i totally agree serkanner but does not curiosity make you wonder what other marvellous creations these specialists could produce if they broadened their horizons so to speak...

Not really no ... I have seen so many requests to BAT creators that the requests themselves start to bother me. My curiosity will be fullfilled with the release of any and all new BAT, by any creator, whenever it is released.

I was not 'requesting' I was suggesting. It is different. I'm sure that even with his extreme talent mr Jestarr is open to hearing ideas and suggestions for inspiration.

Its a very thin line between suggesting and requesting. I will take your word for it though  ;)

Grain elevator looking good. I like the new factory too. Patiently (not really) waiting for the release.

Very nice Jestarr and yes let Jestarr things his way.

OK, folks.  While I'm always open to suggestions (I've gotten some great inspiration from some), the chances of my doing commercial/residential buildings, other than my so called transition ones, is slim to none (at least in the near term).  It's not really my area of interest, or expertise, at this time.  I often stare in wonder at the creations of paulvmontfort, bixel, ks_jpn and others.  These are seriously talented individuals and for me to do buildings in that vein, I'd feel compelled to, at least, get close to their standard.  I'm afraid that it would turn into work and cease being fun.  That's not to say I don't stray occasionally (I have released CO, farm, and civic lots) :D.  I'm always making new things, but most aren't up to being released, as they're mostly modeling experiments and never get beyond the concept stage.  With that said, patfirefghtr asked about the greenhouses I made.  I wasn't going to release them, as they were one of my experiments, but I've spruced them up a little and below is the result.  At this point it's only a test lot.  I'm going to ask the real experts (BarbyW and Dolphin66) about what, if anything, I can do with them.  Then we'll see.  Cheers!

Fantastic work on the green houses.  They looks perfect and would really make a great needed addition to the farming portion of the game.

I have a huge amount of respect for ALL the BATters out there especially you.  (I love industrial BATs  ()stsfd() ) I think that most cities consists of a certain housing style, that all usually look very similar.  There could be several hundered different housing (building) designs, but commercial, industrial and farms are all different.  So we need more of these style of bats and you definatley fill that void very well.  Please keep doing what you do best,.......Unless you want to become an expert in all the areas which I'm sure wouldn't be too difficult for you.

Stick with the industry like you said, my industrial areas would look so bad without your work that I would cry :S

Jestarr, those are some nice greenhouses. I do have a suggestion though because to me they're really lacking in one main way; the glass. It looks like there is no glass on them at all. They look more like frames. You should mess around with some semi-transparent glass. Right now I think the lack of clearly definable glass sells these terribly short when they could be really spectacular.

Oh and stick with what YOU like doing best. Nobody can do it all. You've carved out quite nice niche for yourself with all those industrial lots. If that's what you want to keep doing stick with it, but if you want some variety try something else. The point is don't feel pressured to change. Batting is a hobby and like any hobby one has to be on guard against it turning into work!

Jestarr is born for Industry lots and thanx to him our Industry sectors are no longer dead and boring.Keep up the excellent work.

Well, gmax has some problems with transparency if you render the model against the black background of the renderer. It either shows up as solid surface, or not at all. However, it's possible to edit the rendered S3D files in the Reader to get the transparency back. Just ask Swamper77 or me for some hints how to do the modification (or post the files at the BSC Exchange so one of us can have a look).

That said, I don't know how you're able to pump out the models so fast, and making them looking excellent at the same time. You do have some good imps hidden in your closed, don't you? ;)

Andreas, I do have glass set to 40% transparency, however when I rendered it I got plain dark windows.  I set 3, low level, daytime omnis in it and rerendered.  You've seen the result.  No apparent glass.  I'll post the model, so you or swamper can look at it.  I appreciate it, too. ;D

p.s.  I've got those little buggers chained to the wall.  No work no food. :D

OK, I've been working on Currey PetroChemical, and the models/props are rendered.  I've started on a lot, similar to one done by ncd, some time ago.  I'm not sure if I like it yet, but I put it in-game, so I could look at it a while and decide what I wanted to do. :D  Here's a pic of its current state.  The pics not the greatest, but what can you do?  Cheers!

Frankie

I certainly like it

The only complaint I have is that the spur that leads to the bottom of the lot seems a bit too sharp, but I can always modify that myself  ;D

ky72x

I agree, it does look somewhat sharp.  Does it spur off behind the tanks?  If so, then it may not be a problem.  Some more of those barrels would look nice scattered around the lot, just not too much though.  Other than that, it looks great.  Keep up the good work.

I agree as well, the orthogonal spur seems somewhat unnecessary anyway, so maybe it'll be more useful if you simply "park" the tanker cars behind those huge tanks.

Regarding the transparency: From what I've experienced, gmax will render transparencies above 50% as fully transparent, and below 50% as solid - this is however just a display problem in the game, so you don't need to do anything but posting the model, so the changes can be made. Depending on the size of the structure, it doesn't take more than two or three minutes.
