Nice Joel! I suspected this. ;) If you need any help with rendering (and lotting) (although a long time to come, with both) I would be glad to help in any way, now that I have the HD scripts. Looks good, and I can't wait to see the release!

I've modeled the whole plane, now it awaits textures, windows and lights!

Looks great. Is the nose really that pointy on the A300, though? I recall it being slightly more curved.

Overall though, it's fantastic, and I'm also happy to assist with rendering.

I also think the nose looks a bit too pointy, but it may just be the SC4 angle messing things up a bit.

But I still think that's wonderful progress so far and I can't wait to see more!  :thumbsup:

Good to know, but I meant a "High quality" - one compared to tabis version :thumbsup: He does a great job, no doubt, but many of his models are a bit misshaped

I don't know if it's caused by that angle of view, but the nose looks a bit wrong by now. It seems to be too pointy and "flat" between its end and the cockpitwindows... otherwise a very nice model... keep up the great work :)

Thanks guys, for your support. From my experience in my turboprops projects, I was really overwhelmed by the number of replies. I suppose big jets are a big more exciting right? :P At any rate, the encouragement from the SC4D public means a lot to me. Now, I shall answer some questions.

Nose Pointiness
I think that Cameron and Pilotdaryl may have been right, in that the nose was made to look more sharp by a combination of the specular highlights on the fuselage and the SC4 angle. However, I think that because the model had no textures, it also created a weird look that may have caused you to think it was pointy. Hopefully the picture today will address these concerns.

A380/A320
This project includes the Airbus A300, A310, A330 and A340. The other Airbus planes (A320, A380, A350XWB and A400M) are not included. I would like to explain why in detail. The first Airbus plane was the A300. The second was the A310, which was a shortened version of the A300, with slightly different wings. For that reason, it makes sense that I should BAT the A310 as a follow-on from the A300, doesn't it? When the A330 was developed, it was built with the same fuselage cross-section as the A310 and A300. Other parts are visually similar as well. For that reason, it again makes sense to BAT that as a follow-on to the project. The original A340 (the A340-200 and -300) are identical to the corresponding A330s, but have 4 engines, instead of 2. It is not my intention say definitively yes or no to BATting the A380 or the A320, however, the A320 has already been BATted by the AC, and the A380 by tabi.

Cargo Liveries
Yes! I will definitely be making cargo versions of the Airbus Series. There are a heap of Freighter A300s flying today, with airlines like FedEx, UPS and DHL. However, I'm going to set myself limits. I need to manage the number of liveries I do for each model, otherwise I'll get bogged down with filling requests and then rendering and lotting becomes a huge, unmanageable task. For that reason, I'm limiting myself to 10 passenger liveries, and 6 cargo liveries for the A300. I'll happily consider any requests you have, but please do not be offended if I say no. I'll try to follow a path similar to the one taken by Voltaire and the AC, in that I will try to follow up the series with a second set, containing the liveries that didn't fit into the first set. I will consider releasing templates for people to make their own custom liveries at a later date, after the project is completed.

Progress
I've now textured all the parts of the A300-600. I now need to do the same for the A300B models (the earlier variants). This won't take long at all, and I won't bother showing a new picture because it won't be very exciting. I've also added the windows which will become the night windows that light up later on. This means, I can start making the liveries now, and you can post a few requests. I'm going to ask you to request only 1 livery each, and please link me to a photo (preferably at Airliners.net). I would like to combine new/recent liveries with older ones in this set, and I'm also going to choose some of the liveries myself. Please, as I said, don't be offended if I say no to your request. I can't do all of them this time around.

I will probably make the lines across the fuselage and vertical stabliser fainter, as they stand out a little too much at the moment. I also need to look at more pictures and diagrams to get the exact right location of cargo doors, and other such details, especially before I start making the cargo liveries.

