Kevin:  Yes, they do all look the same... but I still need a couple more color schemes to play with.  Camp project?  These are exactly what you suggested.  I'll make stand alone single lots as well as some large CAMelot complexes.

Here's a second color variation of Arbor Woods:

And then this is a preview of the next one.  It's not completely done yet, but the main building is there.  There's also some fine tuning where the building repeats itself because I quite honestly cheated for now just to represent what I'm aiming for.

The idea (HOPEFULLY) is to have these step down a moderate slope.  I'm not entirely sure if this is possible yet because of the foundations.  I'm sure it can be done somehow, but we shall see.  It may need to be broken in two with some tricky LOD work to make it work... I don't really know much about sloped lots yet.  But regardless, there will be something similar to this.

That brings us to three complexes now!  (The first one, Stratton Square, just has two building variations)

Also, to finish Meinhosen's answer... I checked the Grain Elevator out.  I need to do the lighting and adjust a couple things.  So that's where we stand on that one.

Looking forward to these.  You have a knack for doing the things most sorely missing from the game, and this is one of them.  Really like the texturing too.  Great job.

Indeed! I wouldn't know what to do without your schools anymore, it's such a great set. :) The RUSA stuff is developing very well, and I hope that someone who knows something about making buildings slope-friendly will pop in soon.

Chris:  Thanks!  I'm glad you like them.  I guess I just like making the stuff that nobody has bothered with yet.  I prefer to do more historical stuff, but this makes a nice change of pace for now.

Andreas:  I still laugh every time I think about how the school packs started.  All I did was see an old one room school house and thought, "Hey, that would be good for Smalltown."  Then look what happened!   ;D

Many of you know this, but I suffer from a form of BAT ADD that is very similar to Jestarr's.  ::)  ;D  I should have come home from work and finished off the building I just showed.  But Nooooooo... not me!  That would be too easy and make too much sense.  I made another building instead.

No textures yet, but I have them mostly figured out.  It will be almost all siding.  The only brick will be the red wall at the entries.  I still have to finish off the roof trim and add all the little "extras," but this is the bulk of it.

JB

*EDIT:  I spelled Jestarr's name wrong... he would have killed me!  LOL

BAT ADD?

*shakes and scratches head*

Never would have guessed that one... you only have, what is it, eight open BATting projects?  :P

Thanks for the answer on the grain elevator, too.  I didn't know if you had scrapped it when you wrote that list of projects (since you hadn't included it).  However it goes, I'll be eager to see all the great new stuff you have planned once it hits the LEX.  Everything's looking great!
You're telling me I get to be home for more than 12 months?

hmmm if thats the case is their devotions ADD? or is that just addiction?

This is EXACTLY what i have needed since, I dunno, forever?? I would estimate at least 30% of the housing stock in my town are those types of apartments.

and if you do not release these in a timely manner, I will travel up to where you live and beat you with my computer mouse steve seagal style  ?$%kar&%h

Oh boy, I know that feeling.  :D  When I was asking at SimForum if there was someone who could create a small standalone frontend for my SimCity Building Database, I never imagined that this frontend (which was created by simrolle in less than two days) would grow into the thing that is known as SC4Tool these days...

This pack is going to be great.  It all looks awesome so far.  And thanks for the update on the Taft house and the row house pack.  These things I have been wanting for a very long time.  ;)

Meinhosen: Not to worry, the grain elevator is still coming at some point.  I'm a little worried that it may be too big, but we'll see.

Pat:  Yeah... I think that's just an addiction.  You should probably go to a meeting or two.   ;D

Zaphod:  I'm glad you like them!  I should warn you that I have a wireless mouse, so I could just chuck it at your head before you get within beating range.  Just so you know!   :D

Andreas:  Why do we all do this to ourselves?  Maybe we are the ones that should be going to meetings!

Robin:  Thank you!

Nothing new to look at just yet... I added all the extra junk to Pheasant Run and just need to do the lighting.  I'm hoping to finish that and the textures for this newest one tonight.  Although I have to work late all this week, so my time will be a bit limited again for the next few days.  We'll see what happens.

The Taft Building did end up needing a few tweaks to CAMify it... and is being retested now.  The row homes have also been sent out for testing.  Lockwood Arms should be entering that phase rather soon too.  With any luck, I'll start clearing out some of this backlog in the near future!

