Thanks for understanding. I will probably have a small update ready later this week or on the weekend (Newspaper headlines of the events coming up in the Winding River Region).

What's this about a fire now? Everyone ok? How about my steak? I'll need to check on things, make sure everything's running as it should. Any idea what actually started the fire?

mrbisonm

I heard that the fire was started by natural causes in the nearby forest and with the wind it spread into the sawmill's direction, but fortunetly heavy rains somehow were able to stop its growth.
No fire trucks available yet in this area, only in Access Junction, and they only have one truck sofar and two fireworkers, not much as one could ask for. Hopefully the Mayor will take this into serious consideration and get his fireprotection up to date soon, now that the two municipalities have joined.
Btw, no one was hurt because when folks got there, the fire was already dying. But....woufff, that was too close to his sawmill for Slye.

Sorry for being late....Ok, I finally got around to install the game and its components in my new computer, but so many things still to get, install and to *tweak*. At least I can use it for now, open my game and take some pictures. Of course I didn't have much time yet to make significient changes to my region, nor create new BATs (gmax has not been installed yet), but don't worry, they'll come.

The Minister of Natural Resources announced last week the results of the official Winding River regional survey, that took two years to finalize. Although not every part of the region has been surveyed, but it was quite surprizing what they came up with.
No precious metals of stones were found during that period, except for one little find of gold.
Resources that were found in large quantity are Coal, Aluminum, Iron Ore and some parts of the swampy areas even have oil. Other resources include wood, large amounts of fish in the River itself and a lot of flat and fertile terrain just ideal for agricultural use. The picture below shows the most important resource discoveries.

Access Center, formerly named Access Junction, has the Valmore South municiplaity joined with them for better administration and of course a better futur for both of them. The votes of Valmore were 782 to 412 to join Access. So it is done and Valmore today has become a part of Access Center. At the same time Access Center was declared independant from the Lakestead County and has it's own county now, Access County. All that was officially signed during the last weeks in the Capitol City of Lakestead. (Picture above)
Mr Steven Bartlett, the mayor of Access , was happily received, when the Access Officials came back from the city to announce the good news. A big party was organized at Barby's Weingarten that day.

Yesterday Morning Henry Gabber, the owner of Gabber Industries and John Gabber's father, had his first heart attack at the age of seventy. He was brought to the Bluebay Hospital where it was decided to bring him immediatly to the General Hospital in Lakestead, where the best Cardiologists in the area were waiting for his arrival. His wife Marlene travelled with him by helicopter.

pic4^

John and his brother Gary Gabber, including the family's best friend Mike Allheimer all went to join them later in the Gabber's private plane.
Lakestead, the Capitol, is about 125 miles (approx 200Km) from Bluebay and the highway extension to the west has not been build yet, therefore traveling by car would take at least 6 hrs to contour the whole mountain chain. With the Gabber's Jet it only takes about 25 minutes.
We will know more of his condition in the next update.

pic5^

««" Is Grandpa going to be ok?", little charlie asked his father, while he was preparing to leave to the hospital, " Will he be gone for a long time?"
" Don't worry Charlie", John answered his youngest son, who never really cared much about Grandpa anyways as he thought," I'm surprized you asked, I thought you didn't like Grandpa...?"
" I never said I didn't like Grandpa, it's just that he always mumbles about everything I do...,.now will he be ok?"
" Yes, he will. They brought him to the best place where people with heartproblems are treated. He will probably mumble again in a few days", John said with a smile while hugging his son before leaving with Mike.»»

Charlie seemed to be a little sad, when father John left, mostly because of Grandpa's condition. Although he absolutely never liked his comments, he kinda thought about what it would be like without him, something he surely would mind.
A few minutes later Charlie was on the phone with his best friend Diar seeking some understanding and comfort. They agreed to meet on the next weekend to plan a small nature exploration with a group of their friends this summer. Going north from Grasslake no one actually has done yet.

Meanwhile in the Valmore County a fire rage has spred throughout the area and burning down a lot of acres of forests. The fire came as close to Slye's Sawmill as a shout, and all the workers were ready with hoses, pumps, shovels and machinery to confront the firewall. Fortunetly the fire burned itself out during the heavy rain before reaching the sawmill perimeters. What a relief for TS, who panicked like never before. The firestorm left as fast as it appeared, leaving a lot of dead trees behinds without actually having burned them to the ground. Maybe some valuable wood can still be found there, Slye thought.
That's it, he said to his workers, he will never be dependant on the Access Fire department again who will take ages to get to the sawmill. Slye will build his own Fire department, and that starting next week.

