Congratulations EJC - the pictures in your last update are a perfect explanation for winning this award. Man , those pictures rock - they are so real, the area actually looks like that!!!!

Well done ejc.  A highly deserved award.

I think your MD is different from many others in that you are capturing and recreating a real life area.  I've visited Dusseldorf and Moenchengladbach a few times, so I feel I understand a little of this region and you capture it so well.

In the last update I really like the way you've put the football pitches at the edge of residential areas.  I can just imagine the noise and the action on a Sunday morning.

Congrats and I look forward to more from the Ruhrgebiet.

Wow! What a nomination.. I'm not that long active at Simcity Devotion, and allready I'm given this award! Great!!! In order to celebrate this with you all, I want to give you a larger update as you are used to of me.. So quit the talking and bring in the pics;

Overview of the area that is included this update..

Diagonal all the way!!

Old school building in a dense neighbourhood near the center

Some office-buildings on the arteries towards city center

Housing near the highway that crosses right through the city..

Overview from the north with on forground the CBD of "Essen"

Following the highway (Ruhrschnellweg) to the west we'll see the trades-building

Highway A52 on the south of the city towards "Düsseldorf"

Trains passing by and moving into "Essen HBF", the main station of the city

And last; the overview again but from another angle..

Well, again; thanks for all the support and stay tuned for another update...

This has to be one of the best European cities I've seen, so the award is well deserved. You inspire me with the 'diagonal all the way' but I must ask: where did you find that diagonal white building with curved edges I see in different pics?

btw thanks for the pic with the 'modern euro housing' from the stex. I've dowloaded them as well but never saw them grow, so now I know they do work :)

Well.......very interesting use of diagonal roads and the way you have placed the diagonal lots.    You must have a lot of patience to place everything so nicely.
The city looks very good over all and I can't really think of anything to complain about.  It's not really my style, but, hey, this is not my MD, it's yours.  The use of diagonal puzzle peices, the ramps, doesn't look so good, but it is what you have to work with.
I really like the first, sixth and last pictures.  The zoom that you choose to use in these cases shows off your city very well.
Now two things caught my eye.  First was the train station in pictures five and six, if you could tell me where you found it, I would appreciate it.  It looks huge, I like big train stations.  Second, the bridge in picture seven, if you would help with that one as well.  I don't think I have seen that one before.

Wonderful pictures of that great looking part of that city!

Another great update there ejc.  You manage to cram so much into the space.  There really seems little room left, like many busy European cities.

jayo

Wow!!Great update-I love the highway and the way it snakes though the centre of the city :D

Another magnificent update here, ejc! Your diagonals look amazing! Keep up the good work, my friend!

ESSEN CBD

Well, back again with a nice update I think. We'll take a closer look to the newer parts of "Essen". Close to the main train-station and highway errected some nice high-rises. Something like "La Defense" in "Paris". Those towers look pretty nice in reallife as you enter the city by "Ruhrschnellweg"

Overview on the area, doesn't look German does it with all those highrises?? Well, it's really all there in reallife!!

Another total-shot, with in foreground the main-station that's between old & new city-center

A view on the southern suburbs of Essen

Close up-shot of the (round) RWE-turm and park in front of it.

A nice shot looking towards old town, this will be closed-up in the next update....

I couldn't agree more with what's posted above. A very nice update indeed, with the fourth pic being my favourite. That's a picture you can take in so many European cities, the group of hi-rise buildings is just perfect

but if I were you, I would get rid of the maxis bus stops as soon as possible :)

Great update there ejc.

I particularly like the way the central station is raised up, with the rail tracks going over the road outside of the station.
