Wow. These farms put mine to shame. :( I'm not even able to get all the normal Maxis farms to appear - I end up with a huge white splotch for some of my farms, and every time I try to download a replacement mod I get stuck on missing dependencies.  :angrymore:  :'( :'(

Hello TeaCat - I like the winding roads.

Hello TeaCat - I like the winding roads.

Thank you very much.

I must admit that I am not a fan of straight roads. Windy roads are much more fun ( but not to lay out $%Grinno$%) and I try to recreate the way they follow the lie of the land too.

Thanks to all who helped me - I hope to have some farms worthy of this thread soon!

JMyers - your farms are awesome and I'd like to thank you for taking the time to make sure everything downloads correctly and easily.

If anyone cares, the missing texture looked like this!

Now to research all those cool trees and dirt roads.....

Hey everyone,

I think this is my favorite thread of all the SUY's, thanks for creating it mjig.  Everyone has a little something different, from PW to snow to animations, curvy roads, powerlines, green valleys, rivers, quaint farms, villages, trains, lovely trails, fertile fields, WOW, rural is way more interesting the city.

I have been working on a rural tile, and here are some shots of what I have come up with:

Edit: (snuck in one more)

Robertson, named after the Australian town in which the movie Babe was filmed, is a farming village on the first tile of the region of which I hope to be showing you more of in the future, Lord willing and the computer don't seize.  I think I will post the overview on the project thread.  Thanks for looking, and comments and suggestions are welcome.

Bye for now.

Beautiful pictures of your farm-areas, Livin in Sim!

shoreman905

There are some fine looking scenes here.  &apls everyone. I have two shots of my latest endeavor, its name is CAM7-6, I am sure you recognize that it comes from testing.

Some of the lots you see here were created for this particular test.

shoreman905, those are some beautiful farms.  And the diagonal buildings look fantastic.  great work and I love the pictures.  If I could make a suggestion.....build up the land by the rail tracks and use the on slpoe peices to make a bridge, it may look a little better, IMO. &mmm

Robin, thank you for the kind words. If it were my normal playing style, I most likely would have. However, we were supposed to grow as many of JMyers new farms as possible and that layout was put together very rapidly. I just couldn't stand it all without at least CPs farm street mod as well as a few others (having them doesn't affect the game basics). And, I didn't put in the slope mod either, though, you are right and I am for the next round.

rooker1

Sorry, shoreman905, I keep forgetting people are doing the Cam testing and are hurrying through it.  Later if you have time and continue this city as a MD than my suggestion would be good. ::)

shoreman905, the areas you showed us look very good. I really like the use of the diagonal farm lots. Keep up the stellar work!

Hi shoreman. The roadways look nice. What rural street mod(s) are you using? You mention cycledogs farm street mod for one and I am not familiar with it.

Here's one of my rural pictures from my MD.

@Living in Sim: Hi Liv! Are these closeups form the great rurak map that you posted in the SUYA on "the other side"? Great work!  &apls

So here are some rural shots from my actual Betatesting map - more in my MD recent and upcoming update(s):

I hope the size of the pics os okay - they are all raw unchanged screenshots. If necessary I am going to resize them !

Have fun!

Bernhard

That picture is looking fantastic, bigberta!
