WELCOME to page 8!

Fantastic pictures of that area! Wonderful palace! Also great using of the avenues!

That are some nice shots Emperor Stormont! Especially the last one, the night shot of the Imperial Quarter is gorgeous.

The set of the entire Quarter, the grandeur reflected in the Avenues and the building arround it, also by the empty quadrants with just nothing in it, makes it a very...well... imperial !

Like Strech, I love that ise the great Brandenburger Tor bat. There is however one thing disturbing me: the gate is in the middle of 'nowhere' (not a word that fits with the Imperial Gardens ofcourse...). I mean: I would have made also a "drive way" in the other direction: that way the gate could function as the entrance from the Imperial Avenue to Imperial Square...

Here's a letter from the government of Ruritania....

Emperor Stormont

I'm very sorry to all the people that watch this MD, I have been overwhelmed by work and preparations for Christmas as well as exams in January so I won't be able to get an update out before Christmas, I may try and get one sorted before then, here's hoping, but just in case I don't  :)

However I would like to take this opportunity to thank every single person that has viewed and/or commented on this MD, it has been a great joy to create this nation and the work will continue, I still love creating these cities and that will not end for the foreseeable future.

A very special thanks also to those that have assisted me in various projects, that has been so wonderful and greatly appreciated. Some new projects still to be showcased will be seen in January/February.  ;)

I shall indeed return in January with new work and updates and of course in February Atlantis will turn 1 year old, a wonderful milestone for me and we shall celebrate that also.

May I wish every reader and follower the very warmest of wishes for this Christmas and holiday season and a very happy and joyous New Year, I hope you enjoy the break and of course hope you have all been good girls and boys, otherwise you what shall happen......... :D

I'll see you all again in 2008 and again my deepest thanks for supporting this MD, it does not go unnoticed.

Merry Christmas xx

I agree, even the ruler of such a nice, green nation needs a break from time to time.

Enjoy it, and have a merry Christmas.

Kimcar - Thank you so very much, your support and kind words are greatly appreciated. Indeed majestic would be a good word, lol :)
I'm very pleased you liked it.

Joan - Thank you Joan I always look forward to hearing from you, your words mean a great deal and they are very welcome so thank you.

The library BAT was not created by myself, I cannot BAT in any respect and rely on the talent of those individuals that are so generous to release such beautiful buildings.

I adore the use of diagonal, they make a very bold impact as you stated and I am soooo fussy when it comes to how things look hence the long time it takes to create such things and symmetry is very very important to me. I'm so pleased you like my work and return to see it, I appreciate it greatly.

Hubert - Thank you dear Hubert your words also mean alot and I'm so pleased you love the set of updates.

Yes I do try to bring some RL images into these updates, breaks the SC images up a bit and adds some additional interest.

I took inspiration from your work and blended it with my own and thus I have to give thanks for your work and of course the use of your gardens.

Bat - So fantastic to see you back and thank you so very much for the wonderful comment.

Sebes - Thank you for commenting, I do like that night shot also, does look lovely.

The empty quadrants, yes I do like those, I love the idea of large parks and areas of beautiful undeveloped land in a glorious city, the city is alive with nature and trees and my people can enjoy the city they live in. I have a very idealist view of the world Atlantis is set, explains some of my updates.

The gate, indeed, I know what you mean. Firstly as Hubert also stated it is nice to see it again being used in SC and images posted. The location was purely selected based on symmetry as well as it being purely ceremonial used to mark the entrance to the inner Imperial square where the military and Imperial Quard will march and perform. I also hate roads impacting on open parks and public spaces, thus I removed the Avenue that did exist and extended the outer square. :)

Pip - Yes our planners are indeed talented, I passed on your thanks Pip :) Thank you very much for stopping by.

Revol - Thank you very much for stopping by, the Imperial Government is thrilled to have commenced relations with Ruritania. Your embassy is ready and is showcased below, I hope you like.

Hubert - His Imperial Majesty was just thrilled ;) with the invite and of course shall be attending.

I hope all those that were kind to wish me a Merry Christmas had themselves a lovely time and I wish you all and everyone that visits a very happy and prosperous new year ahead.

