*whistles* well that there would have to be the most realistic overpass I have ever seen! And are those signs ploppable, 3RR-style? I don't see any sidewalks...  ;)

Oh, and, if I were Lt. Haskins I'd be a little worried about the right rear door of my cruiser...  :D

Very cool  ;) Looks like that cop not only got a speeder but is parked in a pole!  :D

I seen a overpass sign pack posted on the STEX last week.  ;)

Ryan, welcome back to the realm of MDing!  A nice little update here . . . you really are the master of signage placement--using that offset to place those signs on the NAM Road puzzle pieces is brilliant!  Looks like you're having fun with the RHW Alpha, too--I can't wait to see what all you do with it.  And I'm glad to see Lt. Haskins catch the scofflaw, too. ;)

Welcome back neighbouring county! The overpass and signage used are unique.

I wonder though why the Lake Ontario Shore Parkway has no sign directing to Nieuw Rhenen  :P

Orleans County, New York
November 9, 2008 Update | New RHW, New Ontario Shore

Folks, I'm not gonna lie.  It's great to be able to get back to Orleans County!  I'm very happy to see so many people come back and reply once again!  Before I get to the update, I will reply to you, the faithful denizens whom read:

Ryan / Haljackey:  It's great to be back.  Thanks for replying!

deathtopumpkins:  Thanks!  To answer your questions:  1)  No, those aren't 3RR-style ploppable.  2)  I wouldn't worry about Lt. Haskins' cruiser.  He's got a pretty darn near invincible cruiser.

papab2000:  I'm glad you liked my teaser!  I make my own signs so that I can completely control the quality.

Alex / Tarkus:  Good to see you back!  I'm putting the RHW alpha through its paces, for sure; and I can't wait until it's available for everyone so that all can enjoy it!  I think you'll enjoy this update.  ;)

sebes:  Nieuw Rhenen will be a control city on a big green sign a little bit further east!

Pat:  Welcome back!  More is definitely around the corner!  (Literally.)

And now, the update, entitled "New RHW, New Ontario Shore" :D

Well, when one gets new tools, one wants to play with them.  ;)  So, once again, I've pulled a 'mulligan' on Ontario Shore.  Yeah, I can hear the voices in my head clamor for me to decide how I want it to look already . . . . . but I don't listen to them.  :P  I think it's better that way.

At the time of the picture, Ontario Shore is a burgeoning community of almost 20,000.  The city is growing at a rapid clip, and the use of the Lake Ontario State Parkway signals that several capital projects to increase capacity may be looming in the very near future.  Enough of me talking - I'll show you what I mean:

Photos move from west to east.

Traffic exiting the Parkway's westbound lanes at Murdock Road.

Eastbound traffic at the White Birch / Lake Shore interchange . . . . which is a real can of worms.

http://img374.imageshack.us/img374/9336/mistrumpetio8.jpg  < Here's a link to that entire interchange.  WARNING:  LARGE MOSAIC.

More worms.

Here's the Parkway at Gateway Street.  This is one of the areas slated for improvement.

A closer look at the Gateway interchange.  Gateway Street is beginning to jam.  The signal cycles are too short, causing long lines that stretch onto both White Birch and Lake Shore.  This street will be improved as well.

And now, for some random shots around the city:

Ontario Shore's first residential highrise - the Oak Orchard Apartments, located at the corner of Oak Orchard River Road and Foss Road.

That about does it for this update.  Next time, we'll follow the DOT around and see whether we can get this Parkway signed.  Thanks for reading, and I look forward to hearing from everyone!

Tarkus

Ryan, fantastic update here!  I can see you're having a lot of fun with the RHW Version 3.0 and NWM alphas there--that White Birch/Lake Shore interchange is very creative--and that TLA-3 you've built there fits in very nicely.  You're always cooking up creative transportation systems, which are fun to look at.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you end up doing with the Gateway Street interchange and the signage. ;)

Nice interchanges!

Oh i itch for version 3.0 and the NWM...

And that Gateway interchange is very interesting... The city's coming along nicely too.

Hey, Ryan!

Forgive me absence here, my friend--it's inexcusable, and I apologize!

You've got some great stuff going on here, I have to say! As always, your work with the RHW is fantastic, and your neighborhoods look wonderful, too!

Keep up the great work, my friend! I'll be coming back to see what you've got next!

More custom content can't hurt. Good MD  &apls. Also terrain and water mods can't hurt too. ()testing() Well unless you crash that is.

I'm gonna have a small laugh at y'all's expense.  Here's a teaser:

;)

:D

OK, I'm done.  More to come very soon!

thundercrack83

Laugh away, Ryan!

That picture's enough to satisfy me. Heck, that sign alone is enough to satisfy me, my friend!

Excellent job!

OK, I still want to know how on earth you got that sign there without a sidewalk... Is it overhanging by like 3 tiles or something?  ???
That looks great though...

Not bad! Particularly the mosaic... I'd like to see what comes of this entrance ramp with the sign.
My days here are numbered. It's been great and I've had a lot of fun, but I've moved on to bigger and better things.

Ryan B.

Pat, you were talkin about 'curves in roads' . . . . . well, I'm back for another round of incessant teasing.  ;)  :D

There are definitely some curves in the road for Ontario Shore's Sims in the near future . . . . re-construction work has begun on the Lake Ontario State Parkway / Gateway Street interchange.  The overpass has been demolished, and reduced speed limits are up along the way:

A bigger update comes after the jump . . .

Jump . . . to what?

Let's find out, shall we?
