Here is where I'll contribute with BSC, on this task on building this nice map without destroying the environment ;)

Excellent. Welcome. Rayden &dance

I cannot wait to see you work Rayden
Welcome and thank you for the support ... let the game begin.
Looks great!
Another rayden challenge.
I ca'n't wait to see more. &hlp

Your drawing is very promissing... looking forward to what you will show us next!
Your photoshopping of that image is pretty flashy (in typical Rayden fashion!). I am defenitely looking forward to what you are gonna pull off!
I know, I know, you might be thinking that he just trown us that photoshoped pic and completely forgot about it. Nope, just been quite busy with RL, as I'm starting my holidays in a couple of days and I had to let everything at work completely done and organized before I left. Also, as some of you already know, I'm leaving in a couple of weeks to my yearly snowtrip to Andorra and still have a lot to prepare. Today I had a little time and patient and completely removed my old Columbus Terrain Mod and had it replaced by the newly CPT Italia Terrain Mod. It looks great, doesn't it  Tonight I'll start minor terraforming actions like making some streams, waterfalls and flora planting. Now, I'll just present you the entire map image, just click the thumbnail.

nice update and the terrain mod too.
Enjoy your holidays and come back safe ;)
:satisfied:
Very insane map ;D Have a great holiday Rayden ;)
Great map. Looking forward to the minor terraforming additions ;)
Well, I haven't done much today, but so do you, it looks like I'm not the only only under the effects of too much booze or sleepless. Here is some of the minor terraforming details I meant.

I also have to bring the snow line a tiny bit down. I need to go over again with the Thalassicus tutorial and files to do so.
Which Italia snow mod are you using? cycledogg did a special one for me to lower the snow line for a different region. I can't use it on this as it would ALL be snow with the changes I made.
I'm using this one - CPT_No6_zzItaliaTerrainController_LowerSnowPatch.dat
Nice start - I really like that little river you've made. ;)
That river and valley are totally awesome Rayden! The trees in the rapids give it a very idyllic look. &apls
Very nice river!
i think the snow line looks just fine, can't wait to see more
A couple more teasing shots before I start showing some building work.

wow those are excellent shots so much great detail to see,you allways do such amazing work my friend
Lovely landbridge there. Can't wait to see what you make of the map once you start building
Very beautiful. You really deserve a good holiday after this! Enjoy it.
Nice shots of the bridge
Very nice work with the ploppable water and rocks Rayden.
It is quite tricky to make that stuff look realistic and yours looks great.
Well, with the new NAM out I had to make a quick clean-up on my plugins folder, something were going wrong, now it's ok. I took the chance as well to change the terrain and rock mods too. Here is the final result. I also started the first quad of the map. I will have some close-ups soon.
This is the continuation of the stream, on the valley (city 2).

That is a lovely valley and a great start to the region!
The continuation of the stream looks very beautiful and the rural area in the valley looks wonderful!

awww yeah i love snowboarding too, no trip for me this year, but hopefully with some increased penny pinching i can make it out to Whistler next february or so.
post some pics of your trip when you get back and have fun.
ps this is my favorite shosaloza map so far, very tasteful
Great valley Rayden!
I wonder how you get from that valley over the mountains.
I remember on Simtropolis there was a CJ were they described how to build a hidden tunnel which might go right through mountains to the next map. I think they used a hole digger and a special overhanging lot to cover the hole.
But I am not sure. I am looking forward if you are going to try that.
Nik-Nik
Outstanding work Rayden!! &apls Oh by the way... I still love playing mortal kombat! :D
Silvio, you can't hide from me by playing Shootzawhatsis.
...not with work this beautiful...
I know you're having a great time on your vacation, my friend, but I'm rooting for the calendar to hurry up and bring you back so that we can see more of this.

I'm back, thanks guys for the compliments and Alek for the good wishes. Here is a pic of my vacations, one of over 400 and some movies. I'll try to post some of them on a different thread. About this Shosaloza game, I already have some more pics tken and I'll be posting them sometime today, after I pass them through the Photoshop.

See you later guys
hey cool those mountains look quite spectacular, the snow cover looks a bit thin, i hear europe has had a bad year if you like it cold and snowy. The weather is such a wild card when planning a trip since u have to plan so far ahead to get a good price, u never can predict the snow conditions. (unless u are lucky enough to live close by ;)
I remember going to Utah once in January after hearing about how great the snow is supposed to be, the fist day was alright, snowed a little maybe 6-8cm, but the rest of the week was almost hot. You could ride in a long sleeve t-shirt.
Quotehey cool those mountains look quite spectacular, the snow cover looks a bit thin
hehe Alex, For a second, I thought you were talking about the last region shot :D
Rayden, That last Region Census view shot is just excellent.
Great choice of terrain and tree mods.
The snow line looks great too!
You're right Alek, the snow wasn't that great this year (20 to 40 cm thick max). Compared to last year where the min thick was 90cm up to 1,50 mts, and most of the time we were off piste carving the soft snow. This year we had to stick with the very few open slopes, but nevertheless, it was great anyway, special the nights ;) Well, I'll write a bit more about this in another thread later. Now for the first big update of my Shosaloza game.

Thanks for the compliments. About the railyard, no, this one is about 1/5 of the size of the other. The other one was from my Little Italy CJ over at Simtropolis. That reminds me that I have to bring it over here, one of these days, hopefully. And also Els Pirineus and New Haven and Sierra Blanca. Gee, I got so many games going on. $%Grinno$%

Great to have you back Silvio!
Pity there was not much snow. You must be a bit upset looking at the current weather forcast in Europe (snow, snow, snow!).
Tunnel:
So the entrance and exit are on the same tile. That is good for you. No inventive and difficult things to do there then!
Nice water rural tower on the second pic.
What's that building with the green roof in the fifth pic?
Those houses in the sixth pic. Very nice slope friendly work! Especially the green roofed one on top of the slope. Very good!
Both Mosaics are great!!

That rail yard is a beauty!

Thx Nik-Nik for the compliments. How's the kids, still watching you playing? ;)
Of course, I have high expectations for this rural experiment.
Yet again, I have been bowled over by the mighty RAYDEN $%#Ninj2. It almost seems too easy for you....
Wish you more snow next year, I had a similar disappointment on a mountaineering trip last year... snow near the summit in July... all week!
Catch you later...
Wonderful farms and great rail yard!
Lots of diversity here, very nice. Do you also make your own lots?
Lovely mosaics Rayden. I like how you've incorporated Mickebear/Barby's med industrials and farms into the picture. It looks great!

You're too kind my friend, but I'm glad you like it. I really hope so too about the snow for next year, otherwise I will have to ask David for some of his snow $%Grinno$%

Thanks for your kindness. I do some lotting once in a while, mostly filler lots when I need something specific to fill a gap somewhere. ;)

Wonderful railway! Great city! Fantastic overview!
Quote from: Rayden on January 24, 2007, 04:52:14 AMThx Nik-Nik for the compliments. How's the kids, still watching you playing? ;)
Thanks for the links. The one of Onlyplace4 was viewed at first to be one of the wild west series. So I ignored it. Bad for me (I did that too with a beatiful barn that Darmok send me to). The other one I considered as more of the same. How wrong can one be...
Kids are doing great. Still getting frustrated when Daddy wants to play on the PC. Thank God I have another older PC in the basement as it is a bout time the kids have their own PC (the beginning of the end, I know, I know).
Great update (almost didn't notice as I was to entwined in answering your 'kids'question.
Love the mosaics.
Those fences next to the railway. Good thinking, they look very good there.
Those 1x1 playground lots, are they your own work, or did I miss again something?
One thing to nag, third picture. Did you notice theer is a tree in front of the station's parking entrance? Sometimes when using jeronij's street mod you need to plop some streets before you get the right trees at the right places. Come to think of it and looking better at your picturs I do not think you use Jeronij's street mod do you?
Your curfews are very nice!!!

I know what you mean, I spent last year 1400 euros on a laptop, so, my daughter could Messenging everyone, without stopping me from playing SC4 $%Grinno$%
No, they're not my work. I'll get you a link later on.
You're being picky, ain't you? Can't you see that is a security measure from the town council, to put a tree in from of every exit, to avoid people to speed up into the roads and cause accidents? "$Deal"$ $%Grinno$% Yeah, you're right, Jeronij's and Andreas Roth's street mods don't care if there 's an exit or similar before they place a tree, car space or even some trash in front of them. And you're right, I'm using now Andrea's Street Mod because it doesn't put so many trees on the sides. Maybe Jeronij's could make a second version more light on tree's density, coz I really love his Street Mod.
Anyway, thanks for commenting my work and see ya later my friend. :)
Nice!
Those are a couple of beautiful mosiacs.
Many details caught my eye, and a couple stand out.
The sidewalk texture you are using looks real good.
I have seen it used elsewhere a few times, but you really make it look good.
The other thing that caught my eye was your use of retaining walls.
I am a big fan of walls, and you have a great balance of not too many, and not too few.
Great update, Thanks for sharing it with us!