So if you're planning to do just 6 cargo liveries, it will be better to do just liveries, which weren't already made by tabi (TNT, UPS, FedEx, DHL)

but there are plenty of other liveries, such as:

Tristar Air Cargo
Egypt air cargo

Tunisair

there are many airlines, which do not fly them anymore, but it would be nice to be able to create some "retro"-airport pictures

Driftmaster They are known as 'Wingtip Fences' Airbus has chosen them on all of its models so far, except the A330/A340 family, and the A320-200's ordered by Air New Zealand which will be the first A320s to feature blended winglets (similar to the 737NG's).

Here you can see I've modeled a Catering truck (in Gate Gourmet livery at the moment, but LSG Sky Chefs will also be used), as well as a loader for loading the ULDs (Unit Load Devices) such as LD3s, the most common form, like the ones in the picture. These will be used on the models I render with the jetways attached, which brings me to my next point - the Jetway. This is the second jetway I've modeled, and I have tried to make it similar to the existing jetways, for maximum continuity in your airports. It is highly likely that this jetway, or a derivative of it will be used in other SCAG projects. You'll always know the SCAG jetway, because I put a little SCAG logo on the side of it. Something that does not match any existing airport content is the colour of the windows. As far as I know, every plane BAT made so far has used the 'Beige' night-window texture. I have chosen 'Blue'. If you look here, at the 'Night Shots' (http://www.airliners.net/search/photo.search?static=yes&specialsearch=DARK&sort_order=photo_id+desc&page=1&page_limit=15&sid=5eeefd96c8cf2281956f1baf063e6619) section of Airliners.net, you'll see many of the planes' windows appear to be lit with blue. So, I'm going for it.

Also, are you including baggage loaders in the BATs or are those going to be added in LE?

Very, very, very, very nice work Joel! I did not know American operates the A300. Anyways, Lufthansa is one of my FAVORITE liveries ever! You did it perfectly. Edit: I see now.  Will the planes be made availiable without the stuff underneath? And will the planes be released in individual packs? One for the A300, one for the A310, etc. The stuff on the ground looks amazing! The first ever to be made onto the plane's body directly in the BAT, as far as I know.

They were all retired recently. And afaik they were not happy with them at all. Not only they suffered a crash, the plane featured the worst dispatch reliability amongst all their types (delays etc), in their hands. Lousy maintenance procedures? Maybe. In contrast the plane proved very reliable in the hands, of say, Lufthansa Technik. I guess even the most fanatic AA fans aren't fans of this bird actually.

Shadeslayer I used that LD3 texture originally, but it wasn't very nice in HD, so I've been working on a new one. Admittedly, the one on that last picture was a bit bland.

Driftmaster American Airlines retired its fleet of A300s last year, as did Lufthansa. This A300 project will be released before I start the A310, and so on. So yes, they'll be seperate. Thanks for the compliment about the ground equipment, but I don't think they are the first to be made into the BAT. Voltaire's latest 747 is going to work that way, as will our 767.

WC_EEND Sorry, it is now closed for passenger airlines, however it is still open for cargo ones.

Now, in the past few days I've put quite a lot of hours into this project, and I must say it is coming together very, very quickly. I've finished modelling the ground equipment, and have designed a ground-texture layout on which it (as well as the 767) will be lotted. So basically, I just have to finish the liveries, render and lot.


There are 2 more livery slots available in the passenger category. I intend to fill them with surprise ones, that you won't get to see until the release.  :P

If you want to request cargo ones, please do so.

I love the olympic one! Is it actually named after the olympics? Heck, if it is, maybe you should do a simlympic livery. Lol. Keep up the great work Joel!

Actually, Olympic Airlines (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olympic_Airlines) were the flag carrier of Greece until October 2009, when it was sold and re-named to Olympic Air... The livery is different now, but I like the old one better :)

Here is the result of the HD vs SD test of the A300 in game. The top two pictures are Zoom 5 and the bottom is obviously zoom 6 (reduced somewhat).