The biggest construction site ever in the country was started last month. It is the Hydrodam on the Winding River near the Capitol City of Lakestead that will one day take care of the powerneeds of the west, such as Lakestead, which is growing like crazy. The project is also one of the most expensive ones ever since. Of course that project is starting to give more problems to John Gabber, having already not enough workers to build the Highway and its bridges. Wages are too high for the damworkers he says, and that draws more people to the dam, than for the highway. I guess immigrants would be a solution to the problem.

pic8^

In Phlox and Valmore things are starting to move, the bridgebuilding has started, now that the terrains are ready to receive the structures. Dozens of Barges of all sizes have been brought here to transport the materials from the westside to the islands and to the eastside. They are probably starting to build the bridge from both sides, to meet on the island.
I heard they were also planning a temporary bridge that will be used for the trucks to cross the bridge, but in the federal office, they want to have a second permanent bridge to cross the river in case that one fails or needs to be shut in the futur.
Mr Alex Puto, the responsable for the Highway bridge construction, met the officials and discussed some details to build another bridge over the giant Winding River.

pic9^

Small harbours were built to receive and ship the materials from one side to another. Even some bigger ships have arrived with the concrete and other  base materials needed for the construction. They come upriver by the sea, something was first thoroughly tested and surveyed, since the river never had any shiptraffic before. Fortunetly the sea is only  about 40 kilomters away (by the river) and less than 10 km's on the map in a straight line to the east. (See the bottom map).

pic10^

Back to Access Center, Mr Welligton the owner of Clubfoods , has bought some land near the shopping Center to build his new office. Rumours are that this will be a several story building, probably the biggest and highest yet in Access. Thinking big, Nethaniel Wellington is going for it, also having asked the municipal office to find him a new space to build a bigger and better Clubfoods. Since the population is growing by the hundreds every year now, they will need better and bigger services, especially for the food needs. Building his office will start in a month and should be finished before christmas this year. All excited, Nethaniel comes to see for himself the constructionadvances every evening.

Takahashi Riichirou, our civil engineer and Access' neighborhood planner, recommended to the town to hire a specialist in undergroundworks for the waterpipeline from the dam. The first name that came to his mind was Jerry Meaden from Vancouver/ Canada, a GIS specialist. Jerry lives with his son Jordan at the moment and is more than willing to move down to Access Center if it offers him a permanent job. Mayor Bartlett agreed to Takahaschi's offer.
Then in Framton, a young bushpilot with little experience was hired by the Surveying Office to take arial pictures of the Winding River Region, plus be able to transport the surveyors, biologists and others to the never been visited areas of the valley. His name is Steve Gibson, who just married awhile ago and they are awaiting their first child by the end of the year. Gibson was offered an appartment just above the Local newspaper (Access Junction Tribune) in Access, nothing that he fully agreed with.

Here's that small general regional map again so you can make it clear where everything is actually located.

pic12^

Hope you liked that update, although it wasn't much to my eyes, but considering all the problems I had, plus not being fully installed on my computer yet, it should be a fair new start for this year.
Another one will come up later this week or at the latest on the next weekend.
We will then talk about the Billionaire Rundi Sterling, the growth of Access towards Grasslake, the plans for the enlargements of the airport, the rails plans and many more interesting stories like * What's the army up to in Valmore, fencing in the whole vicinity and even closing the newly build family homes?*. Winding River is slowly changing.

Have a nice week

Great update Fred! I betcha Slye almost followed in Henry Gabber's footsteps with that fire so close to his mill. It'll be interesting to see how my character fits into your story.
                  Later,
                          Jordan

Great update! I can't believe you got so much into it. Also Wow is that hospital ever huge!

nedalezz

Yay, its finally here! Great update as usual.

So how much is the acquisition of the new land costing them, seeing as it is in prime location in Access Center.

kimcar

&apls Great one . I like the hydrodam scenery , very well done.I`m happy for you about your new pc. Hope you still get your castle and stuff. Have fun

bat

Fantastic update, looking forward to more... ;)

jmyers2043

Hello Fred

I really like the buildings you use that are under construction (pic 9) That, I think, is the MrBisonM trademark as I rarely or never see anyone else do that. Are those real growables with jobs? or are they plop lots?

Thanks for the comments, always appreciated and surely encouraging.

canyonjumper, well you'll read more about your character in the next update, Jordan Meaden will be leading an important journey to a new discovery in the Winding River Region..........hm......
danielcote, hopefully I will show Mr Wellington's finished new Office bldg in one of the next two updates. ;)
nedalezz, the cost of these prime landlots are probably very high, haven't figured out yet how much they actual paid. ;)
kimcar, don't worry, although I have a new computer, I didn't loose any files whatsoever, therefore the castle is still on gmax waiting to be finalized, soon enough I hope. I am still working on installing files and programs, never thought it would take so long, but then again, I have (too) many files......lol
bat, come again, thanks.
jmyers2043, thanks for the compliment, these constructionlots are all Parklots, but should be easy to transform into Ploppables with jobs I guess. I will release them one day, when I got all of them tweaked properly.