Just a question: the last picture of mosaic one is not showing for me. The last weeks I have a lot of pictures not showing up in MD's. Is there anything special to that picture that might cause this? #?¿?¿?$
Strange, it does show everything in here. I use Firefox or IExplorer, and both shows all the pictures. Also, I store my pictures on my own server, which I can't remember having had a break ever. Try to empty your temporary internet files folder. In Firefox I don't know how to do it, but on IExplorer, go to Tools, Internet Options, then, on the General tab you have on the middle section 3 options, Delete Cookies, Delete Files and Settings. Choose Delete Files. Thanks for dropping by and commenting.
It shows now

I'll be back tomorrow...
Very nice pictures Rayden. The B&W one is funny
What a like very much about your little mosaïque is that it seems as if your city grows: from Industrial outskirts, via green residential areas, to a little more dense, ending with midsize apartmentbuildings. Very interesting! &apls
Many pictures for a "small" update! :)
great mosaic and fantastic work!
Thoroughly enjoyable, Rayden! You've a great mix of Bats which make totally unique viewing!
yes, those buildings complement each other well  keep up the good work!
Great stuff Silvio.
In the mosaic I like the placement of the rural station next to the industrial liot where the line ends. Good thinking.
I like the use of the walls in your CJ.
Great work.
Nik-Nik
That looks great Rayden  The sidewalk mod looks awesome ;)
Very nice pictures Rayden, I love the mosaic and the church in the rain picture is great
Hey Sylvio, I'm now at page 3 of 4, what I've seen so far is really good!
If I had to be picky, (and being my obnoxious self...) I'd say that the ONLY thing that bugs me is the somewhat steep retaining walls on some pics, besides that I simply like the natural atmosphere of the place, and you can count on me for regular visits!
More comments tomorrow, my lunch break's over!
Regards
-John
I have two questions ...
1. Where is the church ruins from ?
2. Where is the cobblestone retaining walls from ?
You did a great job here.

Same goes to everyone else that has comment lately. Sorry if I'm answering in general but time is short right now. John, I'm really glad to see around here, it's just a pity you haven't brought AVR with you, but if you promise to start something similar around here, I'll forgive you and start trusting bearded men ;D
Crappers, that is a nice set of pictures!
I really like the mix of different styles of shots.
The sepia tone one expecially caught my eye.
And the night shots near the end of your update look real good too.
All in all a great update. Thanks for sharing it!
This is not an update, but more like a preview of the next one. I've spent part of the day today, plopping roads, tunnels and bridges, connecting most of the region quads. I'll takes some shots later of some typically winding mountain roads, land bridges and tunnel entrances. There will be also some pics of the new small village located on the northwest shore of the lake.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Frayden.zftp.com%2Fsc4%2Fshosaloza%2Fshosaloza_terrain3_thumb.jpg&hash=75476a24c8d5a3555d69584b5cff6472504c6824) (http://rayden.zftp.com/sc4/shosaloza/shosaloza_terrain3.jpg)
See ya later ;)
Interesting how the mountains are forcing most of us to follow roughly the same routes. ;)
That narrow sea side road must be great to drive on it. Wonder if you can show us that in You Drive it mode?
Great pic, lots of tunnel projects. Make it a double lane tunnel, you know what happened here in St. Gotthart and Mnt. Blanc Tunnel only a few years ago.
Nik-Nik
Indeed Colyn. Nik-Nik, short tunnels were done with single lanes (road), longer ones, I used double lanes (avenue). I'll be showing that a bit later. Now, the update, the little village by the lake (50,000 pop) $%Grinno$%
I won't do any comment about them, I'll leave that with you ;)

Just a final note, 99% has grow, the only things plopped were civic services, the train station, the stadium and a couple of dinners/fast food shops.
nice update but the roof texture on that white and green building is very flat.
I know, but there is nothing I can do except demolish it. Maybe I can do something on the LotEditor, and put some roof-junk to disguise that a bit.
Very nice update, I really like how you have built your city between the river, the mountains and the sea. Also a nice mix of buildings.
As promised, here is the images of my network layout across the mountains
First, an overview, click to enlarge.

to the first update: wonderful city at the river! Great plobbable water using!
to the second update: wonderful using with roads!
You're coastroads are a vacationers dream... very nicely done. The gasstation is placed very realistic
:o Lovely roads!!! They look awesome!! &apls
The roads are very picturesque Rayden well done!
Yep, fantastic road network there Rayden; very picturesque - I look forward to seeing how the development goes on this! :)
Great ... what is this .... please.

Rayden,
the little town at the lake is a masterpiece, I love the way you used ploppable water/Land bridge and the way the water ends into the lake. Brilliant stuff.
Nice to see all those grown houses. Very nice station in that town. Never seen it before.
Second update.
I love that sea side road. You made it well. I guess in the tunnel there will be some traffic lights too, did you notice that they can be hardly seen when exiting the tunnel in pic 3! LOL.
From the looks of the amount of engineering needed to make the tunnels and the sea side road with all the bridges you must ahve an impressive Engineering College in one of your towns.
I guess there must be a holiday hotel somewhere as the scenic drive along the coast line will attract numerous tourists. ;D

It's another of the master pieces of my friend Andreas, or Royal &Thk/(, the SFBT ARAL Gas Station by Royal. Link
here (http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=17155)
@Nik-Nik - The station, I think I saw it the first time at AVR, I'll try to find the link for you. :)
Hi rayden,
first of all, compliments for tour work on this beautiful region!! very nice pictures indeed!!!
do you know where I can find the train station in this picure, I've some problem finding some decent terminal stations (are in english called that way???):
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Frayden.zftp.com%2Fsc4%2Fshosaloza%2Fcity7_4.jpg&hash=60fd70dda83de1e3b32c197687c7fcbd6fec558d)
Thanks ... got it ...
Itis Japanese station ... I have permission to release it and a translated English version will come to the LEX as soon as I am done with Shosaloza.
@ Nik-Nik and Meldolion - Here is the link (http://hide-inoki.com/bbs/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=388)
Make sure you download, besides the station, the two download links above that image. They're called "HaS_Props.dat" and "HaS_Advertisement.dat". The other one bellow the station download link, is a gmax model where you can input an advertise image that will be shown in those two advertise boards between the rail lines at the station boarding area. If you look at my image, they are there but not showing anything, as I did forget to dowload one of those files above :-[
Or wait for Colyn to release an english version of it, with instructions and necessary dependencies. ;)
Just a teaser image, coz I didn't had time today to play very much. I'll try to bring something better tomorrow.

Stupid question maybe ... maybe not ... but how do you force that bridge over dryland ?
That trick I learned with our friend David (3RR). Here's a link (http://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=36&threadid=74819&STARTPAGE=9#798857) to his tutorial at Simtropolis. I hope he brings some of his tutorials back here one of these days ;)
I will take some quick shots how's done later today.
Hola Sylvio,
What a good looking update my friend!
The pic that got my attention is #3! WOW.... &apls
I really like how you've done the transition between ploppable and ingame wAnd ater, also liked the great variety in the trees! Very credible!
Very cold here this morning!
Hoping you have a more temperate weather than us these days!
We're freezing our b..ts humm behinds...
Take care my friend!
John
Thx John, it's nice to see you around. Here it's already 13:00 hours and indeed, it's quite warm (+/- 14ºC). I'm thinking on going for a bike ride this afternoon. Thx for your visit and comments. See ya in AVR ;)
Cheers
silvio
Super transportation update Rayden.
The road along the coast is very cool, really well done.
Well, while waiting that David brings some of his tutorials over here, I decided to make a quick one and show the ones that still don't know, how to build a bridge over dry land. The secret is, that dry land it's not entirely "dry" ;)
For this tutorial and to achieve the final result, the bridge over dry land, you will need the Teirusu's Rain Mod. The name of the Rain Mod it's "Extra Terrain Tools" and can be found in here (http://www.simtropolis.com/idealBB/files/ExtraTerrainTools2.zip)

This picture now, shows how meticulous I am. Most of the times, the end of the bridge it's not levelled with the rest of the bridge/road. Usually I plop a single street tile, right on that tile next to the bridge. See the red circle. It immediately levels the road with the bridge.

