This is how I imagine it:

jestarr says to himself, "I have an hour for lunch today. What I should I do? I know, I'll look at industrial structures online! I like that one, time for Gmax. Thirty minutes later...take a look at my latest model, the textures will change."

We, the loyal fans and users of his work, ponder how exactly he does it. And as we look back at his older releases, there doesn't seem to be any learning curve.

I consider jestarr to be the best industrial batter, bar none. Keep up the good work, sir. Hopefully there will be enough jestarr creations that I will be able to complete get rid of my non-CAM Industrials.

Cheers,
Kevin

@BigSlark: Wow!  What a glowing testimonial.  Thanks and I'm glad you like them.

So, for those following along, I finished the building portion of the model during lunch.  Now it's on to roof junk, texturing, some plant stuff around the front entrance and maybe a BATted sidewalk too.  Here's a test render pic.  I was looking to see if anything obvious was missing. :D  Cheers!

p.s.  The learning curve was, and still is, there. :P

I agree 100% on what he said - You are the best Industrial batter around - Thanks for for all of your Bats - Look forward to many more- To the Industrial King  &apls &apls ;D
I'm nutty and I Bat and they're coming for me with the white coats again

Yoman

Hes the Henry Ford of industrial BATs, cranking out high quality ones nearly every time I log onto Sc4D, truly a pioneer.

bat

Fantastic picture of that great looking building, jestarr!

FromTheAshes

When will you continue working on the VW power plant?
Visit Vorsfelde.

Madeira aka Constantina

textures may look plain but you're doing quite well

good overall

Diggis

it's not just the quality, but the volume that blows me away.  Are you the most prolific of the BSC?  It's got to be you or Goober surely  &apls

BigSlark

I think SG still takes the cake, Diggis, but I'm sure jestarr is catching up.

jestarr, the building looks great, I can't wait to see what lot you come up with.

Cheers,
Kevin

jestarr

Actually, SG has near 5 times the BATs uploaded that I do. ;D  The chances of my catching up are slim to none. :D  OK, I was asked to make a residential version of the calendar factory, and although it's not my forte, I figured I could fake it well enough.  It'll come in three brick textures, probably in a family.  Here's a couple test render pics of two of them.  I'm not quite happy with the roof junk, so I'll be working on that some more.  The textures will be ok with a little tweaking.  The third brick texture will be the same as the original on the factory version.  Cheers!

Bluebeard

Excellent as always.
If your taking a stab at Residental might I suggest a Roof Garden.Thanx for the update.

ardecila

Instead of another red-brick version, could you potentially do a buff-brick version?  There aren't too many buff-brick buildings for SC4.

jestarr

Hmmm... something along this line perhaps?  Acme Brick calls this Buff Colorado.

Frankie

I like that texture! it suits the building well  I especially like the entrance.

ardecila

Yeah, that's closer to what I had in mind, but at least in the Chicago area, buff brick has a defined look: almost-uniform color, and thin mortar lines.  This may not look too good in SC4, it's your call - I like the Colorado version anyway.

  :o :-[  %BUd% %BUd% %BUd%   ;)

These are perfect.  I love the brick textures.

Robin
Call me Robin, please.

Serkanner

I agree with the people before me ... this is coming along mighty nicely.

Madeira aka Constantina

that's a good start with your bricks although i prefer something a little bit more decorative please

jestarr

OK, I rendered the four residential versions, so I could look at them in-game.  Needed to check on how the textures would look.  They're not too bad, but still need a little work. :P  Here's how they look so far in the game.  Cheers!
