1.95GB right at the moment, only partially compressed.  Fairly manageable size.  I tend to delete the "Plop" versions.

My folder is currently 2.20 GB. That doesn't include the mods I have in the Maxis/SimCity 4/Plugins folder.

HELP! %confuso

Maybe just everyone would be so kind to stop Batting and Lotting? My HD is flowing over!

:D :D :D

FrankU-----while I definatey appreciate your sentiment.....please don't ask them to do that... :D....... Seriously... I wonder how big these folders are going to be a year from now....there is soooooo much good stuff out there and more comming in from around the world everyday..... kind of scary ain't it.

As a related note, I do wonder how we (SC4) fanatics will cope as the bat'ers and lot'ers keep getting more and more stuff available?  I'm seriously thinking of getting a newer and more powerful computer.... JUST FOR SC...that's rediculous... sort of..... and I have at least half of my download stored outside the game for now...just cause it takes so long to 1] load  and 2] scroll thru 7 gazillion items to get a certain dohicky I'm thinking of....yet one of the first things I do upon surfing the net each day is to go LEX, PLEX, STEX ing  for "anything new and exciting"   sigh.

Oh well, I think that's as close to a "rant" as I can get at my age ::)....
and reminds me...havn't been to the Plex today....

later....
Sometimes I go into my own little world....but it's ok, they know me there.

City Builder

My plugins folder is now 714MB and that is compacted using the data packer, before that I don't recall how much it held but it seems the compacter doesn't compact too much, just puts everything into individual one off files so I was probably close to about 800 to 850 before compacting.  I need to wash out my plugin folders and only put back in the stuff that I really use which would probably drop me down to about half that size or maybe even a quarter the total size it is now.

Oh!  Thanks for the negative rep, I love you too!

I dare say, I have the largest plugin folder size! I mean, sure, it takes two hours to load a tile and I can't even open iTunes anymore, but I think my number takes all. Prepare to be amazed and shocked when I tell you that I have . . . ALMOST 16 GIGS!!! Yeah, I DL almost everything I see. :P

Everything good quality? Or just everything no matter the quality?

16gb?!? :o  My goodness that's a lot of plugins.  I'm not to surprised that it takes a couple of hours ??? to load tiles...that's gotta drive ya nuts.  I don't think mine will ever get that big, at least I hope not....but I have been known be absent-minded at times :D

Wow! I've read through the thread and am amazed at how many and also how few files people have. Since 2003 and having reorganised and cleaned out my plugins several times, I have 4.71GB with 23.251 files and 4.636 folders (as of today) in the plugins folder. While there are 276mb with 1.752 files and 202 folders in the Maxis plugins. This is a major reason it takes about 10 minutes to load the friggin' game and can be difficult to back up ALL of the files to an external drive when changing computers. I don't Datpack anything and I LOVE the Startup Manager for managing files and/or testing BATs/lots in each city.

some would say that Leo is a fibber :p

but yeah... thats ABSOLUTELY MAHOOOSIVE

Before I found out about this thread I thought I had a problem with my 1Gig of Plugins. Now I know I am just a beginner.
But what to do with a loading time of two hours?
You start up your computer, load SC4, go out to the supermarket, do the shopping, drive back home, cook dinner, eat it, watch the TV news, drink a cup of coffee with whomever you share your home with, go to your computer and see if your citytile is on the screen?
This takes some planning!

And in the meantime: we all know that the most wanted, but stupidly forgotten, item in the game is the possibility to add new menus.
Already now I tend to forget what is in my plugins......And if not...where a certain item is.

xxdita

You can rearrange any of your menus using Reader. All you have to do is change the Item Orders.
You could go through each and every landmark lot, and number them all in the order you want to see them, or just create a range, say x01 through x0A, and categorize them accordingly, so that the ones you use most appear at the top of the list.
When playing with a new landmark, it almost always gets lost in the menu.

TopCliff

To answer all questions:

Yes, I'll get a pic soon.

Yes, my menues are extremely long (3,014 icons in the Landmarks menu).

I usually grab a bite to eat while I wait for it to load. Maybe watch a movie.

I only DL high quality stuff. I guess that says there is a lot of high quality stuff going around.

Lastly, I'm a very patient person. I can handle the wait. But, I am trying to clean it up a little. :P

your value of quality must be skewed, cause i dl stuff i think is of mediocre quality, and mines only 2 gig :p

xxdita...wow...I never new that about reader.....hmmm...I have the tool but have never cracked it open  &mmm  fear of screwing something up I guess....but will try to do that ......wonderful and thanks

Leo......ahhhh Leo..... do you realize that in 1990 it would have taken a rather large IBM mainframe to hold your plugins folder :D

It's a good thing you are a patient person.....sheesh
