Congratulations on the new status (and it seems David has a sixth sense for when people have too much to do in real life - it's a guaranteed way to get "special interest" status :D)!

And it seems I missed the last update. Great stuff as usual. The trailer park by the see is a very unique and interesting feature - serves to remind me that beachfront property isn't always luxurious. In fact, I think you proved that with all of the island updates too. Is that a new terrain mod (or water mod) by the way?

The only thing I don't really like is the embankment on the one side of the river where the bridge crosses. The bridge itself looks great, but the embankment looks a bit artificial (maybe some retaining walls would do the trick?).

Anways: congratulations, once again! &hlp &hlp &hlp &apls

I could crop it myself. If I'm the one benefiting I should do the work.

Hi Daniel ,

Not surprised to find you there ... don't worry about updates , I've had this feeling ... Not NOW !!!

Ensenada is always interesting . I remember how I was already impressed by The Savannah Way (more than 52 000 views at SCC/Simphoni  ::)), it's a real pity to have lost almost all pictures  with the shut down of imgcity ...  &mmm

Well, well.

Four pictures of my work in Blackdelve Fields so far. I haven't had much of a chance to start up SC4 lately, what with real life and all. So, five days before the 60-day deadline passes, I have a small update.

Blackdelve Field's downtown. The tallest building in town is the Blackdelve Fields Hotel and Conference Centre, located at the top-right of the picture. The town is home to about 31,000 citizens at this point, most of whom live on the west bank of the San Fernando River. Once finished, Blackdelve Fields will become the region's largest city, but the population will most likely be not much, maybe around 110k or so.

Some pictures of suburbia around Blackdelve Fields. This is a typical middle-class area, with the Valley line dividing the town into two.

The southern part of Blackdelve Fields, with some changes made to the area. There is no longer a farm field, it is now just a field of open grass, with the industrial area enroaching upon the southern end of town. A newer industrial district is being developed further west.

The rail bridge crossing one of the main tributaries of the San Fernando River. Further upstream is the dam that provides Blackdelve Fields and other surrounding towns with water.
So, that is Blackdelve Fields to this date. Next update: the construction of Highway 1, expansion of the town onto the east bank.

Thanks for making sure the 60-d deadline was not crossed
Ensenado should be in the picture, so it was a great idea. Hope that RL will ease on you for the next 2 months, as I am looking forward to the expansion and HWY1 construction.

PS: for a moment I thought this village was called Blackvelvet Fields  ;)

About damn time :P A good if modest update, I especially enjoy the 3rd picture.

Nice stuff. I really like the slope where the train leaves the station. Very nice shot, there... The roundabout right next to the station looks a bit odd though... why would you have one with only two possible exits?

The railway bridge is awesome! &apls

Edit: a question too: what is that bus mod, and could we have a closer look please? ;D

sebes: Actually, the name is from a game released a few years ago (Champions of Norrath). In that game, there is actually a town called Blackdelve Reach, with  Blackdelve Lava Field nearby (these guys apparently MINE lava). By the way, if you search for "Blackdelve" on Google, my CJ comes up as #9 on Google's list. Awesome!

Pat: Oops. Should've updated the title. Consider it done.

emilin: The bus mod is actually a modified version of one of SAC's buses. I changed it around a little to suit what I wanted. For one, it has "Savannah Mass Transit" on it. Two, it's blue and has greyish-white markings.

These buses are also extremely easy to see on the road. :P

I'll have pictures up close soon, so patience. :P

EDIT: Here's a closer-up pic.

As for that roundabout: it's like that to give people room to do a U-turn safely. That's quite common here in Australia if the only other way out is a parking lot.

All others: I haven't got much time to catch up on my backlog of replies, so I'll pull a David (dedgren for the unenlightened :P) and just leave it till later. :P

I might have an update in the next month or so. I actually have just picked up a copy of Guild Wars: Eye of the North, so I might be a lost cause for a while...

Okay, random update time. So much for the planned Highway 1 and expansion. I've changed my mind about what happens next, mainly because I well, felt like it. :P Plus, I wanted to build up the west bank some more so that it looked more complete. The west bank is more or less done (apart from some farmland that might get filled in), but I'll probably start a new city tile to add some jobs and whatnot. It's most likely Blackdelve Swamps [to the north] will be done first, then Silverwater Junction [to the south].

Now, just north of the town's CBD, a rail interchange where the Uplands Line splits off to the west [top-right], and the Valley Line [bottom] continues to follow the river. This is essentially the northern boundary of the CBD. I'm considering leaving the area off to the right just as forest, seeing as much of it is basically hilly, and therefore it would be difficult to develop on.

A picture of the smaller district that's sprung up across the railway, complete with an extension to the station. Right at this point in time, it is next to farmland, but will change as soon as the farmer who owns the place where the avenue ends sells up... The avenue is proposed to run right through that farm, so who knows what will happen next?

Remember this shot from update 1? Well, what's happened is that it's become a little better-decorated to suit what Blackdelve Fields is turning into... a small city. Does this look better than the old shot, now that everything matches better? In any case, the road in this bridge is a certain highway that is due to be moved so that it bypasses the CBD (and duplicated, too), forming a ring road of sorts...

Blackdelve Fields Hospital, one of a number of health facilities available in the town, has excellent views over the San Fernando River. The valley is quite pleasant in the spring... provided you don't mind the extremely cold breezes that come down from the mountains from time to time (due to the valley's wind-tunneling effect).

Some more pictures of the parkland that covers most of the western shore of the river. The parklands stop a considerable distance further south, roughly where the rail bridge that was built to the east side is. (that'll be shown once the surrounding area is fixed up).

It also might be a good idea for me to sort out the highway numbering system. I use the MABC system (M routes, A routes, B routes and C routes) in all of my regions. The major highway at this point in time (better known as River Road) is A48. M and A routes are mutually exclusive, so when the bypass is built, it'll become M48. The major east-west route that passes through Blackdelve Fields (or other towns) is A85. So, it's not too far to San Fernando province's southern border from here.

Updates will occur whenever I feel like posting/playing SC4. :P

SA, I have to concur with Ryan here.  This is a fantastic update, as always.  Random updates are always a welcome thing--it keeps with the NAM Team motto, "We like to surprise people". ;)  I really like what you've done with the rail networks, and that embankment up to the bridge is very realistic.  I can't wait to see the bypass go in.   ;)

Some time since my last visit, and there is again a lot to see here. I still very much like how you let your developments use a lot of space, making for high degree of realism.