I'd suggest that in Zoom 5, the untrained eye wouldn't know the difference between the two.

In Zoom 5 the HD version has less anti-aliased writing, however on this particular model the effects of that are fairly negligible - the titles (English ones at least) are equally readable on both versions.

In fact, I think the HD version looks to have less "Noise" in the texture at Zoom 5.

So for me, I'm sticking with HD for this BAT. Feel free to share your opinion, however comments discussing HD vs Not in a general sense may be removed. Lets keep it relevant to this project please.  :)

Well, my opinion on all of this is that HD is the way forward.
feel free to delete (a part of) this post if you think it's not relevant to the project.

Other than that, I can't even see the difference in zoom 5 and zoom 6 looks way better (although the SD version does look remarkably less pixelated than some other SD BATs I've seen.

@Xander, don't worry, I don't want to delete your post - I was just worried that this topic might be hijacked by people wanting to have their argument about HD or not. The Zoom 6 looks less pixelated probably because i resized it from 1024 to 640 to fit neatly in the picture.

@Gilivok, yes, these Airbridges are new, but only as new as the pictures i showed of it on the last couple of pages.  ::)

As you can see from these images of American Airlines A300s at JFK, it is possible to dock the A300 at either door. This project will have a mix of the two.

Just to let everyone know, I've started rendering the A300s. At this rate I expect to see a LEX Submission within 3-4 weeks. Unfortunately this leaves the Release Date still unknown, but 6 weeks from today would be an (extremely) optimistic estimate.

Well, I've been rendering away these A300s. You'll be glad to know that I've exported about 60% of the needed models so far, so soon I'll be starting the lots and getting them to a releasable state. But since LE and BAT don't like eachother and won't run successfully simultaneously, I decided to try something else.

I've successfully made my first ever Mayor Mode Ploppable. I've added all the stand-alone (non-airbridge) versions that I've rendered so far to the Plop Chain, which will be expanded with the remaining models once I render them.

These MMPs can be planted onto most (if not all, I haven't checked) of the currently available Airport surfaces, the RMIP-2 taxiways and runways, as well as the RMIP Aprons, as demonstrated by these pictures:

Now we have the choice to make our airports look more like real life with trafic on the TW's.

That my friend is a brilliant idea! It sure as hell saves me the time of lotting them on the taxiways and runways and going trough the way to clogged airport menu to find the lot with the plane you want.

Well, I'd like to make Lufthansa, in a way, but the thing is Lufthansa also operates A330s and A340s, and I've already done their A300. To be fair, I think I'll leave Lufthansa out of the initial A310 release, but there's a better than even chance I'll revisit all the models in the series to fill outstanding requests.

@Nekseb: I don't mind when people ask when it'll be released. What frustrates me is that I don't know the answer! Since I'm lotting them now, I'd say it shouldn't be too much longer, maybe a month or two, though I should probably take some time to work on the turboprops as well before then.

Wow! That was a quick update! Awesome!

One note, the American Flag on the tail of the Pan Am A310 looks to be cut off. I think it is supposed to be slanted and contour the slant of the rudder and tail...but the texture on the model seems to be sitting a little off. Just from what I can see.

 wow. finally. ive been waiting for a person to finally start making some airbus planes. they look so amazing. I dont really know anything but what is modding and batting? i know what lotting is but yeah. its a stoopid question so if you cant be bothered dont answer it. im just curios though.

Lotting is done with Loteditor, Batting is done with 3dsmax/gmax B.A.T. tool (it's actually making the model (modelling) and rendering the object you then get to use in lot editor), modding is as i believe working with numbers so you modify a code that makes one system (for example a road) take more capacity.

Thank you very much, Xander, that's exactly right. We're getting there, and the A300 MMP & Taxiway props are indeed undergoing scrutineering at this time. I've been taking something of a break, to work on my MD's airport as well as a few other things. I've been away for only 2 days and look what I missed! The A380 looks just like ther real one. Only downside is that the right wing looks longer than the left one (that's probably due to the angle). Anyway I'm really glad that there are A380s underway without jetways.