This image shows some of the steps I do to plop winding roads across the mountain surface. I always use the street tiles, and with single tiles I keep Zig-Zagging, trying to follow the terrain incidences. When you do a zag and it shows that boring red message saying unsuitable terrain or similar, just zig it again. :P
I hope you all understand how to buid a bridge over dry land, and have a look as well at David's tutorial about it. He has a different approach, more detailed and also full of humour ;D You can find it here (http://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=36&threadid=74819&STARTPAGE=9#798857).
See you guys later.
PS. If a mod wants to copy paste this tutorial to a more convenient place, like the tutorials thread, be my guest ;)
Thankyou for the tutorial Rayden. I never knew that you needed the rain tool to do this. Interesting.
Thanks a lot ... I gotthe Rain Tool now and will surely use it. ... Just a pity this not in the Tutorials "$Deal"$ section ... but I hop Jeroni will move it there. :)
I'll ask David to do it. Perhaps to put together, mine and his tutorial in one single tutorial, "How to do a Land Bridge". ;)
Great and useful tutorial! Wonderful pictures

That's it for tonight, I'll be back tomorrow with another "small" update ;)
...as well as what???Quote
First, a little mosaic...
That a great really great stupendous magnificent incredible awe-inspiring unbelievable transcendent mommajamma def ...
...
That's the mosaic, Silvio. Just like your take on Shosaloza is the take. And there's great competition.
David
Good stuff ... I am so sorry I did not understand the landbridges when I started ... :( ... in anycase .... tell me that tunnel ... from where is that ... is it one of those peices that switch to underground rail ?
@David - You don't come here very often, but when you do so, you really crack me down :D Thx for the compliments David, you know how important they are to me ;)
@ - Colyn - That tunnel is one of the pieces of the Big Dig Project by Blahdy and you can find it here (http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?page=1&keyword=blahdy&type=all)
The piece then is connected with subway, as is the only way you can connect two city quads via underground. Tunnels don't connect them, not yet, maybe in SimCity5.
And what's that all about you don't understand on the land bridge tutorial? &mmm
Thanks ... I was wondering .... and do you run a dual subway under the ground ? ... 2 paralelle lines ?
Nope, that piece is connected by dragging a subway. It converts the road traffic on subway traffic. Dragg it until the end of the map and connect it to the other city. Open the other city, go to the connection and drag the subway line to the place where you want plop another Blahdy's piece, so, it converts back the subway traffic to road traffic.
Looking good Rayden! Great "small" update! And thanks for making this an educational experience too. :P
Thanks Marius. Btw, your post just made this original picture
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg475.imageshack.us%2Fimg475%2F5784%2Fshosalozacapicuakj0.jpg&hash=ee55d9ce9c3ea6c4cea329f1882f28e26d752b07)
You just stroke two "capicua" numbers on the same post. "Capicua" in english, I believe it's know by "palindromes" [linkie (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palindromes)], and it means a number that can be read equally from left to right or vice-versa. In some countries it's means good luck.
Ooooooooh! That is interesting and rather peculiar. :P Well, then let's hope it means good luck to you!
Thanks for highlighting something that would have otherwise gone unnoticed! ;)
A very handy tutorial and great and wonderful pictures.
Great tunnel! Wonderful development on the roads and fantastic seafront!
Thanks guys. Here's a teaser from quad D1, that's the one I'm working on right now. Some more pics later.

First of all: I appologize for being to lazy to haul myself over to this part of the forum. Your work is AMAZING, RayDen! I don't know where to start, but your dedication to ahiving realism in a really hard-to-build environment is far beyond anything I thought would be possible.

Wonderful tunnel Rayden!!! Do you know if there is some way to do similar with rail?
you never cease to amaze me with your wonderful developments!!!!
Great work

Thanks Emilin, that was very kind of you. I always try to get things to look as real as possible, and when not, I'll find a way to disguise that flaws. ;)

Yes it is possible. I believe there is somewhere at the STEX one or two connection lots like that. It transforms rail transit into subway transit.
Thanks for dropping by and leave such nice comment. :)
Great picture, wonderful little town with farms!
Thanks bat. I went back to quad B1 while the other still needs to grow a little. This is not yet the update, but some random images of a new small village.
This is a small industrial park view from above the mountains.

A side note, since Barbye has achieved the goal of this experiment, looks like most of the people have abandon or lost interest on their own experiments. For me, this has been more than an experiment, and if I will still look for that goal, that won't be my primary one. There is still a lot of terrain to develop and it will take a while until I finish it. But, being this the BSC thread, I've noticed that not many people come over here, or have even noticed that there is some real gems over here.
Being so, I would like a mod or an admin to move this thread to the Mayors Diary as I will continue to play it, and where I would certainly have a most wider audience. I need it, so I don't loose interest and keep playing this beautiful map.
Thanks in advance
Silvio (aka Rayden)
A fantastic industrial park you have built there!
C'est beauu!!I looove! ;)
looks really good. great work
Nope ... we did not loose interest ... it is an Experiment in a way but not a competition ... I just have a lot of RL issues at the moment ... my Region is on around 700k Sims.
Rayden, I have been reading your updates: you are doing a great job here. I really love the whole atmosphere that you bring in. Every thing is just matching perfectly together. Great job! &apls
I'm glad this will be ongoing Rayden... I've really like what you've done!!
Lovely updates Rayden! I definitely haven't lost interest in your experiment or mine - I have built the region to a little over 600K, but I have had mega RL (all good) over the last 3-4 weeks. I must say, I love that long shot down the mountain &apls

Rayden thank you very much for the links. patiently waiting to see the new updates - pat

Your industrial area(s) are very well made, and I like the overall look of your images.
That is a nice jail ... where are the walls from ?
Rayden that was simply amazing great work. I so loved the mosaic and I so am looking forward to see what you have in store for the next updates. - Pat
A realistic looking prison. Very nice! You don't see that too often in this game.
Beautiful detail in the prison shots Rayden.
I loved you last mosaic. I notice you used the sweeping rail curves a few times.
Thats about the best use of those I've seen yet.
I love your industrial areas, they look so realistic and free of ugly maxis industies
I noticed you found mk's convenience stores. I love those things. They are great 1*1 fillers and can really soak up CS demand with some modding

Great update. I like how you use your buildings with a good number of parking lots. May sound kind of dumb, but I think it adds to the realism. Everything looks perfectly placed, great job.

It's probably because in summer, sometimes I spend half-hour going around to find a place for my car when going to work or back home. ;)
Yah, I know what you mean, it sound like down town Toronto where I use to live. Finding parking is sometimes impossible or very expensive.
Great stuff ... hopefully once the BSC players have sorted out the LEX uploads we will all be able to proceed with our Shosaloza postings ... I am close to a million SIms but needs some fance planning to getthe last 200k in ;)

Thx Colyn, I'll keep an eye on the BSC Shosaloza place and all the other Shosaloza Experiments, including yours of course. ;)
@Jeronij - Muchissimas gracias amigo
@Everyone - Specially for the ones that have never stepped into this MD, it has been running for quite a while as part of an experiment in the BSC part of the forum. Together with this, several others were started. It's worth having a look at them, very great stuff in there, some of them with unique and yet unreleased content. You can find that thread in here (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?board=89.0).
About mine, from now on, it will be shown in here as a regular MD. Thanks to all BSC members for letting me and other non-BSC members to participate on that experiment. &apls
I'll leave you this random shot and go to prepare a proper update ;)

This explains a lot. No wonder I couldn't find it, never thought of going to the BSC forum. And by the time I thought to click on the link, well...
Glad it's over here now. Just finished with the whole thing and I'm rather full and sleepy. It's just too much of a good thing all at once. In a wonderful way.
...Who's this Silvio/Rayden guy and why should I bother looking at one more...
HOLY MACKEREL! LOOKIT THAT! AND THAT! AND THAT! AND THERE'S PAGES OF IT!
. . .
Welcome, Silvio, to MDland. It's about time you showed up.
David
Wow great pictures !
very cool pictures i enjoy your cj quite a lot.

Well, it's with great satisfaction that I see that my MD had more views in the last couple of hours, than during all week, "buried" where it was. I'm really glad I decided to bring it over here. Anyway, even seeing that people hang in here a lot more than anywhere else in this forum, I want to tell all of you, that along with this MD, others were, even greater than mine. There is a lot of good "MDs" at the BSC thread, right here (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?board=89.0).
Now, and with no more chit-chat, here's the update (beware, heavy image update (nearly 30 images)
First lets have a look at the region grid to find the place where I am now, quad B2, and from where this update was taken.

