Once you have the SC4 models ( pls, pls, dont forget to follow the tutorial about LODing http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=158.0 ) you can send me a PM, and we will start to work with it  ;D

Who stops following a tutorial half way through :) I'm very glad that you'd like to take on this project and am going to do everything to make it as easy as possible (LODs). Already re textured for GLR btw :)

Just popped in to see what's new in here. Gunkid, nifty bridge. I never thought of making one that was broken for the game, but I can see the potential for it.

-Yoman: that causeway looks great. I hope it gets integrated into the game. A good, basic bridge is always a plus.

from the behind the scenes pics ya showed me this bridge has high potential simple yet great design....i cant wait to see this in game and more development....hehe you make me sound like a sly fox  :D in case u guys dont know that bridge style its the design style for the lake ponchartrain causeway

Are you from Louisiana? 'cause that's also the design for the Twin Span between New Orleans and Slidell and I-55 on the western edge of Ponchartrain AND I-10 over the Atchafayla Swamp west of Baton Rogue.

Yoman, great looking bridge design. Its something that's missing from the game. I hope that someday RHW draggable bridge overrides will be figured out and that this bridge will be an option.

Cheers,
Kevin

@ Bigslark: Im from good ole Nashville, TN and i used to live in Houston,TX but when I would travel to and from to visit my relatives and also when i would visit my parents when I was in Houston, I would travel down I-10 and I would love when i get to the Atchafalaya Freeway Bridge! I shouldve corrected my comment and said that that bridge style is fairly common in Louisiana. But yeah its always interesting to drive on the interstates in Louisiana!  :)

What about Tower Bridge in London?
I can't see what a center/support piece would be since the bridge is of a fixed length.
London Bridge

DuskTrooper

Anyway, I was supposed to have this done a few months ago, but a certain someone never came through with it...(he who shall remain unnamed...)

It is a modern bridge type thingy, with blue structural members.
Here is a prototype rendering of all the parts combined, and all that good stuff:

So, what do I do with it now?  How do I get it made into a functional bridge? :P

SC4, forevermore!

Yeah, very "Dusktrooper" looking model. I like it

If you followed the tutorial to make it, simply send me the three pieces. If you are not sure how to cut and LOD them (you shouldnt because it is explained in the tuto   ;D ), send me the model so I'll do this task.

Once we have the rendered separated pieces, the mod will be a piece of cake  ::)

Before you render anything, send me a PM when you are ready and I will tell you which ID should be assigned to this beauty. I dont have access to these data right now.

Any tutorial about the modding part of bridges? I have already read the modelling tutorial.

I want to make a bridge like this.

And of course I'm requesting a set o TGI IDs.

jeronij

There is actually no modding tutorial yet, I am on it, but since you are an inquiring mind  ;) , feel free to open my Old Railroad Bridge mod, and check the exemplar file for the bridge. Most of the properties are selfexplaining  ;D

SC4 Bridges posibilities are quite limited, and all the bridges are composed by three pieces, which must be symetrical. The pieces are start/end piece, repeat piece and support piece. These pieces can be composed with one or more models, ( the models must be cutted into 16 meters lenght pieces, regardless of the dimensions of the pieces ) but for your model you need only three models, one per piece. Unfortunately there is no way to limit the longest span for a bridge in the game, so support pieces are a must.

Once you are ready for the render, send me a PM and I will send you the ID's. If you are not interested in the modding part, simply send me the model ( with the textures) so I can cut and modd it myself  ;)

I basically have all the parts separated and whatever, according to some instructions someone gave me a long time ago.  Now what? :P  How do I get them to you?

You can pack the models with the textures and send them to me for the modding. Just in case some minor adjustements are necessary. Once everything is ok, I will send you all the files for the final render. Btw, which software are you using? GMAX or MAX ?

Btw, about the lamps, do you want them as separated working lights ,or only nightlights ?. Separated props would make them useable for more people / bridges , but is also requires more work  ::)

DuskTrooper

I am using GMAX.  Haven't bothered with 3DS max that much, and I find the whole rendering thing a tad difficult to deal with.

As for the lamps, they're built in; it would probably be easier to make em integrated, like you said.  Besides, they probably would not look optimal out of their element, anyway.

So, if you're ready, just PM me where I can send em. ;)

I must say I really like Dusktrooper's bridge model and am looking forward to use it in the game. of course that depends on DT being willing to release it, and I hope he will.

Hey, if I'm going to show something off like this, of course that means I'm going to have it released. ;)
Still don't know where to host the blasted file....can anyone point me in the right direction?

You should just email Jeroni with the GMAX model files and textures and he'll sort out the rest.  Alternatively if they're too big to email, you could use a hosting facility like Fileden so JR can grab the files from there.

Look forward to seeing this complete, and it's nice to know you still have the touch
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it