Strech:  Thanks!  I'm almost starting to feel bad that this stuff has been sitting around for so long... so it's definitely time to fix that problem!

Fledgeling:  Thank-you on both counts!

OK... let's got back to Pheasant Run for a moment.  I finished up the modeling and lighting.  I also made another color scheme just for gits and shiggles.  I'm not sure how I feel about the second colors just yet... it may end up in the junk pile, I don't know.  Keep it or skip it opinions are most welcome... vote now or forever hold your peace (or hold your peace until it's too late and then complain later... whatever you want to do, I'm flexible)  Here's a look:

I also finished modeling and texturing Evergreen Hills.  At this point, let me just say that, yes, I am totally making these names up as I go along.  But did you ever notice how, at least here in the US, all these apartment complexes have some sort of nature inspired name to them?  I think the developers just want to remind everyone of what USED to be there before the bulldozers came! ;)  ;D  But I digress... (what else is new, right?)  I still need to do the lighting for this one, but here is the latest:

So that brings us up to... um... I lost track already.  Time for a list:

Stratton Square - 2 buildings, 3 colors
Arbor Woods - 2 colors
Pheasant Run - 2 colors
Evergreen Hills

OK... that's what it brings us to.  I have two more in mind still... and if I make the mistake of going to Rent.com again, I'll probably find some more!  *sighs*  Here we go again!   $%Grinno$%

These things are looking great. However, I have one question about the last one you showed (Evergreen Hills I think), the gray one with green shutters. Are those sets of doors at the two parts that stick out, and if so, who gets the room above where the window is? I live in an apartment of a somewhat similar design (called The Cape...cape cod style/color creative huh?) and the buildings do have some symmetry there. Perhaps you could split those center windows into two narrower ones and make each of those rooms into half rooms or something (or I could just be making a bunch of extra work for you... I hope that's not the case). I like the green-yellow combination, but the white-dark red seems like it would belong more on a little old victorian house... I would certainly use it though, but I do think of a victorian when I see it. Glad to see these things are coming together so well.

Jason:  Thank-you!  I hope you're doing well... nice to see you again!

Figui:  Thanks!  Glad you like it.

Pat:  Thank-you!  We could always just start joint therapy or something too...  :D

Matt:  (if I may call you Matt)  Splitting the windows wouldn't really be that difficult at all.  The way I envisioned these was that one door leads upstairs and the other enters the first floor apartment.  So the window above is just over that staircase... perhaps a planter ledge or something.  Yeah... I'm still not sure about the red yet either... but you did just give me another idea.

So now I have three more in mind!  LOL

Of course you can call me Matt. Your explanation makes sense. The way I had envisioned it was that each unit was a 2-story. However, I do have another question (or comment...whatever it is): in regard to the placement of each chimney... it seems that there are four units, but only three chimnies (or eight units if there are doors on the back side too) and from what I've seen, apartments are largely designed to be fairly modular... something seems off with the positioning/number. There is something I'm curious to know, if I may ask, regarding your textures (I've been fiddling with the BAT myself and am looking for tips)... do you find a texture in each of those colors or do you use a generic texture and alter it with the BAT? Hope that made sense. I'll be curious to know what idea I've produced, I'll be waiting for the next update.

JBSimio

Matt:  You're absolutely right about the chimneys and I still need to change them.  (There are doors on the back as well, by the way)  It was just getting late, to be honest.  :D  In regards to the textures, some of it depends largely on the material (brick, siding, paint, etc) but I don't actually do much altering in BAT other than size.  I hear there are ways to alter colors within BAT, but I never really learned that way, and now I'm just used to my way of doing it.  The flip side to that is I do have some generic textures that I just shade and tint in PhotoFiltre and then save... eventually I end up with a LOT of different colors to play with.  Does that help somewhat?  Anything I can help with, just let me know!

OK... this isn't the new idea just yet, but I modeled yet another building.  I have to say that this is probably my least favorite building style of all time, but I couldn't leave it out just because I hate it.  It's practically a requirement for the time period... so here you go:

I'm not sure about the slope on the upper half of the roof yet... it may be a little too steep.  I'm still mulling that over.  I also need to do the porch and all the other little stuff.

Still interested in votes on the red trim color scheme from the last page...

JB