Seriously fantastic mosaic and images, and glad to see that you are still enjoying this amazing map! Loved evry bit of it. &apls
Yep, I'd say that's a proper update. More to the point, I'd simply say it's amazing.
BTW, I think that the mall you showed in the second pic is the first time I've ever seen anyone use that lot. The third pic, too, is an amazing use of custom content.
Can't wait to see more!
EDIT - Okay, I looked at the last pic, and it freaked me out when it went from daytime to night... but after I realized that was meant to be like that....
What, no stars?
...I got 5 or so around here somewhere...
There, that's better.

Nice "little" mosaic, Silvio. Of course, I'm sure you're just showing us the good stuff in the first...ummm, eight pages, and this will go back to being ordinary very soon...NOT!
David
Outstanding work! That mosaic is beautiful, I don't know how you do it without the seams between pictures. Great job!
Rayden, that looks awesome. The cycleways are definitely very well-integrated into your city.
Plenty of eye-candy, for sure!
Proper update............that was fantastic. The mosaic was huge. I love seeing mosaics, cause you get to see the city lay out and how others perceive how a city should be organized. Great work. &apls
QuoteThe usual "small" mosaic... Grin No

mattb325Yeah, I'm still enjoying this map. Since New Haven and Els Pirineus Cjs at Simtropolis that I didn't went that far in a region. I'm going to finish it no matter what, and them bring back Little Italy from Simtropolis to here.
Anyway, I'm here now but I'll keep an eye over the other thread at BSC Plays the Game.
meinhosenHey "soldier" nice to see you here. Yes, that's the Lloyd Center, I love that lot but it brings a lot of crime. Stats must be fixed, but by someone with modding knowledge, not me ;)

It's always a pleasure to see you here and read your posts. Thx David, and for the * * * * * as well
thundercrack83Thanks mate for the compliment. About the mosaic images, just write the images links one bellow the other. Make sure each line doesn't have any blank space after the last bracket "]" and press return right after it. If you quote my update, you can see exactly how I have done.
Shadow AssassinHey nice to see you around here. I think that last time you comment at one of my CJs was in Little Italy at Simtropolis. Thanks mate :)
Cycleways, well, I guess I have been looking carefully at John's (Darmok) AVR updates and his cycleways, actually those are his lots.
rooker1Hey, one of the most regulars over here, nice to see you found me back in here now. ;) Thx for the compliments.
batAnother regular visitant. Do you think that is big, but I'm sure you've seen bigger already. I once did one with 103 images and this one [
linkie (http://rayden.zftp.com/sc4/littleitaly/seaport_complete.jpg)] it's more or less the size of a medium city quad.
kwakelaarThank you my friend for the compliment. "Tot ziens" ;)
I'll have the afternoon free tomorrow, and I'll see if I can bring up another update. See you guys later.
Cheers
Silvio (Rayden)
EDIT: I guess I forgot some replies on between my two posts from yesterday/today
petercintnYes, it began as an experiment but now it will do as an MD. Like you said, many people thought the same, no one thought of finding some great MDs at the BSC thread, usually BSC means lots, bats, all that great content we all use and love, not MDs. ;)

Adriano57Hey, welcome to my MD, and thanks for the compliments. I hope you have enjoyed what you saw so far. :)
Alek King of SC4Just look at that, if is not the greatest AK. Nice to see you around my friend. Thanks a lot for your comment. Have you waxed your board already? If you have a chance, don't waste it, just go for it. If I had the snow you all have on that parts of your country, I wouldn't miss a chance ;)
You asked for some photos of Andorra, I still haven't had time to sort them out. Here's one

Soon I will get them sorted and I will open at The Artist's Place, a thread about my different snow trips so far.
I think that's all for now

really nice update ! love all the pics , and your works !!
Love the mall zone !
Just a side note:
In just about 22 hours, this thread had 18 posts and 100 views, more than twice it had during the last 2 weeks. Thanks everyone, I won't disappoint you, for sure :)
Wonderful MD. You have created a masterpiece! I'm going to turn off my Maxis buildings.
QuoteI guess I have been looking carefully at John's (Darmok) AVR updates and his cycleways, actually those are his lots.
Indeed, he's made them famous. I might have to point out... (link) (http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=15534) -- See who's the creator? :P Just a little correction. :P
Don't worry, I'll post here from time to time.
Sorry mate, I didn't even look to check that, and as I knew that this [linkie (http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=16118)] belongs to him, I've assumed that the other's were his creations too ;)
Thanks for pointing that out, what a lame I was &ops :P
Nice picture. I assume that is you and you snowboard. I love to ski. I wish there was a mountain around me like that.
I can't wai to see your next update.......hopefully it's soon. ;)
Thanks for the tip on the mosaic, and I love the snowboarding picture!
Nice to see Rayden that you moved it to the MD section.
Missed 4 pages though, so I have some catching up to do.
Looking forward to those and more pics, but for now. Have a great weekend!
Nik-Nik
Being away for just 2 weeks I am glad I found back your project as a MD here. You had some great updates again. The mosaïc is just awesome
Guess what: A few minutes after your 300th post in 3RR I make mine here...
Yes, thanks for the mosiac lesson. &apls
You see,
Here's the deal. I haven't quite figured it out yet, but I will try to explain it a little. While perusing other MD's and CJ's, I notice that a lot of the urban areas have a frantic, busy, extreme look to them.
I find nothing more relaxing in this SC4 atmosphere to browse your images. Your city images are most impressive, and the mosiac is fabulous (even that may be an understatement). Once again, your helicopter must be just about out of gas from that last flight.
Originally, with the map, I was a little disappointed with the compressed Mt. Robson (the primary mountain), however, I look at this map and project from a different light when you are the author.
I hope I have a ticket for the next ride!
WOW great work

KokopelliThanks for your comments and welcome to my humble MD. Turning off Maxis buildings it's a good idea, specially the low and median wealth ones. Keep the dirty industry and manufacturing ones and get rid of the HighTech buildings. "$Deal"$ Read the readme carefully. ;)
Shadow AssassinSorry mate for the lame assumption :P Thanks for pointing that out and for your comments and visit. ;)
rooker1Yes, you assumed that right, the guy in the picture it's indeed this old crazy guy. I wish there was mountain like that too near by, but unfortunately it takes me some 15 hours driving to get there. That's why I only snowboard once or twice a year maximum. Thanks for dropping by again and I hope you enjoy my newest update right bellow.

And now, another mosaic, made from two images only, but one from each quad, B1 and B2. If you don't know what is the quads or the Bs, look at my region grid picture in here (http://rayden.zftp.com/sc4/shosaloza/shosaloza_grid.jpg).
This mosaic is to show the major city of my region with which I reach finally the 200.000 sims.(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Frayden.zftp.com%2Fsc4%2Fshosaloza%2Fshosaloza_200k.jpg&hash=0e76328219652d2c116965ccb986e08a5d68b830)
Now you can ask, how the heck did he joined two images from different cities without being noticed where the junction of the pictures is $%Grinno$%
And to finalize, a touch of art...(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Frayden.zftp.com%2Fsc4%2Fshosaloza%2Fcityb2_teaser2.jpg&hash=3878822b13e20619c8710e32a4bd0a19f4810f73)
I think that's all for now.

I have one thing to say : WOOOOOOOOOOOOW
I don't know how you manage to do this. Excellent towns that blends perfectly with a very difficult terrain. High level of detail, but at the same time a fairly fast development of big areas. You are a genious! &apls
I know one of the goals of the Shosaloza project was integration of city onto terrain, keeping the terrain as natural as possible. For the "Rayden's Shosaloza" project, looking natural is kind of an understatement... a slap in the face! It seems as though you are playing SimCity 5. How did you get the advance copy?
This looks very natural, and with 200k now, mission accomplished!
But..... If I know Rayden/Silvio, this project has lots of steam left in it, and won't be completed anytime soon. It must feel great at the "end" of a great project like this (and Little Italy, Andorra - although they are not necessarily "done" per se) as it must feel like you have completed a work of art rather than a city in SC4. At least that's how I interpret it.
Anyways, always glad to see this MD shine brightly!
Ah great stuff Silvio!
To quote Besku: "Anyways, always glad to see this MD shine brightly!"
I noticed that a lot of lots do not have the nightlighting! Did you get everything needed for that from the Maxis website?
It's either that or you have a serious powerfailure without the power zots showing LOL.
Nik-Nik
I did enjoy the last update. I really like the shape of the city in the valley. Very conforming, if that's a good description. Great work.
Another great update! I love the last picture, what you called art, but I would say that all you work is art! Also, I don't know about anyone else, but I would be very happy if you did a mosaic tutorial! Keep up the good work!
Hola Silvio,
superb work in those last updates amigo, really liked the pics with the BigDig pieces, and as usual your mosaics are top notch!
I really like how you nestled your towns in between those mountains, really good work my friend!
Can't wait for more...