I had a nice 346 model myself in 2007 but got it destroyed with a PC crash (now using Macbook only :) So I'm really happy someone is doing the 340-600's. GREAT!

One question: on the 346 did you use the Rolls Royce Trent 500's as the engine models as I recall them being a bit more "maw" shaped, rather than straight tubes, makes the whole plane look stronger somehow.

As you see, they are large planes, with a narrower cross-section than a 747 or 777. But the A340-600 was once the longest commercial airliner in the world, until it was overtaken by the Boeing 777-300. The A330-300 is the same size as the A340-300, just with less engines, and the A330-200 and A340-200 are slightly shorter than that, but with the same wingspan.

Whats with the white stipe after all the windows and when the iconic American stripes end? Is that just a reflection thing? I've taken a look at all American A300s and I've never seen the white stripe. I was just wondering if it was possible to fix the issue if it is one.

I tried to talk to you about it on MSN - but I think Kumba's right. Certainly, I based the livery off photo's I had seen, mostly on Airliners.net. As far as I am concerned, it's already been rendered and included in MMPs and lots, and it certainly resembles American Airlines closely enough for all but the pickiest AA fans.

If you want to clarify the part of the plane you're talking about, feel free to do so. The red, white and blue cheatlines (as they are known) do indeed come to an end near the rear of the plane, before the tail section, inside the part of the fuselage that is painted white.

I believe he is talking about the white tail section of the fuselage.   Some American planes only painted the tail itself white while the entire fuselage remained silver.   The newer paint scheme has a white tail as well as the white fuselage after the red, white and blue stripes end.  It becomes a little more confusing as some of the the older planes with the silver fuselage tend to reflect the white tail.  Below is an example of both.  You can also see a reflection of the white reflection around the base of the fin in the fist photo

While there are different versions of the American Airline livery on different model of aircrafts such as the 737, 767, and so on, the point is that the A300 paint job is virtually identical to the real paint job that American did.


(BTW there is no A380 livery for American yet, as seeing they haven't ordered any yet :) )

Great busses! I love the A340 and A330's! BUT I think that the A380's nose looks a bit weird. I think that you should overwork the windscreen as they play a big role on the whole nose design. The ones at the front are smaller then the ones on the sides of the cockpit.

Also the top of the cockpit should be rounder a bit. Also the tailfin should be more look like the one from the A340-600 :thumbsup: Critique is alway better than nothing :D

That's right, the A310s are rendered and MMPed up. They'll be going into the mix for beta-testing later today when installers etc are ready. I'm starting to render the jetway ones now also.

I do belive it would be safe to say that those aircraft look kick ass. Though the red stripe on the top of the US Airways tail looks a bit too big, perhaps trimming that down a bit would make it look better

Currently, the A330's are being beta-tested and the A340's are being made (both will come in sets of lots and Mayor Mode Ploppables).

Work continues on various aspects of modelling for the A330 and A340. Unfortunately scrutineering is quite slow, as well as my speed at fixing the issues they inform me of, so there aren't any releases coming up soon, sadly. I've become very busy, and I'm only fitting in modelling as a bit of fun and relaxation a few hours a week. I'll be trying to do some of the grind work in the next few weeks to get the A300 & A310 projects on the LEX, then get the A330s rendering underway.

Well this project will be split in to a few releases:

The A300s have been released on the STEX.

The A310s are in the final stages of post-production and should be released very soon.

The A330s are just in the finishing touches stage. Post-production, icons, and various other steps follow. Their release date is unknown, but I can see it coming up pretty quick.

The A340s are still in production. There is no speculation on when those will be good to go.

Hey, Joelboy, I have a question.

About the A-300 lots: The planes themselves show up, however the ground texturing, ie. vehicle boundary lines, etc, do not show up. The lot is just 747 concrete with a plane on it. I am thouroughly confuzzled  ()what() because I have downloaded an installed every dependency.

