Wow love that Hurst building, as has been said it has so much character. I also mourn (  :'( ) the advent of glass and steel buildings. A city has to have some character to it! :)

Bluebeard:  Thank you as always for your kind words!

Existenz:  Thanks!  I'm glad you like it!

Duane:  Thank you! "Not so Stearns Building"...  :D

Derry:  Thanks!  The wait for this one shouldn't be too terribly long (for once)  ::)

I made the adjustments that I mentioned last night... or this morning, whenever it was... and then decided to just hit the export button and get this road on the show.  It sits on a 2x3 lot and has CO$$ grow and plop versions.  The growable is stage 6 so no CAM will be needed... but it is of course CAMpatible.  Here are the ingame pictures:

I've uploaded this for testing already, so give it a week or so and it should be ready.

Looks very nice indeed, reminds me of what was once called Real Estate Row in St Louis

Most of which has now been lost

Hogmeister:  Thank you!  That looks like any number of American cities around the teens or 1920's.  It's a shame so little of that still exists.  The buildings in the foreground and also the back right side look particularly interesting.

Continuing with my clean up lost and forgotten things, I believe I posted a preview of this next one at some point, and then kind of ignored it for a while.  So I decided to spend a little more time with it this afternoon and finish it up.

Just another filler building for the SmalltownUSA series... Kitty's Klothes (unless something better comes to mind)  I need to turn the lights up again... not sure why I keep doing that lately.  ::)  That's about all there is to say for this one...

Hey, JB.

It has been quite some time since I've posted in your thread.  Nonetheless, as I have been able, I have kept up by reading yours and others posts in it.

You never cease to amaze me with the depth and breadth of your talent in BATting.  You know how I feel about your Smalltown USA series.  I cannot praise them and their amazing beauty and usefulness enough.  I also have enjoyed your SHUR project, am very much looking forward to the release of your University pack as well as continue to be interested in your other projects.

I envy you in your ability to BAT and believe you to be one of the premier BATter in the SimCity community.  Thank you for sharing that talent with us and giving us such beautiful creations to use in our cities.

Regards,

Gary

Ooo, more Small Town USA buildings ;D I have a city that has an entire downtown area that is nothing but your buildings (and one SG restraunt). I have the perfect spot to place this one in the city too.

A quick question about your windows, what do you set the transparency at? I've been trying to do some seethru windows like you have, but just can't make them look as real.

Gary:  Thank you so much!  It's always nice to hear from you and I appreciate your kind words.  You truly flatter me, but I suppose it would do me little good to argue with you either.  I hope you're doing well.  Lurk as much as you like, but please say hi from time to time (with or without making me all embarrassed!) ;)

Pat:  Thank you!  I'll try to export Kitty's before I leave for work tomorrow.

XiahouDun:  I'm glad to hear this series still has such a following... thanks!  For the windows, I usually set the opacity between 70-80 depending on that particular glass texture.  For what it's worth, I usually set Specular Level around 50 and Glossiness around 25.  It all depends on the texture of the glass and also the floor behind it.

Derry:  Little gems are always good... makes me feel like I actually accomplish something now and then!   :D

Duane:  Thanks!

One more from the cellar... I had started this a L - O - N - G time ago and just never really came back to it.  I've thought about reviving it several times, but never did.  Looking at it today, I realized that it was probably because I knew I'd have to start over from scratch.  Which is exactly what I did.  This is a very early preview, but the sides and back will probably go fairly quick.  This is the Brooks Building:

I've always wanted to get this one in the game because of the proportions.  It's 12 stories (maybe not much to some people... but in terms of my buildings that's pretty tall!  :D ) but should fit on a 1x3 or 1x4 lot.  I like the narrow street elevation combined with the height and depth.  Anyway, that's just my rambling thoughts.  Either way, I promise to finish it this time!  I kind of needed a break from the huge "projects" anyway... so a few single buildings are a nice refresher for me. ;)

Well, the Brooks Building looks splendid so far, my friend! I can't wait to see more progress on it!

Take care!

Dustin

Shadow Assassin

1x3 would be best for it, since all buildings of that height in-game are generally on _x2 or _x3 lots.

Dustin:  Thank you!  Here's a little more progress for you... ;)

SA:  Well now that I have the side walls in place, I can comfortably tell you that it will in fact fit on a 1x3... there won't be much room left, but that's what it will be.

XiahouDun:  You're very welcome.  Let me know if I can help as things progress.

I got a little bit more done with this one.  The sides went pretty fast as it was just a matter of fitting things together and then using that nifty array tool to go up the levels.  Here is a look:

The bare walls on the first floor will not stay that way.  I just ran out of time to do anything with them just yet.  Oddly enough, the real building (in Jackson, MI) is just bare brick on one side for the first 3-5 stories where there used to be another building.  It's rather dingy looking and you can still see where the steps and such were in some places.  This one also reminds me a lot of Jasoncw's Vinton Building which is in Detroit.  The texturing will be quite different, so I'm not too concerned... just something I noticed.

Anyway... I have to go feed some children...

I envy your skill with the BAT and wish I could do such similar things. The Brooks building looks fab so far
and is just the type of thing I need more of  ;D

I can understand this completely, sometimes its best to put the "huge" projects aside for a week or two and do something different,
Good for the mind and us too :D :D  ( as we get new stuff ;D ;D)

looking forwad to how this great building all comes together ;)