Wow that's beautiful. SO MANY BAT'S! i don't have the paicence to download all that!
Rayden, Your right, I did't turn them all off. I really wanted to get rid of the Maxis commercial buidings. I actually like those Maxis Victorian houses. Great up date by the way.
very nice update, your playing that region well. ;D
Wow, Rayden ... I love that city by the stream ... really, really beautiful, and obviously very meticulously constructed. I am in awe. &apls

That is one excellent job of building in the valley in a way that looks very natural and realistic.

Now that you mentioned, I think there is a problem, maybe a conflict with any other plugin. I've reinstalled the game, got every update there is (SKU1, Bat, Bat Update, LE, bldgprop_vol1 and 2), and it's still the same. Any clues what can it be?
Just for testing, can anyone mention a custom lot (recent one with good nightlighting) so, I can see if it works or not. What I have noticed is that some of the older lots, those they have night lights &Thk/(
Do you have the update to download from maxis? i think that would make lights or mabye a missing dependency...

Well, I suspected for quite a while I had something wrong with my game. I used to see some nightshots from others MDiers and use to wish mine could be as good as them. I only tought that could be some software/hardware modifications/settings, different from mines, so, I never gave them too much attention, until Nik-Nik pointed that out. Since yesterday, I've uninstalled the game 3 times, went several times to the Ea site to download the updates, Bat, LE, bldgprops, etc. Nothing worked. During the night, I managed to get a pirate copy from the net, installed and it worked. So, during the afternoon, I went to the shop and bought I new copy of Simcity 4 Deluxe Edition. Now I have, the full collection of Simcities. From the Classic to the SC4 Deluxe (including SC4 Original, SC4 Rush Hour and now, SC4 Deluxe). But now, you might be wondering, what was wrong. The only good explanation I came up with is, when SC4 come out early 2003, I wanted badly to have the game immediately, so, instead of waiting until it arrived in Portugal, which happen 3 months later, I ordered mine from the UK. Later in 2004, the expansion Rush Hour came out in Portugal, so, I bought here. Looks like both versions are not fully compatible. I found that during the upgrades. If I upgrade the SC4 Original, it used the European upgrade, SKU2... if I'm not mistaken, and my version of the Rush Hour, uses the other upgrade, SKU1... Either way, I always had some error reports during upgrades, like, "old file was not found, but one with the same name. No upgrade was made, as the content of that file was different from the old one". Like that, the upgrade was compromised. With the new Deluxe, I ran the European upgrade, it went cleaned, then ran the Bat installer, the BAt update and the LE installer, copied the backup folders Regions, albuns and Plugins, and voilá, night lights on all its explendor...
Nik-Nik, you're my heroe ()flower()

Yeah, nightlights! No more rolling up the streets at dark. Rayden's Shosaloza is now 24/7!
...just wait, though, 'til jeroni sends you your first power bill, Silvio...
Great pics. Much easier to see, too.

Lovely updates Rayden, great to see the 'let there be light shots' ::) :D
Oh man...my night lighting is horrible too. I just bought a new copy of SC4 Deluxe recently because I needed a new serial number to get the stuff from the Maxis website. I downloaded all the updates on the site, but usually have about half of my night lights work. Does that mean I need to do what you did? Because honestly, my brain did a somersault inside my head reading what you were describing

Make sure you download the right SKU# update and pay attention to any message that shows up. If it says that it did not upgrade a file because of its content, then you're running the wrong update. Try another one. After that install the bat prog, its update, LE, and to make sure, even if you already have the bldgprop files, download then again. At the end, find the SC4 exe file (it should be at your program files/maxis/simcity 4 deluxe/apps/ folder and right-click on it to see its properties. Your version should be 1.1.640.0. If it shows only 1.1.610.0, it's because you already have the EP1 update, but you haven't updated yet your bat prog.
Bellow you can see two screenies with the updates needed and one with the final version. This is only for the Deluxe versions.

()stsfd() wow, I never thought this night light bug could creep on an experienced player like yourself Silvio. ::)
Thank you for dedicating the update to me, I feel &blush
The game does improve doesn't it?
I like to build during the day, but at night I like to wander through my towns (no one is aware that the mayor is skulking around at night) and enjoy the wonderfull night lighting some of the bats out there have; Hard rock café is great, Madonna in Concert is now something else (for me the nightlighting was the reason to download this one).
The stadium....wow great shot! The sunken shopping malls etc. etc. etc.
Did you btw notice the roof of the stadium? I didn't know that the roof could close too until I saw your update. It's about time that I get it as this is a unique one, where did you get it?
As for the rest of the update: I guess that laveder farmer is quite pissed off as early snow fell took him unaware. I hope the damaage will not be eto extensive for him ;) Maybe better for him to move to the valley floor.
I am glad to be of help (even if it was a hell of a job for you to get it right)

Oh, you did help alright, and that hell of a job was enjoyable considering what I gained in the end ;) Now the stadium, that's an oldie, but very nice. It's the OitaStadium and can be found in
here (http://hide-inoki.com/bbs/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=505&sid=d25be6162d06a0db1adc122c152359ec) Don't forget to download the two prop/texture packs above the picture of the stadium. Oh, and I did knew about the retracting roof, that's why on the overview picture, I waited until it close to take the shot
Cheers
Silvio
EDIT: I strongly advice the ones that came straight to this page, to visit the previous one before leaving. My mote is if you have to lurk, at least do it properly :P
WOW! Outstanding pictures! I love all the stadiums and arenas, particularly the one with the retractable roof. I didn't know that that was possible. Great job!

Are they on? Did that do it?

Yeah, nightlights! No more rolling up the streets at dark. Rayden's Shosaloza is now 24/7!
...just wait, though, 'til jeroni sends you your first power bill, Silvio...
Great pics. Much easier to see, too.

Thanks David, I think so too about see them easier now, it's not dark anymore. :D

If any of our great batters in here would care to transform this nice models in proper SC4 Bats, feel free to ask, and I'll send or put this models for download.
That's all for now, see you guys later.
Silvio (aka Rayden)
I eventually have to get that nightlight update. Never found the chance to though. Those stadiums are incredible. I'm an ok BATer but for those works of art I'd find someone amazing. Very nice though ;D
What a super useful update.
I think I have the same issue. My lights aren't all on.
Hey! I'm talking about the game, not real life!! :D
Thanks for the info Rayden, I'm gonna check this out further.
That recent screenshot, with the animation....WOW!
Super cool :satisfied:
Phil
I think talk to Jeronij aboutthose models and let's get them onto the LEX ... hpefully some BATTER will do them for us. There are some really cool ones ;)
Nice presentation of the night shots. The stadiums look really good too - I hope you manage to get them on the LEX some day.
Well ... your city was so beautiful that I didn't realize the lack of nightlights ...I don't know however how Nik-Nik noticed it ; the number of buildings enlightened depends of the night hour and you didn't precise if the pic was taken with the night time switch in or off ... there're eagles eyes in there ! ;D
Glad you've solved this issue .
Good snowy pics , I generally don't enjoy them so much cause of these green trees supposed to be seasonal (even if we can imagine it's early or tardy snow...) . Is this Urban Mall with a japanese gallery as prop your own stuff ? I like that so much you know , you should precise if it's the case , now I have to check up again this MD trying to detect some other "suspicious" Lots , not so easy : nobody knows every BATs & Lots . $%Grinno$%
I use too Oita Stadium , the best IMO , but the models you present here are superb (the last is my favorite ) .
I 'm following this with great interest .
What a change with your nightlights all burning this bright.
Lots of great citybuilding and I love the lavendar fields in the snow.
Great animation Silvio!
keep up the good work :)
&apls &apls Ok you can blast me for not went came here before ;D Seriously i pass over your MD and i`m enjoy every pics and animation you have done . I gonna follow the update closer . Great work you done btw.
Wonderful animation and great night-pictures! Great stadium!
Just to tease a little bit more and see if one of the great batters around here wants to pick this model. This is an inside view of the stadium from last picture above.

Interesting stuff! And the stadium is superb! &apls
Rayden is the master builder. Very good stuff, in fact the right stuff. And now you have the night stuff. (I couldn't help it.)
Those stadiums look awesome. I need a really outstanding stadium for my MD. Any other suggestions?

Bonjour Silvio! Do you remember me? ()what()
How's it going my friend?
I just finished to look at all your updates...WOW! Amazing job! You're truly a mosaic master. Beautiful MD you got here.
Oups! Have to go...my son needs the computer and since he's the boss...lol!
Again, great work! Can't wait to see more!
Cheers!