Also, for the 757 lots, are there any vehicle boundary pieces with the correct offset that I seem to have missed? The vehicle boundary lines are the same offset as 737's, but the '37 lots are LIGHT colored, the '57 lots are DARK colored.

Any help would be appreciated :)

That possibly won't help, I'm afraid. It sounds like the file you are missing is the SCAG Mega Dependency, which you can download Here (http://www.simtropolis.com/forum/files/file/26252-scag-mega-dependency-1/). If that doesn't solve the problem, let me know, and I will look into it, it's entirely possible there may be something more sinister at play. You may have downloaded but accidentally not installed the package. Let me know how you get on.

Turns out the the Mega Dependency pack installer had somehow not extracted correctly (a problem on my end) and as a result the whole thing became corrupted. A quick reinstall fixed the problem. Thank you for your help!

The 737 ramp texture is 0x2590100. Your guesses on the 747 texture both work -- they are indistinguishable so it won't make a difference which you use.

As you see, the lot texture doesn't show up properly, as it was missing. Otherwise, it shows as usual in your other AXXX creations.

Sorry if this isn't the appropiate place to post this problem.

Seeing as those 757's use the default 737 (ie: light) ramp texture, I suspect the problem is that the AC Team 747 ramp textures are missing. So my guess is you're missing a dependancy, in specific the one containing the AC Team's 747 (ie: dark) ramp textures.

Solved. I was convinced I had the AC Mega Textures pack in the pack's dependency list, but I was wrong... Thanks for your help!

Downloaded the A330 packs and used them, and they are awesome. Quite possibly the best releases so far from the SCAG team, and a big thankyou for releasing them! ;D

Ah, I think what happened was I used the base texture from the AC Texture pack instead of the one that was included in the original 747 pack.  :bomb: Sorry for this inconvenience. Bit of a dumb mistake really.

A340s are coming up very soon too! The MMPs are almost ready to be released and the A340-200 and -300 are mostly rendered with jetways, with the -500 and -600 to follow soon after.

The entire project is a complete success: congratulations for creating one of the most incredibly brilliant planes and stuff:)

Just one or two things (two things actually)

1. Why is it that on the Virgin Atlantic A340-600 the company logo is different on the Virgin Atlantic A330-300? Like on the A333, the name is bigger, purple and more "modern" whilst on the A346 the name is smaller, blue and less "modern". You don't have to change I'm just wondering. Both look cool anyway.

2. On your A380's (which are amazing, by the way) I reckon the Flight deck windows are too big, and the nose is overly too pointed. Whilst the actual nose is a bit more fatter and the FD windows are smaller. I think someone mentioned this before. I'm not sure. It just makes to the plane look smaller, if ya know what I mean. Thanks fer yeh time. And you don't have to change anything if you don't want to 'cos its pretty minor anyway. HAPPY LOTTING AND BATTING ETC. :)

Hiya Muxcomee! Thanks for the comment (and sorry for the delayed reply). As for the Virgin Atlantic planes, the A330-300 is their new livery, that was announced a few months ago, and the A340-600 is their older livery (same as Voltaire's 747 used).

As for the A380 - the SCAG team is no longer working on this project, as Voltaire and the AC Team are now creating this aircraft. As such, I will use my time to further develop other SCAG aircrafts, including a revisit of the 777 project.

Hi Delta, I'm glad you like the releases so far. Regarding the HD rendering - I think I've had a change of heart about the whole thing. When Pilotdaryl was around and HD was new and exciting I thought it was fantastic, and I still see some of those merits, but when all of the terminals and a good portion of the planes will always be in SD, I think I lost the love for it. I will finish the A340 series in HD, but after that I'm really not sure. When a plane takes 6 hours to render, that's the point I start to get frustrated. So for now, SD is in. As for the A320 specifically, that model doesn't look very good in HD...

