Just for you danielcote....
Here are two pics, one before the game failure and one after the reconstruction. I worked on it this evening and got almost 75 % of the citytile restored. Of course there are some minor changes, but you will be able to find yourself around since I rebuilt most of the important places almost exactly as before (Long live the building plop cheat)

This was taken in October 1963, just before I made the error of saving the citytile without the proper pluginsfolder.

...and here is the rebuild, that I did tonight. June 1964.

Doesn't look too bad, right?

Looks great! I wonder what you've got blacked out there?

            -Jordan
I'm the one who jumped across the Grand Canyon... and lived.

Battlecat

Looks like a good rebuild to me.  You managed to get most of it to grow back in exactly the same place!

kimcar

Great update  once again . Sorry to not be there even often that i want . Very teasing the black spot ;D

bat

Nice two new pictures there, and looking forward to the next update... :)

frostwolf

Been following this board for a while but never got around to posting. Figured this was as good a time as any to post.

Glad you got your computer sorted out. My old eMac will barely support Simcity anymore (maybe because of all the extras I put on it), so I've had to go on a hiatus from the game until I can afford a new computer. Hopefully, that won't take too long.

I like this "skull village" thing; saw something like it on an Aussie TV show called "Sea Patrol", first season. You've got a good way of telling the story to keep us in suspense, giving us little hints and clues so we can drive ourselves mad trying to figure it out. ;)

I love the lumber mill. Actually, I'm constantly wondering when if and when it might become available to the rest of us; I need mills for my regions, and I can't make my own. My mac doesn't support bootcamp.

I'm somewhat interested in picking up a character in this. I like the sound of Douglas Panamint, prospector and miner.

CabraBuitre

Hey Fred, check your PM's... I sent you one about joining too!

Check out Abelfarei!

Hey thanks folks for the interest.

canyonjumper, well...it is actually not that important what I blocked out but I want to wait for the next update before showing it. It's got something to do with Nethaniel Wellington, our Clubfood's owner.
Battlecat, yes, some of the bldg's I had to destroy several times before I got the right one back until I thought of the Residential Plopcheat....hey, that wasn't so easy neither, because I didn't know the names of those lots. But it came out pretty good I think.
kimcar, it's not that important that you come here that often, it is appreciated to see you once in awhile like this. Thanks
bat, thanks for dropping in again.
frostwolf, thanks you, kind of you. I will send you a PM soon with all the details I nned to know for the participation of your Character in my story. The sawmill BATs and lots will be out within a month. I just got a new computer and still haven't installed BAT yet, plus right nowe I am working hard on the GRV II Project to get it fully updated before the end of the month. Then I will have some of my BATs tweaked and uploaded.
CabraBuitre, I also sent you a PM with some questions about your character of the Winding River Project.

Probably by the end of this weekend, I will have another update ready, if I don't have too many people (friends and relatives) visiting me this weekend, then I'll leave for Vancouver for a week, to see some of the Olympics.

Looks very similar but I think you should re plop the pit theatre.

mrbisonm

Nexis4Jersey, glad to see you again.

danielcote, Well you're right, I forgot the theater, but the one beside I couldn't find , so I made a Postoffice out of it. Good spot for it, right on Mainstreet.

Give me a couple of days to make the next update, bigger than I thought.....oufff....20 pics.

Looks good Fred! I like that you are getting color now in the paper. ;D

My new MD. Check it out if you wish.

Adrian, I miss you man.

Not bad! I like your newspapers because of how they respect what "time" it is. Very nice.

Thanks, glad you liked the paper, sorry it wasn't what it should be, (qualitywise) but it was done quite quickly.

Here it is....

Update 35....July 1964

The early summer season is dry sofar and it hasn't rained for 3 weeks now. Farmers are worrying about their crops lacking moisture to grow and ripen before fall arrives. The Mayor worries about the dam and the Fingerlake which brings the town's power and water.
He gathered his counselors and specialists and rented a bus from Kohler to bring them directly to the dam and have a serious talk about the possible problem of lacking water for the turbines and our tubs. The new bus brought them right on the shore and later underground where the meters were read.
The blue line shows the n0rmal waterlevel height. Now the stairs end before the level. A good time to do some renovating of the shores.

pic1

Highway 15 has reached the swamps in the Sterling County. Although plans were to go right over the swamps, new ground stability testing has proved wrong. Moving sands, wet grounds and unstable rocks and groundlayers will become a serious problem for our Highway construction leaders, Mike Allheimer and Alex Puto.
The highway ended right on Sterling's road which lead to the Rundi Sterling's properties in the Stoke mountain chain.