Hail to the master builder...lol &bis&
Hi guys, sorry for the lack of updates lately, but sometimes you have to make a little break, do something else (been trying to setup my 3DStudio Max, not very successfully &mmm ), and then come back fresh and stronger ;)
Right now I'm developing quad C1. Here is a small overview of quads B1+C1. Check the picture bellow for those quads position.

I'll be back later for some answers. ;)
hello silvio! i think its the 1st time i flew in and got a rent-a-car to go around your shosaloza. i had to have quite a few gas stops going around and it certainly is all worthwhile. i loved the tunnels, the coastal drives, the farms, the urban areas. wow. practically everything! and you didnt disappoint the project's goal of having the most sims while not changing the landscape. mother nature would be pleased! im flying out now but rest assured, im on one of the next flights back in. thanks and i hope you dont get tired of developing!
I see in the update that you are realy enjoying the night lighting. Glad to be of help Silvio.
Nice stadiums you've got there. It would be great if some batter took them under his/her wings.
hanks for the linkie. I hardly ever go down to any Japanese site, except for NOB's and Somy's. So it is not surprising that I missed this maginificent stadium. It is rather obvious once you downloaded the lot that the roof is closable (it's in the picture, duh), it is a very special lot.
Thanks and good luck with 3Dstudio Max.
Nik-Nik
great work, and i too hope the best on setting up 3ds max.
Nice little mini-update there, Rayden! Can't wait to see more!
Very nice mini update!
QuoteI'll be back later for some answers.
Jeez, Silvio... honest- I don't even remember the questions.
...no, no... not the bamboo under the fingernails... ow, ow, ow, ow, OW!
Great mini-update! There's always amazing stuff to see here. And good luck with 3DStudio Max. I know you'll be putting that to good use.

I love that mosaic as I always do.
The developped (read grown) buildings look typicaly like mine. Somy's 01 and 02, SFBT's residentials (grosses Miethaus & kleines Miethaus) Jebel blove on shore, etc. makes me feel right at home ()stsfd()
Great how the rail road goes up. Wonderfull done.
HEY What's that you missed buldozing some road lots! ()sad()
I also noticed some missing texture at the dirt road/rail road crossing in the middle (next to the church).
I love how you done the start of the river, from the glacier, first using PEG's pond tiles and then transition it into the canals. Interesting.
question why did you use so many roads and not streets?
Final word on this mosaic: MOOI!
Nik-Nik
Uh-oh! Get out the four-foot (1.2 m) tall monitor, Silvio's back with another "little" mosaic.
Nifty stuff as always, my friend. The sharp-eyed among us have already spotted and commented on all the detail stuff- I just enjoy sitting back and trying to take it all in. It's ingenious how you've used those locks to move that stream down a pretty steep hill- bet there was some great kayaking buried under all that concrete.
Reminds me a lot of valleys filled with development miles/kilometers long but only about a half-mile/a kilometer or so wide in northwestern Italy. You've got a marvelous feel for that sort of landscape.
'Til next time...
David
Beautiful mosaic, Rayden! And, as David pointed out, it's huge! I love the canal locks and the train station, especially!

"Eagle-eye" has spoken ... so I've spent a few time to search road lots & missing textures . :D
The terraforming and canal locks are the most impressive for me ...( because I really suck with that .)
Hola Silvio,
Loved that last mosaic! Very ingenious use of the locks! But looking at the nearby apartments, and with the sound of all that water rising and lowering all day I just can imagine some dialogs....
child... "Moooooommm"
mother..."yes dear"
child..."I have to go to the bathroom..."
mother... "AGAIN!" **mumbling to herself... we have to move... if not I'll go crazy!**
hehehe... just kidding amigo! I really like the "blue collar" ambiance of it all, except of course for the judiciously placed high wealth condos on the top of the hill... I wouldn't mind living there!
Great work my friend
Take care
Great work Rayden. You pack a lot of interesting stuff in that narrow valley. I usually don't care much for MDs with really tall mountains, but this one is very interesting and keeps drawing me back.

That's not missing textures, and that's one of the reasons I don't use more streets on high density cities. Look bellow at the picture. The other reason it's, on high density cities, the streets soon get completely crowded with cars.

YomanThanks for dropping by my friend. I hope one of those batter step forward. So far, not yet.
pvarcoe (3)I'm happy I could help you as well. Definately with lights, thinks look different. Thanks for your kind words. About renaming, if you have that "SimCity 4 Extra Cheats Plugin.dll" file installed, during game, press Ctrl+x and then over the box, right-click with the mouse. It will show a list of cheats, pick the ones:
- whererufrom <name> Resets the name of your city to the given value.
- hellomynameis <name> Resets the name of the mayor to the given value.
Colyn (2)Thanks Colyn, but I would prefer to give them in hand to sobebody that I trust to do a very nice work with it, and besides, it's not very legal to post models over the net without authorization to do so. I can give them away to sobebody but not post them.
emilin (3)Thanks emilin, I hope so too to see them on the LEX one of these days, them and some of the many others I have.
Sorry if the update came so late, but RL got in the way this time. I hope you enjoy it now. Thanks for your kind words on my canal work. I hope I can improve my skills on that canal stuff, coz, I wasn't completely happy with the final result. My only excuse is the terrain didn't gave me much choices do do it better.
Badsim (2)You're very kind ;D Nik-Nik has very sharp eyes indeed, he should be called from now on, Nik The Eagle. ;D About "my" lots, unfortunately I don't have your LE skills or your imagination. Most of my stuff are small filling lots, change of textures. So, far, my only Lot is a nuclear power plant I did with a great help from Jestarr on cleaning up all the dependencies from it and it's actually on the LEX. I also also have some small warehouses I used on my other CJ's port. About those lots you mentioned and liked, can you please tell me exactly which ones are. Re-post the images if necessary.
Thanks again for dropping by, hope to see you soon mate. :)
kwakelaar (2)Thanks for dropping by and being so patient. Update follows bellow.

Hehe, thanks for the praise ;)
rooker1 (2)Thanks mate. There's several good options around:

Bonjour Silvio! Do you remember me? ()what()
How's it going my friend?
I just finished to look at all your updates...WOW! Amazing job! You're truly a mosaic master. Beautiful MD you got here.
Oups! Have to go...my son needs the computer and since he's the boss...lol!
Again, great work! Can't wait to see more!
Cheers!
Eric
Of course I remember you Eric, thanks for dropping by my humble MD. Looks like you're having the same problem as I had with my daughter, but in my case I was the boss, which didn't solve much, as I had to buy her a laptop so she could messenger all her friends ;D Hehe.
nova vesfaloThanks NV but the stadiums are not my creation, but some very good models someone gave me and I would like to share them, otherwise I will not have any use for them.
cali (4)Thanks Cali, I hope you enjoy the so called waited update. About my "drawings", that's only some photoshop tricks I know. ;)
zniehadajetThank you my friend, I'm glad you liked. Be sure you come back, but before, check our travel agency, we're having some price breaks, and you might find a very juicy deal on our flights to Rayden's Shosaloza ;D
Nik-Nik (2)Hey, Nik The Eagle, hehe, (check my answer above, to Badsim).

Great renaming!
()sad() Ooops, caught!! ;D
Nik-Nik
That's not missing textures, and that's one of the reasons I don't use more streets on high density cities. Look bellow at the picture. The other reason it's, on high density cities, the streets soon get completely crowded with cars.

Great mini-update! There's always amazing stuff to see here. And good luck with 3DStudio Max. I know you'll be putting that to good use.
David
Here he is again, teasing me up! Thanks David, unfortunately I still haven't managed to setup properly 3DSMax, still waiting to see if an angel decides to give me an hand on that matter. The bat4max keeps hanging everytime I try a preview or a render of the model at 16%. Weird.
About my work, thanks, you're too kind as usual. I hope you too, enjoy this next update.

