Great work with the various aspect of the industrial zone. The mosaic is splendid.
I'll take a quiet life... A handshake of carbon monoxide.

Did you remove the Base Texture on your Paengs Parks? Looks different

belfastsocrates

Really fantastic work, the final mosaic is superb.

I like the former factory site as well, that's a nice touch and I don't think I've seen that before.

Oh dear. Dude, you're producing a lot of amazing pictures so detailed and in such quantity that is just impossible to fit them in mind and analyze. You'd better slow down a bit :D

The most what I like, it's the former ketchup factory. For the mmp-ing made to create a wasteland and for its story :D
Thank you for visiting Kolbrów, and for being for last ten years!

Agreed, it looks amazing, i love his Grass Textures when he makes Flora Lots, maybe he could share them, i dont have any.

feyss: Thank you very much!

JoelST: Thank you!

MAS71: Agreed! SC4 has changed so very, very much.

art128: Thanks. The ruined areas and the lumber scene was something new for me, but I figured I had to do something to break up the industrial areas.

Mikey Knox: I use the Sudden Valley terrain mod and selected the replace base textures option. Additionally I downloaded mdg204's Terrain Grass NAM - Euro Textures Version mod. This replaces more base textures. As for those grass textures, well that is actually MMP work. So I have no files to share, and I never will because I do not use the Lot Editor.

belfastsocrates: I'm certain someone here or elsewhere has created an abandoned, levelled factory site. Still it was hard work getting the garbage MMPs right.

Gugu3: Cheers!

kbieniu7: Thank you, I'm glad someone picked up on the Simpsons joke about Monty Burns and his confusion over ketchup and catsup.

Entry 26: Downtown in Annuq

Today I will show to you Annuq's downtown which comprises W2W blocks plus masses of concrete, steel and glass.

For this Monday there will be an entry featuring Annuq's city centre.

Entry 27: Annuq's city centre (east)

It's time for CBDs and all of that stuff. So here goes.

{---}

Technically Annuq's city centre is somewhere in the city tile to the south- which is where the highway going to the right leads. But for this city tile here is the city "centre".

And the area featured today.

Let's zoom in on some of the important transit buildings.

Stoffley Station. Stoffley is a town which was cobbled up by Annuq, everything to the right of the railway track is Stoffley.

The market stalls are out in force on Teppers Street.

The Balrourk Shopping mall is the imposing building in the picture's centre, it is perfectly positioned given how close it is to Stoffley Station.

As an added bonus the Balrourk shopping mall has a reasonably large bus terminus with numerous entrances to the subways below.

The Gaumont Showcase Complex. Annuq's most popular cinema.

NYBT W2W tower blocks are too beautiful.

Sadly I have not found a satisfactory way of removing Maxis palm trees, so I resort to pausing the game and clicking the streets with the road tool to return the palms to their small state.

Not all areas of the city centre are gleaming, as always T Wrecks industrial car parks bring the concrete jungle to life.

This is probably my favourite area of the city centre. It's got to be something about the petrol station, church, construction site, avenue and square W2W block all coming together.

The turquoise windowed skyscraper is Monty Quincy's Tower. Born in Annuq, Monty Quincy is the cities richest billionaire with an international business empire stretching from pharmaceuticals, agriculture and telecommunications.

All of these skyscrapers and office blocks need so much parking. Most of the car parks are underground, a few though poke above the subterranean layers.

N-Tertain; a large multimedia company which dispenses services in TV, film, radio and advertisements.

Moving much closer to the centre...

When I was building the city centre I tried to make great use of the available mid-rise buildings- really large, chunky, wide, fat ones.

KeyBank- one of the region's most popular banks. With it's motto "greed is good" it is little wonder it provides many hundreds of billions of credit which pours into the redhot housing markets, construction industries and automobile financing.

The Rockefeller Centre, because in any world, real or SC4, this building looks so cool.

One last overview of the east of the city centre.

{---}

A preview of the agricultural areas in Annuq.

{---}

This Friday we travel to Stokesley- one of the suburbs of Annuq.