The Year Ahead

I have loved creating and working with Atlantis, it is my first and my only CJ and I shall not be changing that for the foreseeable future. I am a relative newbie to the SC community, about 18 months on ST and 10 on SC4D (roughly  :D ). When I started this CJ I was experienced in city building but over the months I have improved both my skills and indeed presentation. I have also learned and loved using LE after being inspired by people such as Yoder, Strechnitz and Badsim.

I do not BAT and as such rely on the efforts of those that can whether as a general release or private creations to which I am very grateful from the small things such as the Atlantan Flag to the new Imperial Palace being undertaken by Yoder to another building by Debussyman that will be showcased in the coming weeks and as part of the One Year Anniversary of the Imperial Kingdom of Atlantis.

Anyway.....

This coming year will still see and enjoy the large and grand cities of the nation but I will also start to look at the small and historic town and cities around the country in addition to the new technological advanced city of Naran Liberius, home to the Atlantan and Intersellar Alliance Space Fleet and various other special updates. I will also educate you more on the world and era that Atlantis exists in. An era set in a very different world of the future, while at the same time some things will look familiar.

I will explain in detail how Atlantis came into existence and what the world of our time looks like. I warn you a lot of countries we know of today do not exist any more and what I write is pure fiction so I hope no one is offended if you country looks or sounds different to what it does now.

The next update shall begin this fresh new outlook and we shall tour and view the historic city of Strangford. This city was the first site where celtic travellers from Ireland landed in what was know as Caledon and in later years were followed by the Normans. From this place a nation grew and became of the most powerful nations on earth, it was home to the first King of Caledon starting the revered Amadeus Royal Line.

After the Europa-Larisa War (will be detailed soon) it was the site where a new nation was announced it remains a small yet historic city of national importance. We shall explore its history and what it looks like today. I hope you all come and see that update which will be ready in a couple of weeks.

I have exams for the next few weeks and as such Atlantis will be quiet for a little bit, however, after they have finished I shall return in earnest with new work and of course the celebrations to mark this MD's 1st birthday.

For now I leave you with some eye candy, this update ends the Imperial Quarter Updates (till the palace is ready) and is the second instalment of embassies and diplomatic affairs.

With this update we leave the glorious and beautiful Imperial Capital, the pride of its nation and people. We will return to Atlantis in future months and for special updates but from today we start our tour of this large and varied country. From beautiful countryside, historic towns, mountains and national parks to the extremely advanced 'new cities' of the kingdom. We will see the Atlantan Star Fleet and explore the world of the 24th Century.

I do hope you have enjoyed so far and look forward to this new year of fresh and varied updates.

Happy New Year to you all

Oh yeah, Emperor Stormont is back in the game and outdoing himself! The new update is awesome.
Once again, each of the embassies has its own personality, and that's one of my favorite things about Atlantis -- nothing boring here! ;)
Your big cities are nothing short of magnificent, but I'm looking forward to seeing how you deal with rural areas as well. I have some pictures in my mind of how you'll design the small towns, and all of them are lovely, peaceful and filled with promise.
BTW, how/where did you get the lawn texture on the Kingdom of Rurtania Embassy?

Until next time...
Joan

Emperor Stormont

@ Joan, to be honest I'm really not sure, I was just browsing through the textures list on LE and found it and made it into a simple lot, maybe someone could give Joan some more info about it if they have any  :)

-jmouse (Joan): I did a little research on that texture thing and it seems that it can be found in BSC Textures Vol 1 here on the LEX. It's ID in the LE should be 0xb5c09000.

I don't think I have ever posted here before, but I have to say, you are doing a great job. Your pics have a very stately look to them and the backstory is really well done. Your garden layouts are outstanding, and I particularly like the avenue setup around the Caledon Library. I would like to offer a more indepth compliment/comment, but there is just too much to mention in just this post. I'll look forward to seeing what you have in store for the future.

Jmouse

Thanks, threestooges, and special thanks for the ID number -- makes the LE so much easier to work with.
Until next time...