pic2

Two first pillars were build only a week ago and already both of them have moved. Failure to build a long bridge over this will either lead the highway around the swamps or ask for a better solution which may cost millions....John Gabber is discouraged.

pic3

Terry Slye took a ride into Sterling's land last week and what he saw amazed him. No closed gate nor a sign to stop him. Trees of great sizes and quality in industrial quantities. These larchtrees are just ideal for wooden bridge building, barns etc and in high demand these years. He must talk to the Billionaire and get him into the lumber buissness.
Now this is what Slye could use, since the highway Loggers have stopped logging for awhile until they know exactly where they're going, besides the prairies to come have not much forests.

pic4

«« " I didn't believe what I saw in the Global Newspapers this morning," Mayor Bartlett told his counselors in a special meeting, " We havn't even been contacted about this yet. Imagine the Government has decided to detour our highway around the town and install the rails where there are roads now. Can tell someone tell me how that is possible? I thought the town was ours to administrate. This cannot be happening."»»
Mayor Bartlett was angry, very angry that he wasn't informed about this plan. Even though in the Global Newspapers it said that it were the first planspeculations for detouring the highway and nothing was decided yet, the Mayor blew once more his hat off.

I don't know if it is final or what, but the Highway 15 will contour the town in one way or another. Only 5 years old and already being destroyed is not quite what the population would appreciate. The highway is simply in the way to other things, they say, rails have been decided to lead to Sodom and Bluebay south and the town of Access can now rebuild and enlargen it's downtown. It became too dangerous to have a highway smack in the middle of downtown anyways.
The blue lines show the contouring of the highway and the green show the rails. There will be a short extension of Highway 15 down to the airport.
The Project will be given to Gabber Inc.

pic5

The rails will take the place of the highway, a lot less wider though. There are no plans for the moment to have a Station in Access, since no passenger trains travel through this line and a commercial station is already being planned in Valmore north, near the Slye sawmill. This project will cost a few million simoleons, but it will give Access more space to handle it's downtown, which has become somehow stuck with traffic.
The Government said that Access was simply in the path for the rails to head south to Sodom and Bluebay and nothing was planned specially for Access at this moment.
That will be a mess again in our town, Mayor Bartlett thinks, when the railconstruction arrives.

pic6

Close to the airport, Guy Racsan officially opened one of his Jet-engine Manufacturing hangars with 80+ workers to begin with and another 200 will follow by the beginning of next year. This will again boost the population of Access with new workerfamilies arriving with the hope to find a steady, easy and good paying job. Access' economy is rising.
Mr Racsan is also planning to introduce another Motorcompany in the region, this time for cars. This is planned for 1970 only, in six years to be precise.

pic7

In the Mayor's office things are boiling up. Steven Bartlett admits that a 28,000 town is quite harder to manage than a big village in his last three years of mayoring. The town is growing too rapidly, almost by the hundreds every week.
Every service and utility is starting to miss out on something. We need another and bigger Elementary school and a seconday school is now becoming a necessity also, plus the fire station is way too small with its two firefighters. First things first and the firestation somehow is on the primary list. A new one is planned with 3 fire engines and 8 firefighters in all. The only problem is to find a suitable spot to have it build, but probably not that difficult if the highway is to be destroyed. Maybe a good thing afterall, Mayor Bartlett now thinks.

pic8

Talking about services and utilities, the Religious Commission of Lakestead also is running out of room in that little church on Mainstreet, and have decided to build a bigger and newer one right in the middle of the residential area behind the shoppingmall and the little pond that used to be the only place Access had its water from.

pic9

The death of our first Mayor in Access, Mr Paul Hubert , was announced today in the Dr Goober's Clinic. Mr Hubert died of a heart attack at the age of 59. He was the Mayor of Access Junction from the beginning until Steven Bartlett was elected. Paul lived in Access out in the country, just ouside of town towards the west and was deliverd by his wife this morning to the clinic where finally his soul left his body. Mayor Bartlett decided to honour him with a statue in his name somewhere.

pic10

Neth Wellington has done it again. He built the biggest building in Access Center yet, a modern Office block of 7 floors. Renting most of it for other offices, some governmental, he placed his Clubfood Mainoffice on the first floor. This building is totally modern with fire extinguishers on each floor and even has an automatic heat and smoke detecting sprinkler system. Sofar Wellington is the most important buissness man, besides Guy Racsan, in Access, contributing a servive of food and alimentation to the population. With his Bake n' Sale on Mainstreet, his foodstore in the shoppingmall, he will add a bigger Clubfood Oulet soon. The only thing missing at the moment is the right place for it.
Miss Barby White didn't enjoy the idea that the mayor's office allowed such abig building near her Biergarten, keeping the sun away in the evening from her lovely outside terrace.