To be really honest I'm a bit lazy and sometimes there are things in RL which can really put me off posting CJ/MD entries. Sometimes I post updates back-to-back so on both sites the entries are up-to-date within a day of each other. However I have plans of mixing new entries up across the sites and also posting more exclusive entries to SC4D.

compdude787: Thanks for the comment, as for your question- well I've been a bit lazy.

Unconstantean: Thanks! The farm areas will be a Christmas present.

Tyberius06: Thanks, and here is the link for that bus terminal- http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/29110-paengs-regional-bus-terminal/.

Entry 28: Stoffley

1.

Part of Stoffley, a town which has been gobbled up by Annuq.

2.

The northwest part of Stoffley has various ponds and sports fields.

3.

Loving the street curves and curved intersections.

4.

Burkley Pond.

5.

6.

The greenhouse was once part of an allotment which got levelled to make way for shops and parking. One owner of the allotment land didn't sell up, a few years and a few court cases later and this anamoly remain standing.

7.

Stoffley is also an industrial town to.

8.

9.

Petrol stations and shopping malls.

10.

To the right is Greffer's Pond.

11.

12.

Car parks and loading bays.

13.

Some lots have street-sized sections which perfectly align to the draggable streets. It takes some trickery, involving creating truncated intersections, to create these faux intersections.

14.

Flounder's Roundabout.

15.

16.

W2W low-rise commercial, one of my favourite things to create in SC4.

17.

Stoffley District Hospital.

18.

The Stoffley District Hospital serves the needs of 300000 residents.

19.

20.

Just north of Stoffley District Hospital is Tarrey's Park.

21.

It's all about the car-parking.

22.

23.

24.

The railway line divides Stoffley from Annuq's city centre.

25.

Stoffley Station. The main part of the structure and its premises lies inside Stoffley.

26.

Good railway placement 101- really, really make them cut through a city.

{---}

And for this Monday-

The west half of Annuq's city centre.

{---}

And here is a preview of a special project I am working on.

So I was figuring out how to make the sides of the dam look good.

Then it struck me- add in MMP rocks and boulders.

A closer-up inspection of the MMP work.

{---}

This dam is intended to be done just before the new year- a new year's present if you will.

compdude787

Nice update! Can't wait to see what the dam will end up looking like!

Well, that's a... dozens of magnificient pictures! I love how the railroad and avenues goes trough the city with curves and diagonal and FAR sections! Theese are my favourite shots:

http://imageshack.com/a/img911/9284/nnrCm3.jpg

They looks so realistic, from the further distance!

I see the dam. Seems to be a made of concrete, so filling the edges with rocks is indeed the best way to hide them.
What do you plan to put on that "shelf" below? A power plant? I would move it a bit closer to the dam, the culvert seems to be a bit too long, than i's needed. Do you plan to make a spillway over there?
I'm asking, cause I'm really interested in dams (that was a part of my studies ;) ) both in RL and SC and hope you will make a nice one! :)
Thank you for visiting Kolbrów, and for being for last ten years!

c.p.

Very realistic looking city.  It has the look of a lot of older U.S. industrial cities that were once very prosperous but are now struggling a bit.  There's a lot to like, but I especially like the industrial areas.

compdude787: Thank you!

Gugu3: And you will see it, before the New Year.

kbieniu7: Thanks a lot for your comment. As for your questions about the dam, well it is a hydroelectric dam and that culvert is where the power generators are- below in the raised up mound. The turbines are below the level of the water downstream of the dam, thus the water comes rushing down and hits the turbines at full speed. A bit further downstream is a series of substations and electricity pylons.

c.p.: Thank you very much! That is the look I was going for in Annuq.

Part of the Faverdale Bypass. This road runs on top of the dam and upstream along the Faverdale Valley.

I will have this city tile done just before New Year. Expect lots of farmland, hiking routes and other interesting features.

Some amazing city building - I really love that curved el-highway. But all of the details in the city-scape are just brilliant!!!!  &apls

vortext

Just spend a good half hour going over the recent updates and I honestly don't know how to describe the sheer awesomeness! Or to put it in other words, I'm in awe! &apls &apls

As for the pesky palms; have you tried this mod yet? Alternatively, c.p. has made palm replacements, here and here.

The dam and scree slope are impressive, too, looking forward to see it complete.
