P The normal scale will be 2048 pixels wide by 2048 high, the equivalent of four large city tiles - one "quadrant", so to speak. I will probably bump it up to 4096, but subdividing each map into 20 sections, each map being rectangular in shape to emulate what you'd get in a street directory. I will create maps like I did for Brackenfell CBD for all of the five cities, and possibly some selected areas. But... don't think I'm gonna name every freaking street on the big maps... it was tedious enough as it is on the big CBD map.

Thank goodness for those Photoshop tutorials that allowed me to create those accursed dotted lines. So, enjoy.

Oh, and sebes, my name is not Travis. :P

How the heck did I not see this MD until now?

What a fantastic MD, it's very realistic and the pictures are so detailed. Great job SA. I especially like the airport and the diagonal terminal.
After a long absence, I'm back! And I will be starting a new MD soon.

Yoman

A very nice airport that is, and I must agree with emilin about the terminal, very well done, hes right about the control tower also though, it looks so lonely.

thundercrack83

SA--That map is amazing. I don't really know what to say! It's simply amazing! In fact, it's so good, I think it deserves a visit from the Karma Police!