Also on this picture below we can clearly see how the downtown of Access Center is coming along in its 8 years of existance.
Here we can see that the church is way too small for the town's population, that the elementary school also is too small, that the Mayor's office (townhall if we may name it so) is getting somewhat ridicilous looking for a town this size and that the crossing of highway is getting dangerous.

pic11

Here's a closer look at this marvelously modern 7 story high Office building of Mr Wellington. The smaller building just in front of the big Office was bought out by welligton only last week, he needed the space for parking.

pic12

I just drove by the dam last night and had a spectacular view of it during late evening, and I couldn't resist to take a picture and show it.

pic13

Since 2 years more and more Hobbyfarmers of all ages have invaded the Valmore are of Access. Many retired folks keep a small amount of animals or plant some fruits and veggies for their pleasure of being in the country and an extra revenue. Not only the town has more immigrants but the country side also is being used..

pic14

Those people are offering their farmingproducts to the public on Beacon's Rd near the highway intersection in the former Valmore area under a small tent. Here you can buy fruits and vegetables and even some eggs and canned meatproducts on Saturdays and Sundays only.

pic15

Finally Miss Barby's Hotel project was started. It will be only a few yards away from the beach that belongs to Barby also. This will be the first Vacational Hotel in Access. Miss White bought a larger terrain here only a year ago when she heard that most of the surrounding lake properties were in the matter of being bought out by investing Companies. 45 Acres of natural land will give Barby enough space for the Hotel but also for some natural lforests, a private beach and a large ornamental garden. Maybe she is also planning to build a home here later, since the appartment in Access is getting a little too noisy for her.

pic16

This is Valmore lake, now belonging like Valmore South to Access Center. You can see Barby's property from here, just make a square around her construction site, holding all the trees.

pic17

The second murder in the Region of the Winding River has been committed last night. Mr Andy Dubold, the foreman of the Logging department resposable for the highway construction, was found stabbed several times and left for death beteen 2 homes out in the countryside. Mr Dubold died on the way to the Clinic in Access. The murder weapon was found nearby as if left behind in a hurry and fingerprints will surely become the main importance of this case. No one has seen or heard anything how he was killed or transported to this area, about 4 kilometers north of Access in Valmore.
It didn't take long for the curious people to drive by. Not only will the local Police take care of this case, but also the Regional Sherriff(dark blue car) will have its part. The Access Policechief (black car) and the Coroner (yellow van) were the first to arrive on scene.
John Gabber isn't happy at all, having known Dubold for several years. He used to work for John's father, Henry.

pic18

It was earlier this week when the old Hydroplane of John Gabber lost a tailwing. Ol' Rusty Rover, as John called his plane, gave John a last difficult ride. He had to land in an emergency on the valmore lake, but lost control when touching the waters and the plane did not take minutes to sink into the depth of the lake. Intentions to retrieve the plane became impossible and Rusty Rover was left behind.
At the same while we are here over the lake, take a look at the left lower corner of the picture, where people have been bringing their garbage. If Mayor Bartlett see this he will blow his hat off once again.......

pic19

A new face in Access is not making the Access' Police chief happy, a young fellow well known by the police in Reverant, seemed to have moved to Access. He was seen in the last 2 weeks around the downtown at late hours. Johnny B Badd was born in 1944 in Reverant and lost his parents at an early age and wherefrom he was raised as an orphelin until he ran away when he reached his 15 years old. He was later arrested several times for minor accusations such as mild drug selling, stealing food and some violence with other kids. Now 20 years old he was clean for the last two years it seems, but the Police chief of Reverant thinks that he is playing role well and has continued his minor criminal adventures without been detected. Access' chief is keeping an eye on him, but Johnny knows.....

So this was the 35th update and I hope you liked it again, more coming in a week or maybe by the next weekend. Take care 'til then.

Fred

One more thing..... Please check the picture below first and tell me what this is. I have several of these lightbluesparkling dark clouds in my city that sometimes have orange coloured sparkles coming out of it too. There are 4 or five of these scattered over the Access city tile. If yiou need better pics , let me know. I have no idea what where and why these are.....

Thanks

Good to see some new work out of WRP, Fred. Clad to see that the reconstruction is going well, it seems to be almost a perfect replica.
