First of all - I have to say that I love how your updates are sponsored by the Donkey Kong Country $%Grinno$%

Now that we have that off our way, I can say that this particular update is definitely in my Top 20 ;D I don't know why... Maybe it's because of that Mrs. Monkey in make-up... Oh, and it's always nice to see KFC in MD. They're really everywhere! :P I don't have any complaints on the planning nor the choice of buildings. Everything seems to be just allright.

Oh, and the latest picture? I won't go bananas, I promise. :D I just can't wait for more...

Keep up the great work :)
Piotr

A bad day for some poor gorilla...

I missed the news on that one.  It's great news, though, that you've reached 600 posts here.

Ooh ooh ahh ahh, Bruce.

Floating by Banana River

Time to float lazily along the Banana River. It is a bit chilly outside, so make sure you don't jump overboard. We keep a supply of inflatable yellow banana-shaped floaties on board just in case you do.

Anywho, let's examine the nice suburban town of Primate Point and enjoy a day along the Banana River. Before we begin, Monkey Island would like to thank its corporate sponsors for their generous support:

Monkey see, monkey read

The train whistles don't go "wooo wooooooooo!" They go "ooooh oooooooooh!"

Colorful trees along Banana River Road

Any guesses as to why the kids at Chimptown Elementary are so hyper?

Monkeys love living so close to the river.

This neighborhood was featured in the recent edition of Modern macaque Magazine.

Wanna go swing from some trees?

Perhaps you would rather cross the river on a sure-footed giraffe? It'll keep ya dry!

Monkeys have really comfortable life here! ;D
And I love the giraffe race

Btw I saw your tuorial in ST Omnibus section: "The roadless city". Very useful, and the idea of using Jeronij's rural walls as pedestrian roads is really creative! &apls

Sciurus    Merci beaucoup! Et, bienvenue a Monkey Island.

bat   Thanks for coming by. I appreciate your ongoing loyal support.

Pat   Thank you! I hope you enjoyed this banana crème laced edition.

sheep49   Thanks! Glad to see you back again – and even more glad you enjoyed the update. I was having some fun with suburban stuff and am pleased you liked how it turned out.

dedgren   David, I saw that one when I took it and put it in, wondering if anyone would spot it. You have an eagle eye! Thanks for noticing MI's milestone. There are actually 2 other milestones: the most recent update is #40 and this is reply set #50.

nova vesfalo   lol! Oh no! Don't go bananas! The new update is now available!

Pat   Thanks! I am always pleased to have you come by MI. You have been a longtime and loyal supporter.

bat   Thanks! I have not really done much with rail, so I have made an effort to play with it some more lately. I am glad you like how it turned out.

Sciurus   Thanks for asking. I picked monkeys because the Jr. Schulmanator's nickname is "Monkey Boy" and he has a staff of stuffed monkeys in his bedroom to tend to his every whim. He is a big fan of Curious George, who is king of the island.

LE0   Good question. They are on the LEX right here at SC4D. They are by MattB325.

Ennedi   Always a pleasure to have you swing by Monkey Island. I am glad you liked the tutorial. It is how I do a lot of the roadless areas in Schulmania, which does not have cars. I was going to keep it as my "trade secret" but decided to try and share the concept to get more people to try roadless areas out. If only I could get residential to grow without roads, life would be perfect!

The George Awards

Monkey Island would like to celebrate its 40th update with a special set of awards. Hollywood has the Oscars, but who watches THAT show? There's the Grammy, the Tony, the Golden Globe... but none of these – none- has the awesome vine-swinging attraction of the George. King C. George III, himself, gives out these awards at a special event in the Monkey Island Capitol. Let's see who he has selected this year.

Your host, Bobo.

The first award goes to a long time supporter of Monkey Island. His regular visits have earned him a visa to enter the country and stay as long as he likes. He has been a force for good in Monkey Island and has been an inspiration to many Monkey Island citizens.

The award goes to...

BAT
Congratulations, sir!

The next award goes to a loyal Monkey Island regular. He can always be counted on for good cheer and a hearty "ooh ooh aah aah" during every visit. He is a friend of Grape Ape and has often gone riding with him in his 40ft custom Ferrari down the highway.

The award goes to...

PAT
Congratulations, sir!

This award goes to another long time Monkey island supporter. This MI fan introduced the most popular beverage in the island. Nine out of ten monkeys now prefer freshly brewed Monkey Picked Tea for any occasion.

The award goes to...

THE TEA CAT
Congratulations, sir!

The next award goes to a longtime friend of Monkey Island. Her support of simian causes makes her one of the most popular public figures in Monkey Island. She has many celebrity friends in Monkey Island, including Prince Kong and King C. George III, himself.

The award goes to...

JMOUSE
Congratulations, ma'am!

The next award goes to one of Monkey Island's longtime allies. He has been there from the beginning, providing support and encouragement to every monkey. He is someone everyone can truly count on.

The award goes to...

THUNDERCRACK83
Congratulations, sir!

This award is for a friend of Monkey Island. He has been to MI many times since its inception two years ago. He has earned many bananas and better yet, earned the adoration of citizens all across Monkey Island.

The award goes to...

ENNEDI

This award recognizes another longtime supporter and friend of Monkey Island. He has many admirers amongst the citizens and is a friend of King C. George III.

The award goes to...

WARCONSTRUCT
Congratulations, sir!

The next award is for a dedicated supporter of Monkey Island. He first visited the MI town of Springfield and was intrigued. He stuck around since then and has made himself a valued member of the Monkey Island community.

The award goes to...

SIMPSON
Congratulations, sir!

This award is for a relative newcomer to Monkey Island. But, in the time he has been here, he has made himself into a valued and respected citizen. Three cheers for this winner!

The award goes to...

ART128
Congratulations, sir!

This award is for another relative newcomer to Monkey Island. He has been an inspiration to monkeys everywhere and is widely regarded as a true Monkey Island patriot.

The award goes to...

SHEEP49
Congratulations, sir!

Another newcomer is set to be recognized. This new friend to Monkey Island has not been by often, but he has posted some of the funniest replies King C. George III has seen. So, in recognition of his humor, the king issues this recognition.

The award goes to...

PAPAB2000
Congratulations, sir!

Making The Georges...

The George Awards are a big deal in Monkey Island. There are teams of workers who create them from the finest materials available. Large industrial facilities churn them out for deserving Monkey Island denizens. And, despite the apparent mass production, each is still a treasured work of art. Let's see how they make them.

The award components arrive by rail at Inquisitive Jörg's Materials Processing Center for inspection

Then, the precious metals go to Kong's Smelting Plant to be purified

Ingots are them shipped to the Mario Brothers Foundry to be cast

On Banana Bunch Boulevard, expert carvers create the base from hand selected fine woods

Meanwhile, a special polish is developed at Australopithecus Industries to keep the awards shiny

The parts are assembled at Yellow Hat Machine Shop

To make the awards extra appealing, they go to Donkey Kong Agro-Industrial, Inc. to be dipped in artificial banana flavor, making the award utterly irresistible

Everyone is excited... even King C. George III, himself is in on the fun!
