@citynut: That's the same place I found my close-ups. :D  I wasn't aware you were doing this one, but since you are, I'll drop mine.  I know you'll do an excellent job on it. ;D

In other news, Underhill Casket's lot is finished (maybe :D) and has moved to testing.  It'll be coming to a LEX near you soon.  Here's an in-game pic.  Cheers!

yeah dont drop it jestarr.
NAM + CAM + RAM + SAM, that's how I roll....

What about working together? It looks like jestarr has concentrated on the smokestacks, and citynut already modelled quite some of the ancillary buildings. Some things probably need rescaling etc., but even with two people working on such a huge factory like the VW auto plant, there's still a lot of work to do. :)

Actually, that's a good idea. ;D   I'll get with citynut and see what he wants to do.  I did work on this some more, prior to my previous post.  Here's a pic of test render #15.

mightygoose

maybe you could do different bits of the plant on different lots... that way we get more of this massive factory to play with....

LoL i think it would be cool to go modular on this massive beast imho

A co-production of Jesstar and Citynut...  sounds like music in my ears!
You know where to find me if testers are needed for that beauty ;)

Thanks sebes, I'll remember that. ;)  I mentioned once that I get bored easily and my attention span suffers thereby.  To alleviate the problem I usually have a goodly number of BATs going at the same time.  Some make the grade and get finished, some hit the "almost ran" dust bin.  Occasionally, I dust one of them off and start working on them again.  This is one such.  It's the J. Myers micro brewery and hops plant.  The below pic is the brewery building.  The hops plant is roughly the same size, just configured differently.  They'll be connected by an overhead walkway.  The textures will be changed.  I only put them on so you wouldn't have to look at plain beige walls. :D  This is roughly at the 50% mark.  Cheers!

jestarr,

I like it! I like it a lot! As a craft beer lover and homebrewer, such content warms my heart.

Have a beer on me!

Everything is coming along great... having a surplus of industrial projects going on and new releases is just like Christmas!  ;D

Keep up the excellent work!

Wow, a possible co production between citynut and you would be incredible.  And I really like patfirefghtr's idea of a modular set.  The bigger this was the better, I think.
The J. Myers micro brewery looks awesome as well and I can't wait to see more.  Great work as always.

Small update on the VW plant.  I got some more modeled.  It doesn't look like it, but I did a lot of small tedious stuff. :D  I tried a few textures on the walls, but didn't like how any of them looked, so I'm still searching for the one that's "just right". :P  Anyway here's a pic of test render 21.  The odd part sticking out isn't staying.  It's part of another building and is only there for placement purposes.  Cheers!

TheTeaCat

Very very work indeed. I am looking forward to seeing this in game hopefully. Take your time we can all wait patiently while you complete your masterpiece

Brewing a cuppa for you - this effort deserves that at the least :D

Take the texture from Underhill Casket Company and make it a touch darker. That should look realistic.
Or you try out this custom texture I made:

Jestarr, I just finished watching a program on the Discovery Science channel, (see I don't play SC4 all the time no matter what they say) that featured the VW plant and the twin 20 story storage facility they have. The show is called "How do they do that" and has several small viginettes in each. As these programs are usually repeated, you might want to keep an eye out for it, the whole thing was facinating.

I guess you're talking about these guys here? (Building 11)

Actually they are not part of the plant itself. They are part of the "Autostadt" (car city), where you can get all the informations about cars and stuff that you want.
In the towers, there are cars waiting to be picked up by there owners.

@shoreman905:  I haven't watched it yet, but I did record it to watch later. ;D

I mentioned in an earlier post that the brewery would have two buildings; the micro-brewery and a hops processing plant.  Here's a test render pic of what I have done so far.  There'll be a covered walkway connecting the buildings behind the towers (at least that's the plan at the moment).  The textures are temporary.  I only put them on for show.  My real model won't be textured until the modeling is finished.  Cheers!

Ok Jestarr gave me the texture I needed for the models, and he sent me a rough draft of the other models for scaling purposes. As you can see this thing is massive. The parts I had already done is almost 20 tiles in length. I want to thank jestarr for this joint effort to help make this moster for the game. The two smaller buildings in the back are the ones Jestarr gave me to scale with. One was close to a 4x4 and the other is almost a 4x8. Below is a pic of what I'm talking about. It's funny I picked out almost the same brick texture for the one I started  :D

The chimneys gotta be much higher. About 166,-6% of the current height.