PS: I've been looking for flight deals to Anchorage for next year, and so far I've found one for 840 euros. If I find one bellow 500 euros, you can be sure I will buy you a coffee there in Wasilla, and in exchange you will show me that McKinley beast (5Km tall). ;D

http://rayden.zftp.com/sc4/shosaloza/cityc1_anim3.swf
And that the end of another small update. Time for some stats.
- Shosaloza now is a little over 300K inhabitants
- There is still a lot of cities that can be developed. I'm sure I will not have to add some extra land to the water bodies in the region.
- This update, took my all free time of yesterday and today.
- Was made of 98 screenshots, that after being scaled and re-touched with PShop, weighted 12,5 Mbytes.
- The biggest mosaic took some 16 screenshots (1024x768).
Well, that's all for now, enjoy the update and see you guys later.
You are truly relentless. :D
Considering you are not using LE on everything, the way you manage to make everything fit so nicely is truly first rate.
Your PS skills are pretty awesome as well. Just when I thought I could get my cities to look kinda like yours, you go and get better....
And of course, the presentation is becoming better and better. I don't know how you do it (I imagine your helicopter has something to do with it) but just keep going. I will be following your every project as long as you are active here.
This stuff is THAT good! ;)
Every single update I see gets better and better. I want to add a word of thanks for sharing those mosiacs... the work and effort shows (number 4 is my favorite, but saying that is hard because they were all amazing)
Great work! Thanks for sharing!
Well, my friend that was definitely worth that wait! I looked at all the mosaics (especially number 4), and the animations were great, too! All in all, a fantastic update!
And sorry about the seven posts, I feel like a bit of a pest now...
Take care,

I'm amazed by the fact you don't use massively LE and can obtain this result ...I really wonder which of us need the most to be skilled/crafty . :P

Your take on Shosaloza is simply breathtaking. I can't understadn where you find the space to build all that in such a hard terrain. Your terraces flow naturally and gently, and suddenly a high altitude valley looks like the perfect spot for a big city. Bravo!
Wow Silvio... what an update. Where on earth do you find the time to make all this ? And even a movie in a picture : true art &apls All shosaloza's are masterpieces - but you rock! It's amazing how you are able to set a big-city atmosphere in this rough region with height differences.... Super incredible, awesome fantastic.........hmmmm....what else...........I think you understand. now that was an outstanding update. It could have very easily been 2 or 3 updates. Yeah those streets tend to glog with cars. However if you have enough busses in your city the Sims do not complain. Aha it was in the picture that I misinterpreted the rail road crossing. The close up is much better yes!
Eagle valley... ()stsfd()
Massive update Silvio.
I guess that the drive-in movie park is somesort of meeting place for young couples hence they arrive after the movie :D
Great night pics!
Great hotels and fast food joints. LOL those cops I love that Dunkin Donuts lot!
Is teher a problem with the texture with that trainstation (I believe it is Ill Tonkso's) I notice the road in front of it and that it connects to the second road (hence the pedestrian crossing) but it does not show only some hedges on a piece of plaze (any idea what I am rambling about?):

I only checked out the first three mosaics. They are awsome. Great spooky graveyards. Is that Millenium dome realy pink at night?
Anyway I got to go and add my car to the traffic jams to get home (yeah RL is sometimes frightenly familiar to SC4 LOL).

See ya later guys. ;)
Wow, I don't think I've posted here yet, What a mistake! Beautiful mosaic, Very inspiring, Congratulations on 3,000 views, An achievement really well deserved! Keep up the great work :)
Rayden, I'm envious of those railyards! Just curious, don't they have a whole laundry list of dependencies?
COngrats on 3,000 views. ;D Very well deserved.
The whole mosaic is great, however I am a big fan of trains so I feel the urge to focus on that aspect. The freightyards are nicely tied in with their surroundings and the last part of the mosaic with the train passing through the sweeping curve is really well done. Your work is quite good. Keep it up.
&apls Wow a nice one you did forget . Glad you remember . Congrats for the 3000
dannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng wow awsome mosaic rayden &apls &apls &apls

Credits go to Jeronij and his tutorial and the gmax model he left at the stex. Because until I found them, the only thing I was able to do was making the Edmonton water change completely its look. First I managed to make the Emonton water textures appear like 3 store buildings (ID instances) and then, my stream on the Shosaloza Yazoo city was filled with those buildings. Later I managed to make that stream look like a frozen stream. So, I had to go on a deep search for knowledge, and found Jeronij tutorial [linkie (http://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=42&threadid=61052&enterthread=y&STARTPAGE=7#772754)] that saved my day. I was just about giving all up when I found it. Thanks Jer, but that would be a good idea to bring it over here, you're really dumb, ain't you Rayden, why didn't ya search in here first? &ops $%Grinno$% Geez, spent hours at the stex looking for something already here (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=185.0). Nevertheless, I managed and I'm very happy with that. This is just a beta version, as the snow texture I used, despite it's quite good, but it lost all its detail when rendered with the bat. I'm going to try doing it on 3dsmax and pray it doesn't hang again at 16% rendering. When finished I'll send it ti Jeronij for review and see if it fits the LEX standards. ;)
QuoteLater I managed to make that stream look like a frozen stream.
OK, my friend. Now you've again got my full attention...
Congrats on 300th post! Your plopable snow looks very great! &apls
&apls Congrats and very great add this ploppable snow.
Ok, the snow mod is finished, and I'll be sending it to Jeronij. If he finds it as of a suitable standard to the LEX, he will upload it. Otherwise, I'll find a way to get it to any of you interested on it.
Here is another pic of it.

You will be renamed Mr Plop as of today..
Wow! Rayden, you went nuts with the updates. These are great! I find your work fascinating. Probably because it is so different in syle from mine. Keep 'em coming. Thanks.
I'm looking forward to seeing the development of this ploppable snow (and coming from you of all people, who would have thought it $%Grinno$% ;)) Great updates as usual
The snow mod looks great, Rayden! I hope that it will become available for download!

As in "Holy mama! Lookit' that!"
Ciao for now, my friend.

Hi Rayden/Silvio ,
Like others I'm interested by this magical Snow Mod ....
And congratulations for the rise of this essential MD . &apls
Thanks guys, as I said before this was a first attempt, like an alpha version. Right now I'm having a little help from a friend who gently offer to make a new mesh that most probably will improve the looks of the snow. I will also try another texture to see if it resembles better the already snow mods available, like the Cycledogg's and Jeronij's ones. I'll post some more images soon.
See ya later
Rayden
Even more to perfection Silvio.
Great work so far will be made even better. &apls
Nik-Nik
Hello Silvio !
Glad you remember me!
Ploppable snow is truly a wonderful idea, keep it up!
The last updates are also a wonderful job. Great night pics, awsome mosaics (man! you're crazy!!!) There's a lot of nice little details.
Can't wait to see more updates and good luck with your snow project.
Cheers!

&apls Great work. Very usefull lots . Thanks for sharing
nothing since the 2nd of april. hope everythings ok, silvio. see you around. soon, i hope :P
Ploppable snow looks great, my friend! I think I'll head over to the LEX to download it!
Well, my SC4 game is having a few issues, like crashing to the desktop, not opening some cities, or only opening them after I open a certain one, etc... I think it's about time I do a major clean up on my plugins folder.
So, as I don't know if this region will ever be playable again, I will consider it, for now, as closed. Maybe I'll get back to it in a later future.
In the meantime, and after building the new Plugins folder, Little Italy will be back
Oh-Oh ..maybe the ploppable snow caused to many avalanches ?
I am sorry to read that your Shosaloza/Mt Robson region had to end like this - I enjoyed every update on it. And, I believe it was the first "Classic" MD that I ever followed from start.....