I'm always happy to hear more thoughts.

Also at certain zoom levels HD models seem to have a lower quality then SD models, and they take up more disk space. So if your planes go SD they'll still be just as awesome. :thumbsup:

At the second lowest Zoom level, I am disappointed with the HD quality for those models. Plus, almost no one does Z6 pictures because of the bad quality, it was a good idea I think, but a lost cause in the end.

So...

Well. I was using the MMP's for stuff, and they were working fine but I noticed how when you plopped them, only one type was ever plopped so for example: If I was plopping some A340's only like Swiss Air would be plopped, and none others would be. Does anyone else get this problem? I'll probably just have to reinstall the package thingy.

And um also, the cityhall I can't plop now, because when I do, then the MMP's (the A300's) kinda get plopped with it. If ya know what I mean. Yeah, it doesn't matter, I'll just not use the CityHall, not that I ever do.

And, er, How are the final installments for this project coming along? (Lotting the A340's) sorry, just curious.

The city-hall bug has nothing to do with our work - it randomly includes any and all flora items. I think there is a bug fix out there somewhere though, that makes sure only trees are plopped, but I don't know exactly where it is.

I'm sorry I don't really understand your problem with Swiss Air? If you want to plop the different liveries you have to click multiple times on exactly the same spot. Is this what you are doing? If so (and the problem persists) can you please post more detail?

There are a lot of releases forecast for sometime around January. I was hoping to get some of them out before Christmas, but a roadtrip with some mates has caused a delay  ;). That includes (probably first up) the lotted A340s.

Well, I shouldn't spoil too much information, but you are both right...

In terms of the "SCAG Airbus Project" that doesn't really include the A320s, but as you may know we released a pack of A320s featuring airlines from Australia, New Zealand and East/Southeast Asia last year. Having made some improvements to the model, I am also preparing a pack with airlines from America, ranging from Brazil to Canada, with a good number from the USA, and US Airways has not been overlooked. I hope that answers the question.  :P

If someone's wondering when releases will take place, I am happy to inform everyone that the final instalment of the A340s will be released not later than one week from today.

awesome work!  however, there is a problem with two of the lots.  i seem to be missing a dependency with the air tahiti nui lot (brown box on one of the corners) and the virgin atlantic a346 lot is missing the plane.

Hmm I'm still having problems with those two lots after a redownload.  Lot Editor is showing that there's *something* occupying the space where a virgin atlantic plane should be, but it's just not showing up :/

When testing on my computer, the installer does install the latest version - try deleting the old files and re-running the installer, perhaps?

Just downloaded them and saw them in-game, and they're brilliant! I'm having the same problems with the virgin atlantic and the air Tahiti A340, but I'll re-download just to be sure. Other than that, another great addition from the SCAG Team! Well Done! :thumbsup: :thumbsup: :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

I'm having the same problems with the A340s and why do the 777s have the Airbus logo when I click on them? Oh, and they're both fantastic.

I'm still having trouble with the Air Tahiti Nui lot.  Still shows the brown box, I tried to delete all of the old files and downloaded the latest installer from Simtropolis last week and it's still not working for me.   &mmm

Could you check if the files "A340cohort.dat" and "SCAG JLY A343 Air Tahiti Nui.SC4Model/SC4Desc/.SC4Lot" are in your plugins folder?

Also, is the brown box the plane itself, or some props which are supposed to be on the lot?

Yes the .dat file, the lot file, DESC and Model files are all present.  The plane is there but there is a brown box next to what appears to be a missing prop.  However, when I open the file in Lot Editor, it looks like this box is actually trying to reference the Building file.  The brown box appears at about the same location as the location of the missing prop in your image above.

Just a heads up, Alex (Kov Liberty) and I are currently looking into the issue to try and find out what's causing it and to fix it. We'll keep you updated about the progress.

Joel has updated the pack to correct the issue, the day after it was released, so could you download it again, install it again and see if that fixes it?
