Teaser 3: More A1 Construction

Due too the highway construction and the new limits on Residential development along it, many, if not all, house owners are now selling their houses at bargain prices to large stores, which are now being build near the new highway, alongside one of the two Parallel Roads (PR 1 and PR 2). These parallel roads, that were built before the actual highway construction, and lay just alongside the construction area, are now heavily congested due to the enormous amount of traffic that can't use their old overpasses anymore, and have to deviate their routes along the PR Roads, which will then ultimately connect at the place where groundbreaking is not started yet, and thus lead to the other side. On the spot featured in the previous teaser, laying out the highway had been started, and it was decided to use a a 8-lane setup in the end, but a very problematic issue soon arose, the space that was demolished for the highway to be laid was too tight, and the council was questioned as to demolish more or use a 4-lane highway. What do you think? Vote now!

Nice three teasers there, casper!
And I also think a 4-lane highway is better... ;)

JoeST

i would think the 6 lane would be better, leaving space for the 8 lane later ;)

and maybe you should use buddybuds underpass lots to join the major crossroads

Nice teasers, Casper! You've deserved the OSITM award.

Now to the point: a 6-lane elevated highway could be a good idea! One good reason to use the Maxis highway: High capacity requiring not much room.

Success!

Teaser: A1 Construction Finishes
Why do I keep teasing you, you might ask. To be honest, I don't really know, but I'm a little short on time at the moment, so taking and editing one picture and writing a story to go with it is less time-consuming then the Follow-a-Sim Part 2 that should be coming up tomorrow or later.

Now that the construction of the A1 got finished, it soon seemed as if it wouldn't get the attention and traffic that was hoped for. It is estimated that only 300 cars pass the Northbound direction of the Highway every day, while the old Avenue reached tens of thousands of cars per day on peak days. Experts are now investigating it, and have been thinking about the little amount of crossings (or on-off-ramps, for that matter) that the A1 has, compared to the unreal amount of intersections that the Avenue had. Also, the lack of an intercity connection at this moment stops the booming as well, so a new piece of the Highway, to be called A2, has been planned out by Tarkus Inc. (thanks for the RHW!), that will reach into Stechford. All prices for mass transit have increased enormously and gas price reductions have been set, all to get more Highsburians to use the A1. Many inhabitants are now naming the A1 to "Interest Highway", thanks to the award the city has won a week before the construction was completed.

Enough teasers?

Good choice on the highway design, casper! The overpass is more to my liking, but only because underpasses aren't common here in the south U.S. I've always heard it was because of the somewhat unstable soil base we have here, but who really knows? Maybe, given time, traffic will increase - that seems to be the way it works with most new installations.

Hope to see much more of Highsbury Grove in the days to come...

Casper, the A1 looks very nice--I see you went for a dual RHW-4 C/D Lane setup, a good choice!  And thanks for Tarkus Inc., too--I'm really honored! :)  I'm looking forward to the A2.

As long as you have something to show, I don't mind being teased!

You're doing a great job here, my friend! It's definitely a pleasure to check out your work!

Take care,

Sheep49: Thanks alot!
JBSimio: Welcome to the Portfolio, and I'm glad you like it. The inhabitants of Highsbury were fond of the HRC Tourist-Train plan too.
art128: Thanks!
Haljackey: I hope you enjoyed the finished product, thanks alot.
Tarkus: Thanks a lot, and also welcome to Highsbury. I'm glad you enjoyed yourself. You deserved to have a Urban-Planning company named after you  :P
Nerdly_Dood: Woah, that is an ingenius idea. Perhaps I can put it to good use later.
thundercrack83: Thanks, I'll do my best!
JoeST: Good to see that you think it is w00t, I like your MD too!  :)
bat: Thank you!
Mrtnrln: Thanks alot, I decided to go for the more space-consuming option tho.
JMouse: Thanks, I rather overpasses too, but because there is no Euro-Road for the Road-over-RHW piece, it stood out too much, so I decided to use underpasses for roads and overpasses for avenues.
Travis: Thank you!

Update 7: Follow-a-Sim (Part 2)
Well then, after a lot of Highway-Related teasing, I thought it was time to post the second part of Follow-a-Sim here. If you're not familiar with the drill, please view Update 6 on page 12. Sadly enough, I also have to announce that this may be the last update regarding Highsbury Grove. At this moment, virtually everything has been showed, in all three quads (I never told you there was more quads, did I?); so this episode in the Portfolio is probably over. Don't dispair, I may have something new lurking around soon...

...By now, it was 1 PM

John drove the train past several stations.

By 7 PM this day of hard work was finally over. He drove into Stechford Minor station and greeted his mistress, who wanted to arrange a date at the Double Tree hotel tomorrow evening, with a kiss and then left the station. He looked around and agreed upon the news that this area was the worst-planned neighbourhood in Highsbury.

He walked back to Canal Parking Lot, placed in the middle of the canal to prevent car drivers from sneaking past the payment stands. He didn't know why, but there was always a car, with the keys inserted, on the parking lot. He used it to drive homeward, and the next they it just re-appeared.

John picked up a lifting courtesan and drove her by the canal to the Interest Memorial Walkway.

After the lady of easy virtue left the car, he drove on the Canal Drive until he came at this intersection, where he turned right.

He then drove by this intersection. Somehow, the Confidential Information Office decided to photoshop this image making it look as if it was took before the A1 was constructed.

He noticed the roundabout, and knew he wasn't far from his home now.

John turned left at I-459 (Intersection 459) and drove over the canal once more.

The car grounded to a halt, while he noticed that he was out of fuel. John knew that a friend of his lived nearby, and asked him for a spare amount of fuel. He started the car again and continued his trip through the quaint neighborhood.

And there he was then, he parked his car at his estate near I-975α. He once again felt proud to have the largest yard...

That was it, I hope you enjoyed it everyone!