Well, maybe it is not finished for good, but will see about it when I rebuild the Plugins folder. Anyway, you will love Little Italy. I had that going in ST, and I'm still thinking if I will bring it back as it was left there, or if I will build it from the beginning once again.
Again about this one, and before it gets archived, I didn't wanted to leave it without at least to thank everyone for all the support given so far. You've been a great audience and without your support I'm sure I wouldn't be able to carry that task this further.
Thanks and see you all back in Little Italy in about a week time.
Sorry to hear about our game problems, Rayden. You've done a fantastic job with Shosaloza so far, hopefully you'll be able to continue in the future. Also, I'll be looking forward to seeing Little Italy! Take care, my friend!
Splendid zoning industrial ...
Really much of imagination and the density of the network ferrovier is superb
Bravo !
What a sad new ,Silvio ... &mmm
Even being sure I'll love "Little Italy" , this was a great MD I'll regret a lot .
See you soon . ;)
Awesome work on the snow modd, it looks perfect.
Robin &apls  &apls
sad to read what happened. :'( hope everything turns out fine... so we can have both, maybe. lol
Ohhhhhhh no Rayden that soooo bites the big one. I had enjoyed lurking here and stealing errrrr mean being inspired by your works and with that I'm sad to see Mt Robson aka Shosloza come to the end. I hope that you do have the great turn around and bring back to life this awesome MD. I will most definitely check out Little Italy in the meantime - pat
&apls  great work
Awesome! It's cool to see the ploppable snow in use, and that is one hell of a mosaic two pages back!
Jeez.... I was typing my reply, and when I was just finishing... (after 10 minutes of typing...) I just hit the wrong button and POOF... no more web page &mmm ... (how clumsy can you be... (well.. me... not you of course..))
OK here we go again...
I was answering your post on AVR, when I thought that I should update the link in your name back at AVR, so I thought to come here and copy the URL. Good idea! I come here and what do I read! Your game's crashing and you're thinking of closing this one.... talk about timing... hehehe... seriously I hope the problem is not related to your plppable snow, it would be a shame... It really look great! Though I have one complaint.... we finally get rid of the last of the snow here, and what do you do? You send us some more!!!! Sheesh... Just kidding of course, this PS (Ploppable Snow) will be a great tool!
Just a word before leaving, you were talking about perhaps continuing the original Little Italy here, I think your second idea is better, you should build it from the beginning, with all your new experience, I'm sure you'll do some things better yet! (If it's possible... hehehe...)
Anyhow, great to be here again and looking forward to seeing more of your work!
Have a great week
-John
@John (Darmok) - That "ghost" posts happened to me all the time, specialy at ST, very anoying isn't it? $%Grinno$% Thanks for dropping by and thought about linking me to this CJ/MD. Unfortunately, besides still being able to open this region, with the increasing times of the game crashing to the desktop when opening, made me decide to re-new the plugins folder. After a week, and many hours looking for and downloading, I think I have a decent but still un-complete plugins folder (1.43 Gb) ;D I'm still missing a few small things, and also most of the good gems from the other side of the earth (Japanese lots and others like). I've downloded them, but I'm going to edit all and change names and other small details necessary, to have a clean pugins folder where everything is clean and tidy. Also these days I have been busy updating some old lots, and learning my way on this world of lotting and modding. You can be sure, there will be a lot of new and better things on my next project. I also agree with you, and I will start Little Italy from scratch and try to improve the work done previously. There will be a lot of custom content.
About this one, I haven't tried yet to open it with this new Plugins folder, but I'm afraid it will be a no go. I'm sure it will be a ton of missing things, as my previous Plugins folder was a complete mess and many things I don't even know anymore where I get them from (3,9 Gb) :P
Anyway I'll give it a go, and if I succeed on opening it, I'll try to clean up the cities from brown boxes by deleting them one by one and try to replace those by new lots and maybe in the end, it stops crashing for good. I'll see what happens...
Cheers to you and everyone else, and thanks for all the suport given so far.
Silvio (aka Rayden)

wonderful pictures!!!! congratulations!
Thanks, last weekend I backed-up my plugins folder and decided to try something. I've did a complete clean-up on my old plugins folder, by going through every custom lot with the LE and deleting any I didn't use very often or at all. It took me long hours, as I had to sort the plugins by alphabetic order, create new folders, and copy paste all the plugins into them. Then I used to keep one at a time (a, b, c and on and on... down until z), so, I could open them on the LE with not too much delay. In the end, I merged the old plugins folder with the new one. Did a Cleanitol clean, looked for double files and empty folders, then use the SC4DatPacker and tried to open Shosaloza. Did some praying along, and, voilá, Shosaloza back in business. After that, I installed the new NAM, and, it does work fine too. I tried to open another city first, other than the one first created, and it doesn't crash to the desktop anymore. I think, if there was a nasty plugin doing all that damaged, it went down the toilet during the major clean-up $%Grinno$%
I'll see if I can have an update soon. :)
Cheers
Silvio
This is the best news I've gotten all day! Congratulations, Rayden! I'm so glad that you were able to fix your problem. I'll be waiting patiently for a new update!
Wow that is good news!!!!!!!

hi sylvio my friend how are you,
this is awesome work you have done its very beautifull, you build so well.i love all the little details,i know this work has took you lots of time to do,the last pic is amazing quite realistic and very scenic and beautifull.
Great news Rayden
Glad to see this back in business! &apls
Wow, so many replies, thanks guys. I'm still searching for a devine inspiration to carry on with this. In the meantime, I'll build bits like this:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg132.imageshack.us%2Fimg132%2F617%2Fmudhole3es5.jpg&hash=c4243d1eec63f22bc5a2297f670dc956f4b74f32)

I'm also testing the CAM in this already half-way built region, and one thing I've already noticed. This peticular city, is now on the year 81 and I remember I could have a farm growing anymore. With the CAM, they still grow and quite easily. I have to test it in another region, I remember my old CJ, New Haven, I couldn't grow any farm either, as soon any manufacturing industry have grown, even if I destroy them. I remember I had to plop farms, coz they wouldn't grow anymore. If this is right, with the CAM, I'll be able to grow farms again if there is any demand.
Glad to see you back on track Silvio.
Glad to be back myself too as I was gone sometime due to PC crash (bad sim), ome redecorating my house and some bad SC4 depression that i am still trying to recover from. A lack of free time also has to do with this. Anyway nuff said about me.
Where are the devine beings when you nede some inspiration, huh?
Scary housing on that rock platform in the last nite pic. One should not be afraid of heights when you want to live there. :D
Nik-Nik
Great news! Also the pictures are looking beautiful! That are nice areas!
Hi Silvio ,
Glad, truely glad to see you coming back on THIS MD ... ;)
And to celebrate this return .... what splendid pictures !
#2 - Simply perfect .
#3 - I love this strange sensation of flora floating above the ground ...
#4 - Even a whale along the shore .
Take care with your new and clean plugin folder ... you know the price . I don't find the willpower to clean up mine ...if willpower is something that can be find .
These are some amazing shots, almost think they are not taken from the game, and cleaning the plugin folder, you are a brave man. I almost don't dare look at mine anymore as there is so many files ::)
Wow this is absolutely incredible!
The first 2 pics on the page are as close to perfect as it gets.
Great work!
That's a very cool cliffside village there. I can just picture myself leaning over the balcony watching the whale. &apls
It's all in the details. It looks amazing. All of it. Carry on! ;D
Great work, it's beautiful
It'is dangerous a city at the edge of a cliff $%Grinno$%
 Nice pics you show to us. I also like your little town on the cliff. Great idea. &apls
Oooh, Rayden, you've got a wonderful city developing.
I'll say this: so far, your new work looks a lot better than the previous incarnation of your region (and it was already quite good). :P It seems that a plugins clean-up can work wonders.
Those cliffs are amazing. Simply amazing. Great work, my friend!
Nicely done. &apls
Not a huge fan of the flora choice..... But I do absolutely love the beach area.
OK i hate to bump here but Silvio i was catching up a little bit on you and from when i last posted
to where you left off is just stunning i hope you have found some inspritaion to continue i know its
hard but man you are sure talented verrrrry talented  - pat
btw i keep reffering back to your pic that you posted awhile back in " Waterfalls... " my MD to keep
me going cause dang like i said you are goooooood....
Thanks Pat, as you and almost everybody probably already noticed or by nick title or from the CML, I became one of the BSC team members. That add a few more responsabilities and extra work, which I'm enjoying a lot, and less time for this MD. Anyway, as soon as this CAM modd in on its wheels and doing fine, and after some of the lotting I've been doing is finished, I'll get to this MD and eventually re-start my latest one, Little Italy.
In the meantime, I wish to thank everyone that has been following this MD, for all the support and patient while I've been busy doing other things.
Cheers
Silvio
Silvio, thanks for the message, I was indeed wondering where you have been.
See you soon.
Nik-Nik
Thx NikNik, I've been kind of MIA due to RL and other things lately, but now I'm back. This MD it's a bit stoped right now. Yesterday I updated the plugins with SG stuff and some late CAM stuff as well, so, I loaded Shozalosa to see if it still works. It does ;)
I took a brief screenshot just to post it in here and keep this going on for a little more. $%Grinno$%

Glad to see you're alive and kicking, Rayden! Hope to see more of your work in the future!
Hello Rayden,
I'm afraid it is my first post here (sorry), but I must say I learned a lot lurking at your MD :D - now I'm going to change it
You created an amazing region and I'm very glad it's still going on
I like very much your seashore views and the last city sreenshot is great- very close to my taste &apls It is diversified and full of life, also at night :D
Good luck and don't stop this work, it's a great pleasure to look at it!
Silvio- You think you can come out of nowhere and blow us all away with a single pic...
...grumble...grumble...
...well, I guess you can. That's amazing work. Where you been, my friend?
David
wonderful picture Rayden!!!
when the next?? $%Grinno$%
Well, look who it is?
I didn't think it was possible to 100% emulate RL with SC4. Guess I was wrong!
Welcome back, sir...!
Thanks guys, I didn't think I was going to be that missed :P So, one picture it's not enough; what about 2? $%Grinno$%
I'm still amazed how nice and full of variety the game looks now, after CAM, the farms, commerce, everything now looks a lot better ;)

One question - I think you use ploppable farm fields in some places. Wchich set of them did you use? I am trying to make some farms now in my Shosaloza, but it seems I missed something when I downloaded them :)
