That is a great looking estate, and the newest development with cheaper housing is a nice addition to Cedar.

kwakelaar: Thanks! Yes, with all the factory hands coming into the city, they need housing that is relatively cheap. Given how they filled up so quick, I am sure more of those type of housing will be available soon.
dedgren: Wow, thanks for the kind words! It is an honour to have a Sim City legend such as yourself comment here :) Development will probably begin expanding south of central Cedar, as the demand for housing continues to hold steady.
planetechef: Well if it looks like the French countryside, I must be doing something right because it is just gorgeous there! Thank you for commenting.
art128: Definitely, the Nesara Council is planning to release land for sale to the general public to the immediate south of central Cedar, alongside Intersection Street in hopes of promoting more commercial activity in the town. It is rumored that Kimberly Korra will be opening her first showroom somewhere in the area :) The Nesara Council is also very pleased that the President likes his new holiday home!
Yan077: Hehe, coming from someone who is so talented when it comes to developing land and focusing on the details, that means alot. Your MD is legendary!
Battlecat: Cedar will probably be a combination of grids and freelance development - atleast thats how the Nesara Council envisions it! Thank you for stopping by :)
RickD: The President has 24 hour security provided by the Nesara Council as well as his own personal security - not only that, but the little street that leads to his house is strictly off-limits to the public :) Thanks for commenting!
canyonjumper: Thank you, and thanks for commenting :)
ecoba: I got your message, and I will be trying to get your house to grow just a bit west of Cedar :) The development taking place in Cedar is really starting to take off as more people know about the regulations (or lack thereof) set by the Nesara Council, and the benefits of opening up a business there. Thank you for your kind words :)
penguin007: First off, congratulations on your OSITM! You truly deserve it! The reason the development is shifting alongside the tracks is that the council had paved the road north in hopes of building a future passenger train station somewhere in the area, although that plan is as of yet, not confirmed.
danielcote: Certainly, and the next development phase will be to the south of central Cedar as the planned expansion of Intersection Street gets underway :)

Still on my business trip, and still extremely busy, although I should have an update up in the next couple (few) days time permitting. In the meantime, here is another before and now shot of Cedar. Enjoy!

So not really an update, but I have been working on Cedar, and these are the results so far. As you can see, further development has taken place in the north-western part of town, but most notably, the Nesara Property Authority released land for sale to the south of downtown Cedar, and further release of land is expected to the south-west and south-east as well. There has also been some acquisition of lands by businesses hoping to open up factories in Cedar, already under construction as well. Finally, a passenger train station is nearing completion, of which we will take a closer look at in the update to come. Enjoy, and please leave your comments and suggestions!

I like how, instead of growing your town on blank terrain, it's surrounded and nestled by thick forest. This'll be interesting to watch in future updates, keep up the good work!

Nice update there, Nedal ! It's great to see the south part of Nesera finally urbanized !

I can see a second train station at the north, this means more developments to come there ?  ;)

Nice progress as usual. Cedar looks better and better with each update. The development is very controlled and realistic but also very pleasing to the eye and somewhat interesting too.

Great work  &apls

Battlecat

You're doing a fantastic job of controlling the style of development in your town here!  The latest changes are very appealing!

The State of Nesara: Update Twenty

Population: 9,582

On a recent trip to the Pacific Northwest, I had the privilege of spending a night in the town of Cedar, capital of the state-country that is Nesara. Although its population is just about 10,000, the bustle, activity, and energy found in this town was the first thing that caught me, and I am not only referring to the daytime movement of traders and businessmen, but also of the night-time buzz found so evidently in Cedar's center.

Original founded by James Brook after an agreement with the government granted his movement the right to live tax-free, Cedar initially was no more than a small settlement of retirees and Nesara Council, the entity that governs the area, employees. Since then, it has become home for all types of residents, including prominent businessmen who are finding their millions stationed in Cedar.

The origins of Cedar.

Nestled in between thick forest all around, there is plenty to do in town and its surrounding area, especially if you cherish time in the outdoors and nature. An hour or so drive west will get you to the Pacific, where pristine and untouched coasts stretch as far as the eye can see both to the north and south. Although generally too cold to swim in, if you do visit Nesara between the months of July to early September, the water temperature will be just right enough for a dip in the ocean and a day sunbathing on the white sands of area's beaches. The Nesara Council recently opened Gateway Beach to the masses, the first public beach with basic facilities the council has opened. It is by no means against any laws to visit whichever part of the coastline you see fit, but Gateway Beach, with its safety guards, parking area, and small fast food carts will serve you well if you do not feel like disconnecting from civilization too much.

Gateway Beach.

A short drive south will have you arrive at the Ravine River, a flowing body of water surrounded by lush greenery of both sides and has recently started taking a reputation as a fisherman's paradise. Although there is no paved road heading that far north from Cedar, a dirt track paved up by a recent expedition can easily be driven on by a 4x4 or SUV truck. Be advised, however; unlike Gateway Beach, there are no facilities or amnesties available anywhere along the Ravine River, so make the trip prepared and stocked. Once there, however, be ready to enjoy a calm, relaxing day, whether it be fishing or just sitting by the river taking nature at its finest.

Cedar has deservedly earned a reputation as town of growing economic opportunity, as witnessed by the continuous construction of factories and warehouses in the northern part of town, but there much more to it than just that. The first thing that will strike is the general friendliness of the place; locals are proud of their new home and will go the extra mile to make sure all their visitors feel at home, as well. While the town continues to grow at an fast rate, the heartbeat of Cedar remains Country Road, regardless of whether you are out for some shopping or want a night out in the town.

Although lacking in any real hotels and motels, Cedar features a couple of cozy inns that will do just fine for those looking to spend a couple of nights. The Bistro features a restaurant on the ground floor, with a few rooms above it, while Burgundy Bar & Inn is exactly what its name suggests. Both are situated on Country Road, and regardless of which place you decide to stay, it will set you back about $50 a night.

The numerous pubs and small restaurants in town are too many to list - a stroll down Country Road, however, will have you walking by almost all of them. In terms of shopping, the lack of large retail outlets should not deter you from an otherwise pleasant shopping experience in Cedar. Again, a stroll down Country Road will show you all that Cedar has to offer in that field, with several local businesses selling products such as antiques, groceries, garments, etc.

Central Cedar.

While Cedar might be your typical small town in terms of facilities and points of interest, the people of the area make it so much more. The energy felt upon entering the town is strong, and it is hard not to get caught up into it. Even the President of the nation of Svanskinahya bought himself a vacation home outside of Cedar! The growth rate being experienced in Nesara will ensure that this small town is going to become a city soon, but it is doubtful it will lose any of its charm.

Love it.
I can't really think of anything else to say any more.  Your approach to MDing is a breath of fresh air for sure.  To actually show us a city growing, and not just it's over all size but the buildings and consturction, I find it very eye catching.

Really interesting update, my friend. You definitely present Cedar as a great place to visit, and I know it is!  :) Hope to see a new update soon, you've really got a good MD here.
